Stayed here in late May for wifes bday during the virus. Inn was operating at 50% occupancy. Staff checking us in was very nice, helpful. Gave us the run down and sent us on our way. We stayed in the Matthews Lodge Luxury Suite. It is suite that you can close off with pocket doors so the living room separates from the bedroom. You can still hear everything but at least there is some privacy I guess. We were with out 8 year old, so it was no big deal to us. Room is pretty big with comfy living area and a full kitchen off the living room. The pictures on the site are exactly what you get. Best part of the room; the screened in patio. Very big and great view. We were on 3rd floor right in the middle. Nice patio chairs and table. Nice bathroom with good sized shower and I cannot say a bad word about it. If you stay in this building you get an assigned parking space under the building which is nice in the shade. But there is ample parking outside the building as well if you have more than one car. Beach is very narrow at least during higher tide but it didn't bother us. At sundown the tide went out and the beach is wide for a nice walk if you choose to gather some shells. They have free beach chairs that you can pick up and bring the beach yourself and return as well and they have umbrellas to rent if you want. I think it was like $8. I didn't know what to expect so we brought our own umbrella. It is very chill here. They have shuffleboard and horse shoes and stuff like that. They have a few grills you can use; which we did. Nice and easy. We did not see any of the other units in the other buildings so I cannot speak to them. But housekeeping was nice during our stay and took care of our needs. Pool is very small. Don't have high hopes for the pool honestly; but we are beach people. If you get 6-8 people in the pool; you can feel it. But it is a small place with only 49 units if I recall so I doubt it ever gets to crazy there. But Just so you know; a large family could take that pool over easily. LOL. Inn is very close to Doc Fords and a grocery store and ice cream place etc... Very convenient which we liked as well. The only thing we did not like was the restaurant on site called Traditions; but I reviewed that in another review. Just not our cup of tea. Overall, we loved it. We will return and we will stay in the same room or try to get one of the cottages they have if available. Nice cozy place. Last thing; if you use the sofa bed; it is an air mattress that blows up. Pump and instructions were in the side table.

This was our fifth time in Sanibel and this was by far the best accommodation. It was incredible. We stayed in room 223 and it was beautiful. The room was very large, the bed comfortable, the bathroom huge with a great shower and double sink. Great storage space and a wonderful kitchen. Patio very large with table and chairs and loungers with a view that was incredible. The suite was extremely clean and well kept. There is also a laundry on site which is great when on a long vacation. Beside it was a shell and fish cleaning area. The gulf right outside had plenty of wild life and shells on the beach. There were loungers and umbrellas for the beach. It was paradise sitting reading a book on the beach or swimming in the warm Gulf water. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fruit and pastries with good coffee. There was a talk each morning by the shell museum in the lounge of the inn and on the beach. It was informative and fun. The inn was relaxed and it felt easygoing and we felt like we were on a dream beach island holiday. We will definitely be back and are so excited to have found such incredible accommodation on Sanibel.

From the minute we checked in with Glory & Tina we knew this would be a nice stay. Our room was a first floor nicely furnished and very clean walk out to the beach & pool. We enjoyed time on the beach, shelling and swimming in the pool which is right on the beach. Dinner at the on property restaurant Transitions was very nice as was our waiter Paul. The place has a yesteryear feeling yet with all the amenities. It's a wonderful place to stay while on Sanibel whether traveling from far away or close by as we were. You'll love it there.

We stayed 3 nights in May and are now staying 3 nights in June. Planning on returning in September! Stayed in the Spoonbill cottage and Mathews Lodge. Both were fantastic (although I don’t think the cottage had queen beds - they felt like double beds, just FYI) The Lodge has a lovely king bed and covered parking and the appointments at both are terrific. I am looking at the ocean right now! The beach and the staff are terrific! Would highly recommend this jewel situated amongst all these high rises!

4 years ago my wife, daughter and I visited this hotel. From there, we stay at this hotel every year at the end of May. We have just arrived home from one, and as always, wonderful vacation at Island Inn.
