Sundial Beach Resort was the greatest place for families! Beach access is so easy and the beach is great for swimming, playing, kayaking & paddleboarding (included). Loved that they set up chairs each day for us. The pool is just steps away from the beach so the kids loved going back and forth between the two. There was so much to do at the resort- including pickleball and biking around the island! There really are shells everywhere- and it's so fun just to walk around and find your favorites! The room was so clean and the view was amazing! Special thanks to Dina at the front desk who went out of her way to make our stay extra happy.

We took my family and booked 3 separate rooms for 7/31 through 8/2/2020. Upon arrival, the rooms and the grounds were clean. The beach felt safe. However, aside from the lobby, there was NO monitoring of Covid precautions. Most guests did not wear face masks on the grounds or indoors. There was no social distancing at the swimming pools and no enforcement of social distancing by hotel staff. There was no disinfecting of pool and beach lounges and poolside furniture or any of the recreational equipment like the kayaks, oars and skim boards. Because we live on the Florida east coast and hurricane Isaias was predicted to hit our homes on Saturday, 8/1, we made the decision to keep our family safe and therefore departed early Saturday morning. We were refunded the resort fees for Sunday, but not for Saturday, even though we could not use the facilities on Saturday. Given the circumstances under which we had to leave, I asked if they would give us a voucher for a future visit to the resort, given that we had already paid for the full stay. They refused to credit us anything. As such, we would like anyone thinking of going to this resort to think twice and choose another place with better policies regarding safeguarding the health of its guests during this period and with customer service that accommodates it’s guests when extenuating circumstances cause changes.

My review is for the tennis lessons offered at the Sundial Resort. My son and I took 6 one-hour semi-private tennis lessons with both Christian and Justin and they were both great instructors. Christian is really fantastic at providing all the minute details from hand and feet movements to how best to get the ball to do what you want. For myself, who has never picked up a racket prior to these lessons, I see myself as a life long lover of the sport and will practice all that was taught to me.

The first relaxing staycation I've ever taken that resulted in so far 5 WEEKS of stress and misc charges to both my mother and myself. Initially I attempted to book on Hotels.com for myself and several family members and my mother wanted to know if I could call to find out if the resort fee would cover parking. I did and when I did, I was told that I could get our two suites directly through the hotel and get $75 food and beverage credit, sounded like a great idea... worst freaking decision I have made in probably 5 years! I would have stayed somewhere else all together if I knew what I know today. I booked two suites and paid directly through the hotel. I never got a confirmation but, I was not concerned because I knew it was paid I could see that clearly on my bank statement. A few weeks after I booked my mother saw that there was an offer for a third free day of you booked two nights, which I did and was not offered when I paid by phone. So, I call the resort three times after work one night and nobody could find my reservation, this was 2 days before my family is scheduled to check in and because I was never sent a confirmation I couldn't give them a reservation number. I was so upset I was crying, how could they not find my reservation!!!??? Eventually, someone, after hours of looking, had found my reservation. Only to tell me she couldn't help me, that I would need to call back and speak with another person. I called back the next day and was told the deal isn't really a deal that the cost of the rooms go up to get the "free" third night, which after checking ended up costing MORE than what I would've paid for three nights at the rate I paid per night for 2 nights. So there are no free nights people, don't get fooled! So the day of check in comes and mom arrives and gives her discover card for her room to cover an additional charges over and above the $75 room credit. I come later and give my card also to cover any additional charges over and above my $75 room credit. We used our room credits and nothing more during our stay. I used my credit to take my niece and nephews to breakfast. Not only was this the worst "buffet" I've had at a resort in my life, additionally it was waaayyy over priced and caused me headaches for weeks... keep reading for how. My mother's room credit was for pizza and ice cream, both taste fine by the way. With a generous tip the total arrived at $75 to wipe out the room credit. I sent my adult son to check us out of our room. He was told I would be charged to pay our remaining bill. I didn't have any additional charges due. I spoke by phone to the front desk and told them I only used $70 of the $75 room credit for breakfast that I should have no additional bill. This then acknowledged her error and made sure I was not charged. I told my mother she needed to call and make sure she was not charged also. She did and was told she would not be charged. The next day I was charged for our breakfast, so I called and after spending 30+ minutes explaining to several people that I was supposed to have a $75 room credit, someone finally took a note for a manager and I was issued a credit days later. Then I was charged again and had to go through all the same stuff again. This is the hotel attempting to rip me off 3 TIMES! My mother calls me a week later to tell me she was also charged. She was furious, she was charged the charges for both of our rooms. She shouldn't have had a single charge, let alone have a charge for a completely different room. We had separate cards on file for both rooms, at no point ever (even if I did owe anything) should she have been charged for a room not in her name and not on her credit card, my rooms were paid for by me and were two completely separate reservations, paid for separate too! She called and spent over an hour doing the same run around I had done TWICE PREVIOUSLY in an effortto get her money back! She finally gets a refund and then I was charged again. So, I called back and had it out with a manager to deal with the crazy crap AGAIN! I swore then that I was going to take the time to leave a negative review because this has taken hours of my time to deal with and the entire point was to relax and this place started causing me immense stress two days prior to even going by NOT FINDING MY RESERVATION! Tonight my mom calls me again to tell me she has been charged again by the hotel for the charges for BOTH of our rooms. I can't anymore!? I am willing to spend a day writing about the absolutely horrible, stressful and aggravating experiences I have had attempting to deal with the morons that run this facility. I have no idea who handles accounting but I have a 4 year old that can figure this out with ease. Two $75 room credits (1 per reservation), 1 room charges $70 total at the resort, 1 room charges $75 total at the resort. The remaining balance was +$5 in favor of the hotel dishing out less in room credits. These people have charged us both several times for these charges that were sold to us as free and we both have spent HOURS trying to correct these wrong charges. If I charged these people what I charge in my career for the hours spent fixing their reoccurring errors, my entire family could stay a week in two separate, two bedroom beach front suites. I would recommend the Sanibel Island Beach Resort right up the street, I SHOULDN'T HAVE TRIED to venture from what I know was great to try Sundial. What a horrible experience. I HATE my choice to stay at the Sundial Resort! I AM PUTTING THIS ON EVERY SITE POSSIBLE!

Due to COVID government travel restrictions of the country we were originally going to visit we had to come up with a Plan B at the 11th hour. We chose Sundial for it’s location and availability. We were pleasantly impressed by the resort and will be going back! Great staff and amenities especially the tennis and pickle ball! Christian and Brad were great teachers! Highly recommend Sundial!
