My husband and I stayed at Higgins House in January 2020 for 2 nights. We were in town for a family wedding and the B & B was within walking distance of the venue. Our accommodations were comfortable, spacious, and charming. Breakfast was delicious, and snacks and treats were plentiful and always available. We consider ourselves lucky to have found this gem during our brief stay in Sanford!
My husband and I recently stayed at the Higgins House and highly recommend it. Lisa, the Innkeeper, was friendly, knowledgeable and a great chef! Home is comfy and lovingly restored. We were warmly welcomed with just out of the oven cookies, some tasty snacks and wine! In the evening you could enjoy a nightcap. Lisa was very helpful in explaining the downtown Sanford historic district and we enjoyed walking the area. Breakfast was a delight, and we had fun talking to her son who was helping out in the kitchen. We would definitely return when we get to Sanford again.
I have stayed at many B&B’s all over the US and in several other countries and Higgins House in Sanford, FL is my new all time favorite. Inside and out Higgins House is immaculate, spacious, tastefully decorated and well maintained. The innkeeper, Lisa, is gracious, knowledgeable, professional and fun. The gardens are beautiful and when we arrived, the gardenias that flank both sides of the huge porch were blooming and smelled wonderful. Thor and Sebastian, the resident kitties, greeted us with a respectful but enthusiastic hello. The bedrooms are airy, bright, comfortably air conditioned and decorated, super clean and fresh smelling. The bed was very comfortable and the bath towels were fluffy and soft. Plenty of hot water in the showers and showers were very easy to operate. Lisa, the innkeeper, spoiled us silly with happy hour noshes and a variety of decent wines, evening port and sherry nightcaps with hummingbird cake and fresh baked almond cookies, and a plentiful and delicious breakfast spread that included good, strong coffee, an assortment of juices, yogurt and fresh fruit parfait, hash brown crusted quiche, and baked stuffed crossaints for “dessert”. Lisa happily gave us suggestions for what to do in town and willingly engaged in general conversation. She knows the history of the house and is a descendant of the original owner. The house is across the street from a city park, on a quiet street with plenty of easy on-street parking and a short, easy stroll from downtown. Sanford itself was nice. The people were friendly. The brew pubs were lively and had lots of options, sometimes including wine or cocktails! We enjoyed strolling the neighborhoods looking at the buildings and houses and the shops and walking along the waterfront. There are lots of places to sit and rest and we found several swing benches that were large enough for 4 adults to sit and swing together. Lovely.…
This B&B is hands down the BEST one I have ever stayed in. Super clean, absolutely beautiful house. Amazing attention to detail to make our stay comfortable. The landscaping is impeccable, and smells heavenly. The breakfast was to die for. What really grabbed my attention was just how pet friendly this place is. Our dog loved every minute of it and they treated him as part of the family...very thoughtful, wonderful host. We will definitely return. HIGHLY recommend.
The inn was exceptional in all aspects. Beautifully decorated, quiet gardens and sun porches, fabulous breakfasts and a lovely host. The park across the street was beautiful and downtown Sanford was easily walkable.
