After spending a week at St Pete Beach, we decided to visit St Petersburg and stay in Florida an additional day. We inquired about rates over the phone and were advised to visit the hotel in order to learn what may be available for early check in. We met with Susan at the front desk who went over some options with us and even gave us a tour of a few of the available rooms. We settled on a lovely room in the new tower which afforded us with plenty of space, modern amenities and a beautiful balcony over looking the bay!! We got unpacked, went for a king bike ride then visited Paul’s lancing for some wonderful appetizers and drinks at the bar. The Bartender was fantastic, made us some great cocktails. We then went back to the room and were surprised to discover a gift basket that was sent up to us by Susan as she heard that it was my birthday!!!! What an amazingly, thoughtful surprise!!! Thank you for making our stay truly remarkable!!! Your staff is amazing!!!! We will be back and will tell all of our friends!!!!

What a wonderful experience. We came in to town for my Niece’s wedding and from the minute we pulled into the Porte-cochere to check in to luggage delivery not one beat was missed. The breakfast this morning was wonderful and Wanda was an absolute delight. Austin at the front desk was very helpful with Salon appointments and hotel shares. He even took us on a four to see the Dale Chihuly art glass. The only sub par experience was the long wait and lack of acknowledgement at the Lobby bar. That could be improved for sure. I was hoping to bring my sister in to a room here but the two night minimum stay made this impossible. We will return.

Service was extremely bad for our stay at the Vinoy. We actually had half full amenities in the bathroom from the previous occupants! Even after complaining, they left the same amenities there the second day with no new ones. We had to share a tiny bottle of shampoo for 2 days. Ridiculous. No room service and no restaurants open after 5:00. So there is nowhere to eat for dinner in the hotel. Front desk has no clue about the way the hotel is run. They are inexperienced and are of no help.

I have thought for several days before writing this review. I love this hotel for its history and location but that is where it ends. We have stayed at this hotel several times but are never received as returning guest or Bonvoy Gold Members. There are so many service issues and the general Issue seems to be lack of any visible Management. On our departure, following the final straw of a cold breakfast, the Operations Manager clearly had no understanding of any of the issues. To name but a few: No welcome as returning guest or Gold Member No upgrade Dirty duvet cover Dirty kettle No water in the room No management presence Chaos at the pool on Saturday General lack of any respect for its guests We are booked to return to St Pete in August but not to the Vinoy. To be completely transparent we received a one night credit during our three night stay, but we would rather not have experienced any of these issues. Beyond disappointed.

We stayed here before and had a great experience. This stay was abysmal. We were in the original building. Five nights cost $1845, or $369/night. For that, we had a room overlooking the recycling dumpsters and HVAC. Wallpaper was peeling off, the bathroom baseboards and fixtures had accumulated dust, tub initially drained slowly and by day 4 wouldn't drain at all. We had standing water for >1 hour. The room had 1 sm + 1 dbl dresser drawer for 2 people for 5 days. Wood furniture was dented and scratched, dresser drawers didn't close, bed frame cover was stained, scratched, marred, the floor lamp base was half paint/half rust. Furnishings were outdated, outlets were few. No note pads or pens, no coffee or coffee cups upon arrival. Housekeeping usually arrived late day, often missed things: coffee, cups, toiletries not replenished, dirty linens on the floor, trash cans not emptied. Internet service was sporadic and poor. Elevators were dirty, with trash stuffed in the wall; one day a wet pair of boys' underwear were on the floor for several hours. The guest room felt like a $97/night old Ramada, not a $369/night Marriott. I asked on day 1 about upgrading, and was told it was an additional $80/night for a room in the tower. The location is great, the lobby has some old-world charm. But given the poor room quality, the outrageous price for that room, and the lax responses of management, we will not be back. We suggest you find another place as well.
