Perfect location and superior staff. We were welcomed with beautifully remodeled room and super professional staff. Gym was first class as was pool. Construction was never noticed. Property is clean and expansive. Lobby coffee shop is fantastic as is the staff there. Gym was professional grade and awesome
Amazing hotel and staff! Gabriella T. over at front desk was simply amazing! She was remarkable from her personality to providing us great recommendations. I was celebrating a special occasion and front desk was nice enough to send a surprise gift to my room! Overall great hotel with great amenities. I look forward to stay at the Vinoy again simply because of the amazing staff and wonderful location!
This is an amazing hotel that just happened to be under renovation during our stay. However, our room was renovated and it was terrific! I will say though that the a/c does not go below 68 degrees, so we had to order a fan from the desk, which they provided a Dyson tower fan that worked very well. The staff was great. The parking situation was a bit costly and clumsy during the renovation. Overall I would be willing to stay here again and refer friends and family to stay here while visiting, for sure.
I had no idea that the hotel was 80% closed down, the restaurants, the bar long walk anywhere they try to get out of the building. I feel like that we paid too much for the condition of this hotel at the present time. The only place to eat is at the pool and to drink. No one even works here knows their way around to give you directions. Nor do they speak English.
It was a cold night for Florida and the heat in our newly renovated rood was not functioning. Engineering confirmed it was not working and sent up a portable heater. The whole process took an hour and a half out of our New Year’s Eve. The portable heater was so loud we had to turn it off. It was cold all night. Not what we expect when we pay $800/ night. We informed the front desk the next day upon check out. Nothing! No offer to comp our meal. No reduction in rate. Nothing but a rude, disinterested front desk host. Shame on the way you treat your guests.
So being that I’m from the area and been going for over 25 years it’s kind of sad the decline. I get that it is completely under renovations but, there are mold in the newer room bathrooms, and now for room service you get everything in beautiful plastic boxes in paper bags, just like an Uber delivery. The hotel went from 4.5 stars to a 3 star. Really sad and I can tell the recent ownership is cutting corners.
The Vinoy Hotel St Petersburg should NOT be listed as dog friendly. We used to book rooms for out of town guests to stay there along with dining at the restaurant often, however never again. Last evening we went to Paul’s Landing with dogs, one of which is a service dog with its vest on, Mohammed neglected to note that when we told us our dogs were welcome, but could not drink water from our own dog bowls or chew their dog chews. These pups were well behaved, sitting under the table and we were outdoors. We often stay at Marriott hotels with our dogs and have never incurred such an experience. We’ve always had positive encounters. Really sad this property is associated with the Marriott brand.
I rarely ever leave negative reviews, but this hotel warrants it. As others have noted, the hotel is in the middle of a very comprehensive remodeling project, and I am sure that it will be beautiful. Prior to my reservation, I was already aware of the construction and the likely minor inconveniences that would be associated with it. What I was not prepared for is this: this hotel is lacking basic readiness to host guests. The staff members are all very polite, but don't seem to care about guest problems. In my case, our toilet stopped working (twice!), the temporary fitness center is a joke and not stocked with water, there are not restrooms on all of the floors of the conference center (?). I finally asked for a new room, which is not nearly as nice as the one I had (but so be it, at least the toilet works). Stay somewhere else. This is not a Bonvoy/Marriott worthy experience. …
I recently stayed three nights at The Vinoy for a wedding. Although the hotel is undergoing renovation I had an excellent time. The pool was beautiful and Paul's Landing was a great breakfast and lunch option. The wedding we attended outside and in the grand ballroom was exceptional. Our room in the tower building was comfortable and quiet. The bathroom had double sinks which is really appreciated. I am not giving the Vinoy an excellent rating because so many parts of it were closed and so I didn't enjoy the full experience. Hopefully I will return to see the renovation. The Vinoy is definitely worth the trip!
The Vinoy is a perfect venue for a wedding (of my nephew and his lovely bride). During Covid, both the wedding and dinner were held outdoors in perfect cool weather. We loved walking along the paved trail that hugs the bay. We walked to restaurants for breakfast and lunch as well as to museums including the Dali Museum and the Chihuly glass collection at the St. Petersburg Museum. Great choice!
