The Cordova Inn enjoys a prime location that garners high praise from guests for its easy access to nearby attractions and dining. While the hotel's historic charm and inviting ambiance, particularly the quaint café and porch, are well-loved, some guests feel the rooms could use an update. The cleanliness of the inn receives commendations, though there are occasional mentions of service lapses. Opinions on the rooms and value are mixed, with some citing issues like noise and extra fees, balanced by the hotel's affordability and allure.

High marks for Keaton & Kayla for making us feel like family while ensuring all of our needs were attended to. Other staff joined easily into the conversations and were part of the good times we had. Loved the unique nature and history of the property, and the location was perfect as we walked to most of our activities. Definitely a place we plan to visit again and are excited for the expansion underway.

From the moment you walk up the front steps to a porch with some rocking chairs and tables to enjoy
the complimentary gourmet coffee in the mornings or just kick back and enjoy a good book you know that this Hotel is a special place ! My understanding is that the Cordova was built in 1902 and is the first Hotel in the City of St. Pete. Entering the Hotel off the porch you can admire the original wooden doors restored to a shine. The lobby is a step back into the rich history of St. Pete. The original wood floors along with the wood paneled walls make for a warm feeling as you enter the hotel. Historic pictures hanging on the walls is worth spending some time to enjoy. Couches, comfortable chairs make it a great place to relax. There is even a library room with books, a comfy couch and a TV on the wall just a few steps up from the Lobby.. The newly added bar featuring craft beers, upscale spirits as well as fine wines is a fantastic new addition since my last stay ! In the morning a light breakfast menu is available to purchase along with complimentary gourmet coffee for guests

The rooms have been restored with antique furniture and comfortable beds.. Wherever possible all the original water closets, showers and some rooms with the original claw foot tubs are still there.

The location is incredible with Museums, Restaurants, Pub's, entertainment venues as well as the new Pier are just a short stroll away.

One last note. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. Each time I have stayed at the Cordova I have been greeted warmly by Joe and the rest of the staff. Any need you may have is met with a smile and taken care of.. If you enjoy history, comfort and great hospitality from a great Hotel this is your place !

This unique boutique hotel is in the perfect spot in downtown St. Petersburg and yet in a time and place all its own. Built in the 1920s, the Cordova Inn resonates with vintage ambiance. Yes, the rooms are small but they are clean and comfortable. The lobby bar and terrace are wonderful - coffee drinks daytime and craft cocktails early evening. The staff is the best, all of them - warm and helpful whatever your needs. The location allows walking to so many of the city’s best attractions. The period B&W photographs throughout the Cordova signal you’re in for an experience. If Ernest Hemingway walked down the stairs for his morning coffee (or Mojito, he’d feel at home!

I would give the location and staff a 5, especially Danielle and Joe. They were so accommodating and friendly. Hotel is in a great location with a comfortable lobby that includes a bar they called the Scott which serves breakfast (at a cost) in the morning through lunch and select nights open as a bar with snacks. It has a lovely front porch with rocking chairs and cafe tables and chairs. The issues arise with the room. I know it is an older hotel but to be a boutique hotel, you need to work with the space you have. The room was small especially with a king bed and just enough room for a dresser but no closet. They had an extended rod hung from the wall with hangers not enough room to hang you items, which means you needed to keep items in your suitcase. It did have a small fridge, microwave and a coffee pot. The room has two windows but since they room was close to the building next to the hotel, they are covered with a darkening shade which means the room had no natural light. The room lighting was so poor that it made the room very dark. The bathroom was also small. It only had a tiny pedestal sink and no place to put toiletries or clothes. The shower was in a claw foot tub with a ring holding the shower curtain that was lopsided. The head of the shower was too short so you had to bend over to wash your hair. I don’t understand why they do not put in hooks, small shelves, another towel rack to maximize the wall space.

The hotel was recently acquired by a boutique hotel chain is being expanded to the building next door so I hope the new owners with solve some of these issues.

The four staff members went out of their way to make my trip an extraordinary one. They are four women who I am witness to in saying so are trained, professional, and have brilliant careers ahead of them.
Chantelle, Latoya, Rachel, Jasmine, and Kayla were phenomenal.
To the owner I'd like to say that you're lucky to have them.
I needed to get changed to a better room and Latoya and Chantelle took their time to find me one, tour me so I could choose what I wanted, and made sure if I needed anything they would get it for me. Rachel at the bar makes a killer capuchino. When you visit them make sure you order one. If I needed new towels they would be fresh and ready at my request.
To the owners I'd advice:
Replace the mattresses soon.
If you invest in an elevator please do so fast. I like doing exercise but it's a bit of stretch if going up if I forgot something simple such as a cable for my phone.
Also, I'm still in disbelief that your curtains let all the sun come in. I am attaching a picture of how it looks in the middle of the night. There's an entire side of the building exposed to the led lights of the parking lot. I am trying to attach a picture but the app doesn't let me for some reason.
In the first room I was in, the bathtub, of which I also tried to attach a picture but coukdnt either, leaves a lot to be said. Fix your tub it looks like it need a fresh finish because it's pealing.
Last is the fact that your mattresses' springs sound as if they were 50 years old or just plain cheap.
It's up to you to get your ratings up in booking or in hotels.com.
You are lucky you have the personnel that you have. Not many hotels do and you should take advantage of that to invest in these key things so you ensure eventually you don't lose your investment or the bank takes it away. If you face a recession that is what you risk, and we are on the brink of one.
Sincerely,
JZ

Designed to appeal to hipsters with claw foot tubs and a charming lobby this is not a hotel for families or the elderly (no elevator). Small bar with limited drink selections and hours. Staff extremely gracious and rooms very clean. Superb location- walking distance to all St Pete has to offer. At all costs avoid a room facing the street since the nighttime noise, especially on the weekend, can be disturbing.

It's taken me a while to write this review because I really don't like giving places a bad review that may negatively affect their business. That being said, I also feel it's important to share information that may be of concern to future guests, especially if it's a possible health issue.

My husband and I, along with another couple, went to St. Petersburg to bring in the new year with a friend that recently moved there. We chose to stay at the Cordova Inn because it looked charming. The front porch is lovely, and the living room and bar are very nice. The bartender made us a very good cocktail, and the morning cappuccinos were great. Now for the bad part...

Upon checking in to our room, we were surprised to see just how small the bathroom was. The only space for toothpaste, my cosmetics and hairbrush was on the window sill above the sink. I noticed the sill and sink had a lot of black dirt on it, so wiped it down and placed my items on the sill.

We met with our friends that evening and when we returned to our room, the black stuff had fallen on everything I'd placed on the sill and on the sink. I assumed it was dry or rotten fabric from the black curtain, so again wiped everything down - including the floor below the window. In the morning, it was back! After a closer look, it appeared to be some kind of bug poop! We notified the staff who said they'd have someone check it out after we went out for the day.

After our outing, we returned to the hotel where we were told it was checked out and nothing was found. We went upstairs to our room and there it was again! We asked to be moved to another room, but none were available. The manager came up to inspect and she thought it may be dust blowing in from a gap in the window glazing. She cleaned it up again, this time with Lysol spray, and left a rolled hand towel covering the gap she found.

When we returned from celebrating New Year's Eve late that same night, we found a whole new collection of black specks. A fairly quick search on the internet helped us identify the specks as termite poop!!! It's pretty clear from the volume that accumulated every few hours, this had been going on for a long time. Every housekeeper who cleaned that room had to have wiped up a significant quantity of termite poop. It's hard to believe hotel management had no idea this was happening. It's even harder to believe they'd done nothing about it for the weeks or months it had been going on.

Another note on the bathroom regards the clawfoot tub/shower. The curtain is so long that about ten inches of it gathers around on the floor of the tub. You can't avoid stepping on it and it's much more slippery than the bare enamel. No grab bars, so be careful.

Though we'd reserved three nights at this hotel, we checked out the next morning.

Definitely would not stay here again.

Two stars instead of one because the cocktails, coffee and pastry were good.

Very disappointed that management was not more concerned or apologetic.

Hello, We do greatly appreciate the feedback from your stay over new years. We sincerely apologize for dropping the ball and that you decided to check out a day early. We have not had that issue come up before and decided to call in an expert to take a look at the wood around the window. He did arrive the next day but unfortunately you had already checked out and it was not something we were able to fix on the spot. Multiple staff members including our manager did try to make it right in the moment without knowing exactly what the problem was at that point. If we were not at capacity over the holiday we would have offered you a different room if you would have chose so but we were not able to accommodate due to the holiday. Again we apologize that you had this experience and hope you will give us another chance in the future. Take care and again we are very sorry. -Cordova Inn

I feel extremely misled by this hotel's pricing. I reserved a room for a set price and was given a total "inclusive of taxes and fees" however was made to pay an extra $30 per night at check in for a resort fee that was not mentioned anywhere on the website or in my confirmation emails. I spoke with the manager Tiffany and the buck was passed to "her boss" and I was told there was nothing they could do about it. This is one of the shadiest things I've experienced as a hotel guest.

I paid a premium price for a holiday weekend although the regular price is triple what it deserves. I don’t typically write reviews but I feel if I can save one person this experience, as of course they’re not going to refund me it’s all I can do. The inn is surrounded by a dilapidated, abandoned building which has several people still living in it. The pictures are absolutely deceiving and the entire thing is a straight up con. The room was dirty and smelled like mold. The “premium” location is also a joke as my wife was harassed by one of the squatting tenants outside. Spend the extra money and stay anywhere else. Additionally the wonderful bar and only amenity was closed for the holiday weekend. Do not do it I’m telling you.

We really don't understand this review at all. Upon your arrival you requested a room with a different view and we accommodated immediately even with a full hotel . Our pricing for the holiday weekend was very low in comparison to other hotels in the area. You did book through a third party site but even then it was still a very low rate. We've never had someone that we were not able to make happy and enjoy their time here such as yourself. Normally if someone expresses any concerns we do our best to make it right in any way possible. We do not appreciate the lies in this review or being called a "con" just because you decided not to stay. The building next to us has been vacant for 6 months to prepare for demo and is secure so I can assure you no one is living there like you are saying in this review. We apologize we were not able to make this a 5 star experience for you as we do with everyone else that stays here. It is not fair to us though to post false information online. We wish you the best. -The Cordova Inn

We just celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary at this charming in and it was magical. The staff was fantastic and made us feel like we were special from the minute we arrived. The lobby bar with Happy Hour was a nice touch and the breakfast on the front porch was relaxing and inviting. Latoya, Eli, and the whole crew work hard and are so personable and informative about the hotel and the area. We will be back to this inn again. The location cannot be beat - you can walk everywhere and also the Looper and CAT are just steps away if you want to save steps. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
