The most impressive thing is the beach location and a wide range of available amenities and services. We live in a 250 sq ft room which I have no complaint about except that the bathroom, although modern, is too cramped. When I reach above the close bureau (about 8 ft tall) I noted that it was very dusty.

Hotel's Favorite
My mom and I just returned home from our first mother-daughter stay at The Don Cesar, the “Pink Palace”, and it could not have been more perfect! The history of the place almost transports you back in time from the moment you walk in. The amenities are amazing, and the beach, pool, and hotel are absolutely beautiful! And THE STAFF puts this hotel over the top!! We enjoyed every minute of our stay! I have never stayed at a resort, in the states, with this level of service. The staff is genuinely joyful, kind, helpful, and happy to be there! I have never come home from a trip with this many names to share, starting with Michael, Denis, Spencer and sweet Courtney at the bell station welcoming us and taking care of our bags. We got to know them a bit as we waited for ubers each night to various restaurants, always so kind and pleasant to chat with. Heather helped us check in, answered all of our questions, and suggested some wonderful restaurants. Bradley at The Society Table restaurant was very friendly and very knowledgeable of all the dishes and fun drinks. Larry and Taylor greeted my mom each morning at Uncle Buck’s for her delicious breakfast pastry, they really made her day. Elijah, Collin and Uriah were the most helpful, kindest gentleman with our beach chairs each day, and Katie, Jackie, Zach and Tevin were some of the best pool servers we have ever had at any resort. I can not say enough about their kindness, sweet smiles and exceptional service! Katie truly is an absolute joy, and we were blessed to get to know her during our stay. Whoever does the hiring for this hotel does an absolutely amazing job! I have to also mention a quick note about Madfish, the seafood restaurant about 5 minutes down the road, absolutely amazing, atmosphere, service, food, all 10’s. The hostess Natalie and our server Robbie were fantastic!! I just can’t say one bad thing about our experience at The Don Cesar, we can not wait to return!!

I wasn’t happy about a $75.00 pet fee per day but they charged me an additional $9.75 a day in taxes! They didn’t even clean my room any day! I usually stay in historic hotels of America and never paid per day $84.75. I was aware of the $75 but to add on to that outrageous amount is an insult!!!! Most hotel that I have stayed at manage to work with me somewhere to help out the policies! This is the first one that stuck it to me! My dog is better behaved than most children.

The Don Cesar was lovely. The hotel itself is gorgeous, inside and out. The front desk staff was exceptionally patient and helpful, I wish I could remember his name to give him credit. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Our shower was also out of this world! Beautiful with great smelling soaps, almost spa like. Breakfast at the society table was fantastic. Fast and delicious. We had a day at the spa for my sisters birthday and it was just phenomenal. Every single service was the best we’ve ever had and the staff was just incredible - attentive and friendly and very talented. A lovely experience overall! Highly recommend.

We have a baby and a dog and thus had much luggage. We pulled our car up to the valet area and were helped quite well by the valets, but there's a long staircase down to reception, and then a small staircase up to our room. No ramp. I was told that on the side of the building there is a ramp, but that's inconvenient. You need to have handicapped/baby access (for stroller, luggage carts, etc.) right at the main entrance (valet area.) Also, we booked the Don Cesar (vs. the Vinoy...which was highly recommended by a friend) because the Vinoy was undergoing renovations and because the Vinoy was not located near the beach. However, for 3 nights stay I could've gotten us the Vinoy for "free" (using AMEX points). My wife wanted direct beach access for our child so we chose the Don Cesar. Don Cesar was -not- an option using AMEX Travel. Thus I cashed in -all- of my Chase Sapphire points but that only got us about 1/2 of the overall cost of 3 nights covered. And then once we checked-in we were surprised by fees and/or stipulations that were not obvious or even presented at all on the Chase Sapphire rewards site and/or the Don Cesar web-site: - $31/night valet fee - $49 (?)/night resort/amenities fee - $75/night pet fee... - ...and because we had a pet we had to stay on the 1st floor, in a room with an ugly view and no view of the ocean; and the room was cramped to say the least! So the price of the hotel - per night - was actually quite expensive, leading to unforeseen expenses and us going over our budget for the trip...and quite frankly was not worth it. But because we loved the area, we decided to cash-in some of my AMEX points and stay a 4th night at the Vinoy. And I must say the Vinoy (despite not having beach access) is heads and shoulders above the Don Cesar in almost every way. We might stay at the Don Cesar again but only for beach access; otherwise, we're going to stay at and recommend the Vinoy.

We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your feedback, and it's unfortunate to hear that not everything about your visit lived up to expectations. While we apologize for any inconvenience, please know that all of our fees are listed on our website for our guest's convenience before booking, under the "amenities" section. Thank you for your comments, and we do hope you'll give us another chance to impress you later down the line. Thomas Fraher – General Manager.
