Nestled on St. Pete Beach, The Beachcomber has garnered attention for its immaculate surroundings and commendable housekeeping, with guests consistently applauding its cleanliness. The vibrant environment, underscored by live music, offers a spirited escape, though it may not be the sanctuary for peace-seekers.
Despite its lively charm, some travelers have expressed dissatisfaction with the rooms, describing them as dated and not well-maintained, with occasional noise issues. While the staff's warm and efficient service receives high marks, concerns over the resort's value for money and the adequacy of amenities, including limited pool space, have been noted by guests.

Detailed Reviews
All the one star reviews are laughable... Do you really think you're getting a resort on the beach that's 5 diamond with turndown service for $70/night?!?!! Yes, the place is not the nicest. Yes, they have industrial toilets in the room that you flush with your foot and cannot sit upright on without hurting your back with the homemade shelf. Yes, these are the absolute worst hotel beds I've ever experienced... However, you're literally steps from the beach, the pools are right outside your door, there is complimentary coffee in the morning and that front desk agent Kim is awesome!!
Aside from that, the restaurant has normal beach fare with generally crappy service. Raven is the exception, as when we aired our grievances with her about how we tried to dine three times and the staff was too busy with each other in the server station or how the bartender would rather talk to one regular than acknowledge the existence of a 4-top (literally not even a "hi how are ya") made sure to be attentive and on top of things. Even with the one standout employee I'll make it a point to not return. There are too many other places selling burgers, nachos, coconut shrimp and rum runners on this beach for me to ever bother coming back.

It’s clear the property is under renovation. The updates are looking pretty good so far. A few things that are notable- there’s no outlet in the bathroom for a hairdryer or straightener. The outlet near the mirror does not allow for the wider prong that is on both hair tools. It was very challenging to use the outlet on the lamp to use hair tools. Another notable is the shower is an updated walk in shower, traveling with a 4 year old who can not shower alone… this wasn’t fun…
We stayed six night and have a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 13 & 4). We had a first floor room… it was loud for a decent part of the night.. We could hear the music from Johnny B’s and the passing patrons or other resort guests. After 2am it was quite. One morning we woke up to a drink left on our “patio table” from someone passing by.
The location is good. We enjoyed the restaurants within walking distance of the resort. Crabby Bills and Snappers are fantastic!
The staff was friendly. Due to COVID, housekeeping services were not offered. We did get fresh towels every other morning. By the end of our stay, we had tracked in enough sand to make our own sandbox.
Overall, we hope to be back. Maybe with a second floor room and one that would offer a shower/tub combination for easier bathing of a small human.

We stay at the last Room, or next to the bar. That wasnt a problem at all. Weather was perfect but the ocean was freezen. Having a heated pool at the hotel is definitely a plus. They offer canvas and umbrellas, included in the resort fee and beach towels. The hotel is a bit old but good enought for family vacations.

I booked this hotel (resort) for the weekend and was a mistake overpriced and they don't even had shampoo in the bathrooms we stayed there for 2 days but never ever will be back , they also charge $60 Resort Fee ,the property needs some maintenance and to be cleaned out a little bit more. it has potential,is not good for families with little kids there are drunks all over with two bar in it so you know what you get into it.by the way I made a question to one of the guys cleaning and he was so rude and didn't gave me a answer I asked if the pool was heated, and he said you see the weather so don't ask .

Select this "resort" only as your "last resort." If they locate you in one of their "patio" rooms, run away...these rooms are located directly across from the bar where the music booms until the late hours.
Room cleanliness is questionable. Floors were very sticky. Beer? Soda? Who knows. Wear socks!
Also, the amenities are fairly worthless. A charge for parking? Two free drinks at the bar?
Lastly, and to be fair, when we were asked about our stay, we provided the above input. As a result, the manager waived the daily "resort fee."

We stayed the Beachcomber 5/8 for 3 nights. We didn’t know much about the area, but this “Hotel” “Resort” had four stars and the room was advertised as recently renovated. The hotel and room was a major disappointment. The outside perimeter had trash daily and was not well kept. Our room faced the bar and was on the lower level, so we got to smell the trash on a daily basis. This room looked like they ran out of money to complete their renovation (see pictures). I rarely walk in a hotel room with no slippers, but my husband is brave and the first night his feet were completely black! It was gross. The walls were extremely thin; we could hear EVERYTHING from the room next door. The closet was a large hole in the wall with a string hanging from the ceiling for the light and for 2 people we got four hangers.
We don’t normally stay in establishments that resemble motels, but there was not a lot available oceanfront the weekend we went and again, they advertised “resort” “ recently renovated “ so I didn’t think the room would be bad, I slept with one eye open for fear of critters. I will say I never saw one, but it just looked looked like a place that you would see bugs.
There were a few positive: Jimmy B’s great food, music and service, the beach cabana service and bar, were great, and the front desk service was great.
They charge roughly $40 a day for the resort fee and the only amenities they have is the cabana service.

My friend and I chose the Beachcomber to stay at for our beach vacation because it looked like everything we needed was onsite and the prices were in line with other surrounding hotels.
Pros: Access to unlimited beach towels, free chairs and cabanas
Cons: As others have mentioned, this hotel is in dire need of upgrades. The website images are old and extremely misleading. Upon entry, we were upset by the peeling paint on steps and walls, mold growing on cement, and lackluster decor but tried to keep a positive attitude. Our room was no different. It seems the shades in every room barely work and have holes in them. We had a huge gap between the bottom of our door and the floor, so we had to roll up a towel every night to try and prevent unwanted pests. The air conditioner was loud and missing buttons. As others have mentioned, lights not working and odd placement of bathroom shelves, no toilet lid. We also had to ask twice for hair conditioner. I’ve tried to document the appearance of this hotel so others are not as fooled. Had we known what we were actually getting, we 1000% would have stayed somewhere else.
Final thoughts: This is very much the “party” place for locals and guests who prefer to drink and stay up all night. As two friends traveling here for the beach, we spent almost all our time there and would definitely not recommend this place to families. Drunk and stumbling guests at all hours. We had a fire alarm go off at 4am one day. Just an all around disappointing experience and we could not wait to leave. Additionally food and drinks were overpriced for quality. We went next door to the Hilton or surrounding restaurants for better drinks (better quality and lower price point) and much better food. I think Beachcomber wants $26 for a burger. Save your money and go next door. It is definitely not worth it.

Hello Dana, Thank you for taking time to share detailed feedback about your recent stay. I’m glad you enjoyed our beachfront location and were able to enjoy our beach chairs and cabanas. I’m disappointed to read about the experience you describe. I sincerely value your comments and can assure you that we are currently working on improving our facilities and facade. While St. Pete Beach and Jimmy B’s do offer lively nightlife, it’s important that we provide peace and quiet for those seeking a more relaxing experience. Again, thank you for sharing your feedback. It was my first time in the USA and I wasn't sure what to expect. I visited with one of my daughters, it was her first time too. I'm so glad we chose the Beachcomber. We had a lovely surprise when we arrived as we'd been booked into separate rooms, so we had lots of space. The beds are the most comfortable I've had while staying in a hotel, and I've stayed in a lot. I normally suffer with a bad back and sleepless nights when away from home, but there was none of this here. The rooms are very big, with plenty of storage space. They're very well-equipped. The only thing I think would be useful is a microwave as eating out every day can get very expensive. The grounds are lovely and very well maintained. There are a couple of pools. It's right on the beach and the beach is fantastic with the most amazing sunsets, that people come to the beach especially to see. There's live music every night. This can be a little loud in the rooms closer to the beach bar, but it didn't keep me awake and was actually quite nice to have in the background. Everyone is so friendly and happy all of the time. Sarah in the beach bar is loveley, and Yaya on reception was extremely helpful - such good advocates for the hotel. One guy (I'm afraid i didn't get his name) walked round with a huge smile on his face singing "I love my job" most of the time. Everyone we encountered wanted to help or give advice on places to visit, the best restairants etc. The rooms are cleaned often and there's always a good supply of fresh towels. There were two huge flat screen TV's in the room. One was in the main part of the room, then there was another in a smaller section of the room which had a sofa bed in it. I'm hoping to go back to St Pete next year and will definitely be booking into the Beachcomber again. I miss it already.

Overall, a great resort. Staff were friendly. Bed comfy, great nightlife, & right on beach.
Need better towels they were extremely thin, small, and rough to the touch. Ended up using the beach towels as bath towels as they were better quality. Also could use better quality pillows for a king bed. No privacy in the room unless the shades were down all the way for the windows. Shades needed mending as well. A mini blind or blind type idea would provide privacy and better lighting. Not enough dresser space. What was considered a dresser only had 2 functional drawers which was not enough space for 2 people and 5 nights. The lounging room had a dresser type piece of furniture, but the drawers were small and had no utility. Had to basically live out of our suitcases.
Didn't use the pool, however the area was clean, and the courtyard area was lovely with the plant life, fountain, and hammocks. I liked the key card access to beach towel cabinet. Neat idea and I didn't have to deal with people.
The bars had great food and great music. Food was spendy. If you like nightlife this was a great resort for that. Just note that pending where your room is located you will be hearing the bands until bar close. We were poolside and easily heard the bands play til bar close.
Beach was great. Boardwalk led to the beach was nice. Room came with cabanas or chair rental as part of the cost, so it was nice to not have to pay extra for them. They were first come first serve.
Easy access to the adjoining resorts on either side to check out their nightlife when we ventured out on the beach.
Overall, a great resort. Just a few things that could be improved upon. Mainly better-quality towels, better window coverings to provide privacy and lighting, and more dresser drawer space.

Although we knew what this "resort" had to offer from staying for a three day holiday just two years ago. And because of that we chose to stay there again as a little two day get away from the events of the past 3-4 months that had us needing a nice simple relaxing couple day break. Well things change over time and the same goes for this once little gem.
But before I start my laundry list of bad changes that we noticed, All of the staff were very friendly!!
After that there is nothing that would bring us back here. the hotel itself is old and showing its age, the "resort" towels that guests were to use was never stocked beyond a half dozen towels or so at the most so youn had to use the towels from the room. The beds were old, lumpy, and VERY VERY soft. coupled with pillows that well, one seemed to have been stuffed with clumps of ripped foam. understanding that there are still concerns about COVID19, the live music stopped at 8pm, no resturant to eat, to order food you had to go to the beach side bar and call it in wait and itwould be delivered. the sports bar was closed, and they still charged a full Resort fee! the price is right, but think about how or what you want to spend your money on to be able to relax on a holiday.

You need to walk up to bars if your on the sand..
Ask for a room closer to the check in section. Jimmy bs is at the back end and on the beach.. so if you stay close to the front of the hotel you won't here the music.
Hello! Guests of the Resort receive two beach chairs and an umbrella or a Cabana. Availability on the type of seating is first come first served. Extra seating is available at a nominal charge. We look forward to welcoming you to the Bellwether!
