The Beachcomber St. Pete Beach Florida offers a vibrant beachfront atmosphere with live music that many guests enjoy, though it may be too lively for those seeking peace. While the hotel's location earns praise, some travelers are less impressed with the room conditions, noting issues like poor cleanliness and dated decor. Despite mixed feedback on value and room quality, the service often impresses with its professionalism. The amenities, including beach facilities and pools, are popular, but there are mentions of noise and maintenance concerns. Overall, the hotel's cleanliness appears to be well-maintained.

It was my first time in the USA and I wasn't sure what to expect. I visited with one of my daughters, it was her first time too. I'm so glad we chose the Beachcomber. We had a lovely surprise when we arrived as we'd been booked into separate rooms, so we had lots of space. The beds are the most comfortable I've had while staying in a hotel, and I've stayed in a lot. I normally suffer with a bad back and sleepless nights when away from home, but there was none of this here. The rooms are very big, with plenty of storage space. They're very well-equipped. The only thing I think would be useful is a microwave as eating out every day can get very expensive. The grounds are lovely and very well maintained. There are a couple of pools. It's right on the beach and the beach is fantastic with the most amazing sunsets, that people come to the beach especially to see. There's live music every night. This can be a little loud in the rooms closer to the beach bar, but it didn't keep me awake and was actually quite nice to have in the background. Everyone is so friendly and happy all of the time. Sarah in the beach bar is loveley, and Yaya on reception was extremely helpful - such good advocates for the hotel. One guy (I'm afraid i didn't get his name) walked round with a huge smile on his face singing "I love my job" most of the time. Everyone we encountered wanted to help or give advice on places to visit, the best restairants etc. The rooms are cleaned often and there's always a good supply of fresh towels. There were two huge flat screen TV's in the room. One was in the main part of the room, then there was another in a smaller section of the room which had a sofa bed in it. I'm hoping to go back to St Pete next year and will definitely be booking into the Beachcomber again. I miss it already.

Overall, a great resort. Staff were friendly. Bed comfy, great nightlife, & right on beach.

Need better towels they were extremely thin, small, and rough to the touch. Ended up using the beach towels as bath towels as they were better quality. Also could use better quality pillows for a king bed. No privacy in the room unless the shades were down all the way for the windows. Shades needed mending as well. A mini blind or blind type idea would provide privacy and better lighting. Not enough dresser space. What was considered a dresser only had 2 functional drawers which was not enough space for 2 people and 5 nights. The lounging room had a dresser type piece of furniture, but the drawers were small and had no utility. Had to basically live out of our suitcases.

Didn't use the pool, however the area was clean, and the courtyard area was lovely with the plant life, fountain, and hammocks. I liked the key card access to beach towel cabinet. Neat idea and I didn't have to deal with people.

The bars had great food and great music. Food was spendy. If you like nightlife this was a great resort for that. Just note that pending where your room is located you will be hearing the bands until bar close. We were poolside and easily heard the bands play til bar close.

Beach was great. Boardwalk led to the beach was nice. Room came with cabanas or chair rental as part of the cost, so it was nice to not have to pay extra for them. They were first come first serve.

Easy access to the adjoining resorts on either side to check out their nightlife when we ventured out on the beach.

Overall, a great resort. Just a few things that could be improved upon. Mainly better-quality towels, better window coverings to provide privacy and lighting, and more dresser drawer space.

Greetings, thank you for such a kind and thorough review. I’m pleased to read you enjoyed your time with us on St. Pete Beach. Jimmy B’s Beach Bar is the best beachside hangout around offering delicious meals, cold drinks, and live entertainment all day every day. I’m so glad you found our beachfront location convenient when exploring around and enjoying the cabanas. It sounds like you had a great time and we can’t wait to welcome you back. See you again soon!

We booked a King Junior Suite so it had the extra tv and another couch. It may have seemed like a lot for 2 people but it was perfect for us. We loved the smaller pool as it was closer to our room and had some shade but the big pool was great too. Every thing was super clean and the staff was the best I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Please go stay here, the courtyard is beautiful and we loved hand feeding the squirrels, we actually made special trips to the grocery to get them more seeds and nuts. The beach is gorgeous and the beach chairs & cabana or umbrella (included in your rental) were perfect. Not a big crowd when we went in September. My husband and I actually extended our stay by 3 days (I had to go back to work otherwise it would have been longer) and didn't want to leave then. I hope to return for another vacation, sooner rather than later.

Really disappointed with this Hotel. It’s not really a hotel or resort, more of a motel. Rooms were really grubby, smelling of damp although beds felt clean, we were given two ground floor rooms ‘near pool’ but also near Jimmy B bar. Very noisy and could hear people walking very close to our door in the early hours. I had a knock at the door at about 11.30 pm to find a very drunk man asking to come in to chat. He then went along the whole row doing the same. Felt very unsafe here as no security to entrances at all. The bar is a local haunt and anyone can go in via beach or side entrance and then walk around the complex. It really shook me up especially as I had my three daughters with me too.
The pictures do look lovely as it is right on the beach but really not the best place to stay for a family. The pools were quite small and again it felt quite exposed to anyone just wandering about.
Lots of people enjoying a very boozy spring break by the looks of it. The bar played loud music until 1am.
My main concern really was the safety aspect and feeling completely exposed as it was ground floor and on the thoroughfare to and from the bar. Also as there were no privacy blinds we had to keep curtains closed to stop people looking in making it very stuffy and unpleasant.
The rooms smelt damp, air con unit very loud. Really just an awful experience. We checked out after one night as I just didn’t feel comfortable staying. They said they would give full refund but we noticed they took several payments from credit card amounting to over £250 the day we checked out possibly for ‘resort fee’ and have yet to hear about refund.
Really wouldn’t recommend

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with my recent stay at your resort. My family and I have been loyal guests of the Beachcomber Resort for many years, celebrating numerous special occasions including birthdays, weddings, and most recently, my 60th birthday. Unfortunately, our latest experience has left us extremely dissatisfied, primarily due to the poor customer service provided by your General Manager, Kyle Fettig.
Upon our arrival, we were excited to celebrate my milestone birthday with our group, which occupied 11 rooms. We spoke with the staff member in charge of the cabana chairs about setting up our canopy tent and were given clear instructions on where we could set up. We ensured that our setup, which included a canopy, tables, cornhole, and decorations, was positioned at the edge of the property to avoid obstructing anyone’s view.
However, after spending an hour setting up, Mr. Fettig approached us and insisted that we move, citing a clause in the hotel contract that prohibits setting up in front of the cabana chairs. Despite explaining that we had followed the initial instructions and were not obstructing anyone, he refused to show us the clause and demanded we relocate. Reluctantly, we complied and moved our setup behind the row of cabana chairs.
To our dismay, just ten minutes later, the cabana attendant informed us that we had to move again because Mr. Fettig had decided to set up another row of cabana chairs. This constant disruption and lack of clear communication were extremely frustrating and put a damper on our celebration.
In addition to the poor customer service, we have noticed a significant decline in the upkeep and maintenance of the resort. The rooms are no longer maintained to the high standards we have come to expect from the Beachcomber Resort.
While we have always enjoyed our stays at your resort, particularly the vibrant atmosphere at Jimmy B’s bar, this recent experience has left us with no desire to return. The unprofessional and unaccommodating behavior of Mr. Fettig has greatly tarnished our view of the Beachcomber Resort.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and address these issues to prevent other guests from having a similar experience. We will be looking for alternative accommodations for our future visits to St. Pete Beach.

Hello Kevin, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re committed to providing excellent hospitality and a pristine environment for all our guests. To keep the beachside atmosphere relaxing for everyone, we have policies that prevent large private events on the beach. For those looking to celebrate, we offer event venues and options like our lively beach bar, which can be booked in advance to help plan your special moments. We truly value your feedback and regret this stay didn’t meet the high standards you’ve come to expect. If you have any further thoughts, feel free to reach out directly.

Where shall I start, which is the worst hotel we have had throughout our trip. There is housekeeping every other day but no broom in your room to sweep up the sand yourself etc. The room had a terrible smell, as soon as you opened the door, it was already hitting your throat. It was a smell of mold, groundwater or something chemical but t can also be a combination. The first evening mentioned right at the front desk, someone came from maintenance, spoke almost no English and had no volume in his voice so we barely understood him and he pretended to understand our complaint. The next day we were out all day and had the illusion that there had been an undertaking to resolve our complaint. It was and remained an illusion because as soon as we opened the room the smell hit your throat again. Again to the front desk, the same man as before, he blamed us for only coming in the evening....and also ostentatiously rolled his eyes so we didn't feel taken seriously at all. When checking out an official complaint was made, there was an American response with oh I'm so sorry....yes of course, but no action was taken before that. Hotel is not worth 3 stars, it needs a thorough refurbishment. We really would not recommend this hotel. The only thing that was positive is the location near the beach, but yes hygiene, maintenance and service is really below standard. Never again!

My friend and I chose the Beachcomber to stay at for our beach vacation because it looked like everything we needed was onsite and the prices were in line with other surrounding hotels.

Pros: Access to unlimited beach towels, free chairs and cabanas

Cons: As others have mentioned, this hotel is in dire need of upgrades. The website images are old and extremely misleading. Upon entry, we were upset by the peeling paint on steps and walls, mold growing on cement, and lackluster decor but tried to keep a positive attitude. Our room was no different. It seems the shades in every room barely work and have holes in them. We had a huge gap between the bottom of our door and the floor, so we had to roll up a towel every night to try and prevent unwanted pests. The air conditioner was loud and missing buttons. As others have mentioned, lights not working and odd placement of bathroom shelves, no toilet lid. We also had to ask twice for hair conditioner. I’ve tried to document the appearance of this hotel so others are not as fooled. Had we known what we were actually getting, we 1000% would have stayed somewhere else.

Final thoughts: This is very much the “party” place for locals and guests who prefer to drink and stay up all night. As two friends traveling here for the beach, we spent almost all our time there and would definitely not recommend this place to families. Drunk and stumbling guests at all hours. We had a fire alarm go off at 4am one day. Just an all around disappointing experience and we could not wait to leave. Additionally food and drinks were overpriced for quality. We went next door to the Hilton or surrounding restaurants for better drinks (better quality and lower price point) and much better food. I think Beachcomber wants $26 for a burger. Save your money and go next door. It is definitely not worth it.

Pros: The lobby and courtyard and pools are nice. Other than its beachfront location this resort has little to offer for the room prices and resort fee.
Cons: Sporadic room cleaning was inadequate, no elevator to second floors, luggage must be carried upstairs, parking is like parking next to a factory; backing out of the alley is required. Room was in desperate need of modernizing. Furniture looked like it came from Ikea or tag sales. This resort shows its age and new paint in the room is like putting a bow tie on a pig; its still a pig.

We stayed at this resort for a company conference. The main areas of the resort are mostly fine. Upon arriving the lobby, pool area beach bar and beach were very nice. But,our issue was the exorbitant price we paid and the state of the guest rooms. When all the fees are added up, it was nearly $500 a night for a junior suite. The only thing about the room that we thought was acceptable was that the bed was comfortable and the AC worked. The floors were filthy. Our feet were black after walking on them. Both pull out couches were sagging in the middle, stained and hard as a rock. The blinds in our room were torn and difficult to open and close. The bathroom was very small. The pictures on the website of the room, make it look, enormous compared to its actual size. We were informed upon check-in as the staffing was low we would not be getting any room service with the exception of trash, every other day and clean towels. Since we were traveling with other people, we asked them about the state of their guest rooms, and they all had similar things to say. The beach towels were dingy and threadbare. The men’s bathroom down by the beach was on unusable. The urinals were ripped off the walls. We did enjoy the beach bar, Jimmy B’s they had great drinks, and most of the time the food was fine. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, and my husband said they did a good job setting up the conference room and the breakfast. Overall, we had a great experience on St Petes Beach, but I would choose a different resort next time due to the issues noted above.
