Detailed Reviews
Have tried several of the renovated motel resorts in St Pete Beach and been to the Bon-Aire twice and it is my favorite. The rooms are very clean, the beach location is great, Sandbar Bill’s outdoor bar is convenient, there is lots of outdoor seating around the resort and by Sandbar Bill’s, and there is a Walgreen’s and a good Italian restaurant across the street.
The rooms are quaint with a kitchenette, a small table with two chairs, couch, and comfortable bed(s). The closet is a nice size for storing bags and luggage. The bathroom is small but functional. The cleaning staff needs to be commended and well-tipped as they do an amazing job; have never seen a speck of sand when we walked in.
It would be nice to have hooks on the bathroom door for hanging towels and our kitchen did not have paper towels but those are minor inconveniences.
They are heeding social distancing In the office area and all staff wore masks. We did not use the pool or Sandbar Bill’s this time so not sure about social distancing efforts there.
The beach is great and was not crowded, even on a Saturday (gray skies threatened rain and many people left). We stayed as it’s easy to run back to the motel if need be. There are a few beach loungers provided but you cannot move them (would be nice to be closer to the water). There is also an area to wash your feet.
They have instituted a one car only parking pass rule, which I’ve noticed other resorts are also doing. This is a big inconvenience if you are meeting a friend or family member there and will share a room. You cannot buy an extra pass so would have to park at a nearby public parking lot.
We have enjoyed our stays there and I look forward to going back.

We stayed a week to be near friends. Our reservation had to be adjusted at the last minute which was done with grace and ease. Rooms were spotless, pool clean and the beach was beautiful. The fact that Sandbar Bill's was packed tells you how good the food and service was every day. Staff were given reduced hours for Thanksgiving which really impressed us as they all came early to clean the rooms!

My cousin and I went here for couple nights and what a great place! It was clean the location was perfect and sandbar bills on the beach was perfect too! The room was very clean, available right on time and had everything they promised.. coffee maker microwave and mini fridge all worked and were very clean. The bathroom was beautiful and looked to be recently updated. They have 2 pools but we spent all of our time on the beach. The beach was clean and big and not crowded at all which was nice. Sandbar bills makes a good Bloody Mary thanks to Mark the bartender he remembered my drinks and what I ate the day before! I would highly recommend the veggie kabob, you can’t get it without chicken but I just ate everything except chicken and cheese and sour cream, I made a huge salad of all the veggies and it was really awesome! And the hotel price was less than all of the other hotels in area, which was a bonus ! I will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!

It was so nice to see that the laundry facilities had been updated along with the couch mattresses!!
Very disappointed in regards to how often the smell of marijuana was present all around the hotel rooms and other common areas. The staff/owners were some days very nice but other days very gripey. They seem to have “one rule for this guest, and it’s ok for that guest, but not ok for them” attitudes and it’s very obvious. Very skimpy on towel service and if you asked for more it was inconveniencing them. Oh well it is what it is

We were asked to vacate a grill. One of two grills with nobody waiting. The owner “Karen” told me herself that we weren’t using them and needed to leave. I can only assume it was for the bridal party there. They were however self catering. There food as well as mine smelled great. We were actively using the grill much to her surprise but she wouldn’t back down. Karen doesn’t care about the “little family”. Beware that she doesn’t care about you personally or your family.

Response from Catherine Grace, General Manager at Bon Aire Resort
Responded May 13, 2021
Joshua Johnson, What happened the other night was based on your inability to practice common courtesy with our amenities as well as your disrespect towards my property and my staff. You had not only taken up the entire (two) grill area, but you had taken an 8 person table and the lounge area nearby. I personally saw the mess that you left and that the entire area you were no longer using had your stuff all over it. When our maintenance man asked you to move your things, you replied with "I am using it to hold my stuff." The Bon-Aire has 81 rooms on property with everyone paying to use the amenities. The majority of our guests are aware of that fact and treat other guests and our staff with respect. Thank you for giving us the chance to respond to your 1 star reviews on both Trip Advisor and Google, because it shows that we do not tolerate behavior like yours this past weekend. We are trying to create and maintain an environment that is conscientious and respectful to all staff and guests at the Bon-Aire. Although you want to chalk me up to be a "Karen," my name is Cathy, and I take a lot of pride in my business.

We just returned from March break with two teenagers.
We rented a ground floor beach front suite.
Rooms are clean and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need if you wanted to cook.
The maids were eager to clean rooms every morning.
The beach bar is by far the best part.
The food coming out of that kitchen all day was amazing and you can't beat the price.
The beach is breathtaking, the best white sand this side of Cuba.
Two wild dolphins swam right beside me.

This retro motel is anything but retro. The rooms are nicely updated, very clean, comfortable, and the staff is amazingly friendly. The rooms were reasonably priced as well. I wasn’t impressed with the salad I ordered at Sand Dollar Bill’s, but really, who orders a salad while on vacation?!! Ha ha. My mistake. Everyone else’s meals looked pretty good. I was on a working vacation and was having problems with the internet, and the front desk staff bent over backwards to help me out. I’ll definitely stay here again.

Great Place to Stay! Room was excellent and very clean.
Sandbar Bills is the place to eat drink, and make new friends!
Cant wait to get back! The House Keeping crew was there every morning to see if we needed the room cleaned and extra Towels.

We spent a couple of really nice days here this week. We enjoyed it so much! Our room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The grounds were well cared for. Everyone that worked there that we encountered was so friendly and seemed to be working so hard, with a great attitude! We had been concerned about red tide, but the gulf was beautiful! No dead fish on the beach and best of all, no odor!! Sandbar Bill's was also great. The young lady who was bar tending was also very friendly and knowledgeable, it was a pleasure chatting with her! We enjoyed our burgers one night, and nachos the next night could've fed a super bowl party!! This was our first visit here, but I certainly hope it won't be our last! Thank you so much Bon Aire!!

A great little beachside motel! This place is a great motel on St. Pete Beach. Easy access for morning walks on the beach in addition to your beach day. You can fish from the beach but the action was a little slow. Two beautiful pools, and snack bar and laundry. Very clean and updated in the room and everything thing you need in the kitchenette. It is a little busy if your room is overlooking the courtyard but the pools close at dusk and the rooms are very well insulated from any sound outside. Totally enjoyed our stay!

I would think you would need a car to go to some of the restaurants and sights a little further away.
Hello. Yes you can smoke outside. The rooms are all non smoking however you are able to smoke outside of the room and around Sandbar Bill's.
