1. Location was perfect. Right in the heart of SPB and also just a short walk to the beach. This is on the gulf side of Gulf Blvd so you don’t have to cross any streets to get to the beach!
2. 2 Pools! They’re right next to each other but it was nice because it seemed like there was always room.
3. They had floats, noodles, water toys, beach toys that you could use. This would be very helpful if you were traveling and didn’t want to drag all this stuff with you!
4. The price is very fair. We stayed 4 nights (M-F) and paid less than $500. I mean you can’t really complain about that.
5. I was alone with my 5 year old and it was nice that the gated court yard area provided some “security” so he had some freedom.
6. They had grills, tables, a gazebo, a smoking area, laundry, and a closet of “extras” in case you needed something. A nice touch I thought!
My biggest issue was the bathroom which definitely needs to be gutted and remodeled. The tub had significant rusting in it and the faucet ran non-stop most likely due to age. The property in general seemed to attract a crowd that was visiting to drink, smoke, and loudly “party”’by the pool which at times was hard to handle with a young kid. I don’t think I would’ve noticed it without a child though; just something to think about if you’re traveling with kids. Parking is also limited so our final day there I didn’t leave at all because I was afraid if I lost my spot, I wouldn’t get another one.
I’m a local so I likely won’t be back as there are so many other options. But if you are looking for something simple and economical and you’re okay with the few cons I listed, then I say book your stay! St. Pete Beach is beautiful!
1) location - right on beach
2) 2 super clean pools
3) In room A/C - amazingly cold
4) King size bed very comfortable
5) nice outdoor, gas grills to cook your own meals
6) very friendly ladies dong the room cleaning
Good things:
1) price
2) kitchenette
3) nice space out back to hang up wet clothes
4) plenty of room for socializing outside
5) lizards and friendly birds
Needs improvement:
1) hide a bed in 13 needs replacing - badly!
2) New window blinds throughout. Courtyard is very bright at night and the blinds do a poor job of blocking out light.
3) Many places where facia boards, guttering, or aluminum trim needs repair / replaced.
4) difficult at times to catch staff in the office. Could definitely use staff at night to help with guest noise after hours.
5) Rooms each need their own broom and dust pan in order to keep up with the sand inevitably comes in and out arch day.
We had an excellent stay here I would definitely stay here again. There are just some minor things that I think could be easily improved and would make this close to that five out of five for all travelers.
This is why I usually check the room before I pay, but we happened to get this one site unseen.
To top it off, the entire toilet moves when you sit down, so I just hope it lasts through the night hahaha.
The one plus from the place is a beautiful sunset overlooking the dunes, so if the owners actually put a little bit of TLC into this place it would actually be a very nice place to stay but not at this time. Safety and security is very important to me and when I know that I have a window that I cannot secure, in the office is closed so I can't tell anyone; that is a problem.
It's incredibly spartan, what's there is worn, old, and filthy. It was very cold the weekend we stayed, we had to spend more time in the room than normal, consequently we were trapped in side. There where NO comforts of any kind. There is an air conditioner in the corner of the room, that had buttons to switch it to warm air. When switched on, something started to burn, the stench was unbearable. The windows would not open, so we opened the front door to let air in, our neighbors in the next unit proceeded to smoke outside our door and we were forced to close it, trapping us inside with the putrid burning stench.
This place isn't habitable. For. Anyone! Made worse by paying nearly $200 per night.
Do yourself a favor, pass this one up.
