We decided to make our last day in FL a beach day and booked this resort. It's small but well kept and was perfect for a quick stay. The pool was clean and warm, the beach area was kept and clean. Our room was clean and comfortable. The only negative I have is small, the hotel staff isn't there at night and only available by phone. There were a lot of people partying and being loud at night that kept us up, but it was all in good fun.

Hotel's Favorite
When I travel I research for hours and hours to determine the best place to make memories with my family. I’ve been looking to stay at this property for years and I finally made it happen for Thanksgiving break. Absolutely wonderful property with even better people. Check in was welcoming and easy, policies and procedures were well explained. All employees were masking, even outdoors. Lobby is cozy and fun with fabulous retro music that can also be heard while playing jumbo connect 4, ping pong of Jenga right outside the lobby. Our room was ready earlier than expected, which is always a pleasant surprise. Our room was very clean, well-equipped and spacious. The pool area was inviting and never too busy to find open chairs. Loved the grill area, corn hole and shuffle board adjacent to the pool area. Publix is across the street, which was very convenient for us to spend time by the pool playing games and grilling out. Direct beach access is incredible. I spent every morning walking the beach, afternoons in the ocean and every night viewing the sunset. This beach is one of my absolute favorite places to be. It is clean, safe, no high rise buildings and not crowded. I loved this place so much that after staying 3 nights we visited family for Thanksgiving and I cancelled our other hotel reservation and returned to stay here for the remainder of our vacation. This is not only a place that is wonderful for families but it is also a place that I would feel completely comfortable returning to on my own for a wellness retreat. Lastly, I want to thank the staff. The hospitality is top notch. It was our pleasure meeting all of you! Sheldon was gracious and genuine. Austin was helpful and courteous. Thank you to Nika, Shane, Tyrell and Dan. This staff checks in on you to make sure your accommodations are satisfactory and will do whatever it takes to make certain guests have an amazing stay. I am looking forward to returning as soon as life’s responsibilities allow and I am hoping to make Plaza Beach my family’s vacation tradition for years to come. See you all soon!

Response from Robert C, General Manager at Plaza Beach Hotel - Beachfront Resort
Responded Jan 25, 2021
Good Evening Leslie, The entire team here is very honored to have had you and your family with us during the special Thanksgiving time of year. I want to start by writing that time is something you will never get back so it means the world to us that you took the time to write such a well written great review of your stay with us. I see you made great use of our games and amenities that we offer at our resort. I like reading that you enjoyed our location and distance to everything you wanted to do or eat while here with us. What means the most is that you mentioned our staff by name. We truly feel that we have an incredible team. I will personally take care of the staff members that you mentioned in your review. We all here are looking forward to your return as soon as your schedule permits. Until next time. Please stay safe and well: Robert - General Manager

We recently stayed 3 short nights and we are so sad we didn't book for longer. This was our first time in St. Pete beach and we absolutely will be back! The hotel itself is cute and clean. The kitchen was great with stovetop, microwave and fridge. There was so much to keep us entertained- shuffleboard, corn hole, ping-pong, Foosball, small mini golf course, beach volleyball and giant jenga. The pool is small but never felt crowded. You cannot beat the location of all the rooms being right at the pool and beach! The pool bar had fantastic and affordable drinks!!!! The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The only issue we had was that on the first day we got there the heated pool was freezing. This was addressed immediately and they followed up with us to ensure the resolution. Absolutely can't say enough wonderful things and we cannot wait to come back and stay longer!!

This is a fun quirky motel with the best beach and sunset views. Chris has modernized it, and kept the 50’s charm. My wife and I enjoyed a week of evening sundowners, while chatting with the friendly guests from our ground -floor end unit patio facing the beach. Type of person that will probably not like this place: some areas are worn, and as mentioned by others, tile and bathroom are remodeled, but still has small shower tub. Kids are playful and loud, but that all calms down around 9pm. But for us the positives are plenty, when you get past the motel look. The staff is attentive and does a great job on maintaining the property. We had an air conditioning problem and they promptly tried to fix and then replaced the unit the very next morning. On property bar, plenty of walkable restaurants, so we didn’t even use the small kitchenette, other than heating up left-overs. Love that you can walk across to the inlet side property and fish off their dock. No license required, which BTW, are the pet friendly properties. We will definitely be back.

Check in was great. The employees working in the lobby are all great at what they do. We liked having a wrist band as our room key, rather than carrying a separate room key. The room was clean, for the most part. There were some areas that seemed a bit neglected. Bathrooms are small. No shower, just the tub, with a shower head. Cleaning is done, if you pay for it. You can leave your towels outside to exchange them for new ones. Some days they arrived early. Other days, we had to ask. When you get back from the pool or beach at 4:00, you typically want to shower. The towels were gray and dingy, and could stand to be replaced with some new ones. We liked having the small kitchen and a beach bag to use, and we really enjoyed the small balcony/patio for eating lunch or sitting in the evening to watch the sunset. Our room was conveniently located near the pool and beach. I heard several people comment they could use more umbrellas at the pool. I would suggest trying to get a room on the second floor. We had super noisy neighbors from morning until night. Not the hotel’s fault, but super frustrating at times. The happy hour from 4-5 is a nice touch, and appreciated by the guests. The hotel is within walking distance to Walgreens, Publix and quite a few restaurants. It was fine for a few days, but being a family that travels quite a bit, we have stayed in much nicer accommodations for this price, which was $443/night.
