We spend 2 weeks in SGI and made many trips to the park. The park beaches allow you to have beaches to yourself to commune with nature or a nice walk with someone special. I would have to say the shell hunting here is much better than the city beaches. There is a great campground in the park that is...

Awesome views, beaches and park amenities. Dunes galore! The sand is like sugar, soft on the feet. You need to book ahead if you want to stay in the campground, not if just visiting the park. They take reservations up to 11 months in advance. Our child participated in the junior ranger program and enjoyed it. It's a free offering...

I stayed at the campground. It is about 5 miles down the road from the park entrance. Small sand dunes on the drive down the road. A few parking areas and a couple larger areas with full facilities. Very nice white sand beaches. The road ends at a gate that can be opened by code for autos by permit or...

Let me start with the positive. Camping at St. George Island State Park was great. The campground and shower houses are clean and in great condition. Most sites are fairly private and large enough for a large RV with slides and awning extended. A short walk or drive to the beach, which was absolutely fantastic. Not crowded at all, unless...

The campground is less than average. The bathrooms were filthy and not cleaned, even though it had just been closed for cleaning. The mosquitos were OUT OF CONTROL! It was impossible to be outside even with bugspray and citronella candles. The host was offput that I had asked him for ice (because that's the only place you can buy ice...

This park is a beautiful way to spend a day. It has all the facilities you need, soft sand, and a warm water swim. It is rarely crowded and cheap to get in. There are also various ecosystems to visit in the park. So, pack some water and enjoy a fabulous day wandering around.

Great for campers . 9 miles of coastline of which miles are restricted for fishing and shelling, 2 pavilions for showers and grilling areas. Better for campers than sightseers. Very well maintained. Voted best state park nationally for 3 years.

About a 20 minute drive from Apalachicola. If you are nearby, don't miss this beach. Grab some lunch in town and head for the beach. There's a small admission fee, get there early and enjoy the full day.

My family and I were staying at Divine Porpoise, a house in the East End neighborhood of St. George Island. We were having a boring day, and my dad suggested that we check out the Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park, only a few minutes away. So we drove out of the East End and into the...

This is our family's 4th trip to the campground. The weather was perfect. The campground is small and secluded, nestled towards the east end of the island. Not too far from restaurants, yet far enough away from the crowds. Beaches are not crowded and very nice. If you are s camper this is s must do!
