Perfect location, excellent service, and exceptional breakfast. The room we reserved had a large balcony and I enjoyed complimentary coffee and wine daily while enjoying the view and the sounds of the city. Rooms are on the small side so plan accordingly. Christian and Marion are exceptional hosts. Recommend highly!!!
Christian was great upon arrival the parking is very tight but he was there to help out. The room we had is small with not a lot of space but it was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The location is great walking distance to all the restaurants and shops. great weekend getaway for us.
There is a recent review by Tom that I completely agree with so will not reiterate in detail. Overall, excellent location, but rooms are small and some communication issues. The Charlotte Inn next door is managed/owned by the same people. I did not see the rooms in Charlotte inn but communal areas were more spacious and nicer decorated than Hemingway.
What an amazing stay. The host, Christian was awesome; anything we needed he was on it. The room was spacious and beautiful. The inn is within walking distance to major attractions. Highly recommended.
We recently stayed at the Hemmingway House B&B for our anniversary. First, I will start with the good (for the Martha Room): • Location – The location is amazing right in the middle of downtown St. Augustine! Walk a block to the east and you see the water and Bridge of Lions. Walk a block to the west and you’re on St. George Street with all the shops and great places to eat. • Front Porch and Balcony – Were amazing! Great views, people watch, catch the ocean breeze and relax. • Clean – The Inn is very clean. • Social Hour – A nice wine and small, tasty muffins were made available along with coffee, tea, etc. • Shower – The shower and overall bathroom were new and modern. • Beds – Were very comfortable. • Parking – While compact, it was very nice to have parking onsite. • Greeting upon arrival – The staff was very friendly and explained the amenities of the inn and took us to our room. Now for the items that could use improvement: • Rooms are very small. Which is expected in an older home. I bring this up because there was extremely limited counter or table space to place anything (we had to place personal items on the floor). The end tables were the smallest I have ever seen. They really should consider installing some small wall shelves, larger night tables, etc. Maybe some more mirrors would make the room seem larger? • Decorations and theming are lacking in the room we stayed. Very blah. There was one lonely picture on the wall and two hanging candles. • Maintenance – The window blinds (privacy from the street and bar next door) were mostly broken and missing pieces, so they were extremely hard to close or open. This was interesting when trying to take a shower and use the facilities. • Service – The staff was not very interactive at breakfast. No one said good morning. They didn’t explain the breakfast. Very stand offish. • Breakfast – The food was disappointing. The pictures online were nothing like what was served. The casserole was dry, very little ham, barely any sauce. • Noise Level – They do warn you online that things can get lively in the evening. They are correct! Being between three bars, the later it got, the noise levels increased. We were woken up several times between the 11pm and 1am timeframe. It’s a shame the City allows bars right next door to the beautiful B&Bs. I do not hold this against the B&B and I am thankful they warn you ahead of time on their website. Overall, the pros far outweigh any cons, and I would consider staying at this B&B again…
We stayed at the Hemingway B&B for my husband’s birthday. Joyce made us feel welcome and at ease. The check in process was literally so easy. We were in our room 3 minutes after arriving. The B&B was cozy, clean and inviting. Breakfast was served at 9am and it was delicious. The location is perfect, walking distance from restaurants, shops and the main attractions. We loved our stay and will visit again.
We had visited a Hemingway House for our Marriage anniversary. The location is very ideal for people who love to walk around. You have all shops and restaurants within walking distance. The outer space is ideal for photo fanatics and you can spend hours taking snaps. The hosts were really nice and friendly. Even though we forgot to inform about our dietary needs, they were kind enough to make last minute adjustments on our request. It’s definitely a place to give it a try for 1st timers and revisit for repeaters.
Great location and access to shopping, restaurants, and sites. The hostess that greeted us and served us breakfast was very nice. We had brought our truck for driving onto the beach, but no accessible parking at the site, but they were able to accommodate us for parking a few blocks away. Overall, it worked out. On the website no pictures of the room we stayed at ot was called the Hadley Richardson room, number 11. I've included pictures. Spacious compared to other rooms I have stayed at regarding bed and breakfast in St. Augustine.
Ideal location, clean rooms and nice complimentary coffee/snack/water/wine options in lobby. The provided parking is very helpful as were the staff in terms of responsiveness and items provided. Most importantly the AC is very efficient.
Picked Hemingway House as a last minute staycation before my daughter heads off to college. Was looking to be in the middle of everything but not right on top of the "party". Hemingway is in a Perfect location, steps to everything my daughter and I wanted to do, ghost tour, the fort, food food and more food. We didn't used our car the whole time we were there. At 915 in the morning they had the sweetest set up downstairs for breakfast, juice, coffee water fruit some sort of breakfast casserole, caramelized pineapple was delicious and a lovely your woman serving it all as it came out of the oven. They text you when your room is ready, and respond immediately if you text them. PROS: clean, centrally located, good breakfast, wine coffee tea and snacks available 24/7. CONS: parking is tight, can't accommodate a large vehicle, and at times from the front 2 rooms you can hear the "partiers" at nearby bars (in all fairness they do warn you about those two things prior to renting) the house has a few small areas that need repair/paint but all very clean…
