The Pirate Haus has a great location, reasonable rooms and attentive staff, BUT the reason my wife and I stayed was for a night's sleep to get to the JAX airport early. Each room has a binder that explains the rules and regulations of the Haus. The one that caught my eye was a quiet period that extends from 10pm-7am daily. According to the house rules they are strictly enforced. NOT TRUE. From 11pm-3am there were consistent groups of drunks screaming, cursing & fighting throughout our floor. You can call management, but you'll only receive a polite voicemail. Families with small kids - BEWARE.
Honestly, we were a little leary booking this stay, but so glad we did! If you're a family with young kids, they'll really love it! Pancakes for breakfast were awesome! Being able to park right downtown and be able to walk to anything you wanted to do was a great relief! We walked to the hop on/hop off trolley for the tour (which is worht it as well!). If we're ever back in St Augustine, will be staying here!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pirate Haus. While this is a no-frills establishment, our room was clean, the (king-size!) bed was comfortable, and the pirate motif was fun. We especially enjoyed meeting the new owner, Jenny, who cooked us personalized pancakes every morning, and a very nice Mom and two of her children with whom we shared the breakfast table. If we find ourselves back in St. Augustine, we would definitely stay here again. Check out the nearby Chianti Room (part of PizzAlley's) for the best Happy Hour in town!!!
On our 2022 “Coastal Crazies” scavenger hunt, Pirate Haus was on the list and what a cool venue and helpful. Location is perfect for anyone who wants to tour historic downtown, well within walking distance to everything in St.A. Our daughter stayed here and loved the themed “jungle room” . Thank you!
This is our second time here and it was just as great as the first. It is an unbeatable price for staying in downtown St. Augustine where you can walk to everything. Parking only costs $10 a day which one again is amazing for downtown. We are a family of six and it can be difficult to find a hotel where I don't have to lie about the number of kids I have so this is great! We stayed in the Captain's Quarters this time which has a king bed and three sets of bunk beds. They have a treasure hunt in that room and my kids loved solving the codes to find their treasure - gold chocolate coins. The manager, Jeff, was amazing - very friendly and tried to help us out whenever he could. Not fancy, but still clean and comfortable
We enjoy 5 star resorts, and camping in our tent, this place gave us both. A safe welcoming place with excellent accommodations. No TV in room that my husband always reverts to in hotels. Here we spent TV one in the thief community room. I enjoyed playing their games with my grandson while my hubs was watching the TV. The deck was great too! My husband smokes so he’d go up there. It was very spacious so my grandson and I could play cards and chat while he has a cigarette. The room was SUPER clean, quiet, and quaint. Two sets of bunk beds and a queen bed could sleep 6. The decor was unique and amazing. The kitchen was available for use too. We enjoyed their coffee and ice. We dined up for free breakfast, but we had to leave early. The location is awesome! We took several walks around town and had a nice place to relax between them because they are located in the heart of the action and sights. To sum it up, a fantastic get away. No pressure to get fancy, just enjoy the beautiful St. Augustine ❤️…
We first visited the pirate haus 5 years ago with our family of 7. My kids remember it so fondly, we're headed back again this fall. The atmosphere is family friendly, creative and welcoming. Captain conrad is a pancake master and my kids still talk about how he wrote each of their names into their cake. Highly recommended if your family appreciates unique, creative, vacationing arrangements. (Plus it's a fantastic location)
Fun place to stay at in a great location within St. Augustine! My Family and I stayed in room 9. Room was clean and spacious. Excellent price especially considering location. Conrad was fun to talk to and nice! Same goes for the hotel staff. We will be coming back to stay here!
We enjoyed our stay. Clean rooms, definitely rustic which made it more enjoyable. The owners are great - best pancakes! If you want a place in the center of the action and are not one for mints on your pillows, stay here. The location allows for walking everywhere. ...=under 10 minutes to the Castillo, Flagler College, 90% of sites. Walk across the bridge and see the lighthouse - 2 miles, can walk to Fountain of Youth - about 20 min or so. We parked the car (free) and neve got in it for three days. Oh, no TV in the rooms - perfect. WIFI - excellent. We really were only in the room for sleeping and an afternoon rest/reorganization. This place used to be a hostel,,,very cool. Again - mom and pop joint - not like those big name/really big $$$ places.
A little different, No, A lot different! As some reviews have stayed, and yes I read each before booking here, this place is unique. If amenities and luxury are what you are after, this is not your place. The location is superb, can’t be beat! The staff are superb, can’t be beat. If you choose to stay here, you will automatically feel their love and kindness. The rooms each have a theme. The house is old, very old so that is what you get. Very few electric plugs, no couch or sitting area in your room but they have a community room with TV. They even have a community kitchen and fridge. It’s like a little family. You can cook your own meals or eat at one of the many many restaurants all within walking distance. The location for this Housel is perfect to take in the historical part of the town. There is no elevator and the stairs are steep but we would stay here again for an overnight. …
