Safety Harbor Resort & Spa offers spacious rooms, although some guests consider them to be in need of an update. While the hotel's charm resonates with certain visitors, others suggest the atmosphere could benefit from modernization. Cleanliness is a strong point, with travelers frequently applauding the well-kept environment. The amenities, including the wellness facilities and picturesque setting, are appreciated, yet some areas like the spa require attention. Service quality appears inconsistent, with excellent wellness staff but other service aspects falling short. Despite its desirable location near Tampa Bay, many guests feel the pricing is steep for the dated offerings.

Quite frankly, a 3 star review is a compliment that I don't really think this place truly deserves. We booked a girl's getaway for 3 days in a Deluxe room. I will let you be the judge of the Deluxe accommodations based on the pictures that I took. They call this place historic... it's definitely that, but it is also a rundown property with what seems like super poor upkeep and maintenance. In addition to being overpriced, the service leaves much to desire and certainly not what I have expected. Food at the Fountain Grill was horrible.. service throughout is not so very unfriendly. If you ask the staff a question they answer with an attitude and make it sound like they are doing you a favor.. However, staff and the food by the pool were great.
SPA services were good, but also overpriced for what you get. The rooms... I can't even.. disgusting.. we had to clean our room upon arrival ourselves just to make sure we could stay in it. Wifi sucks.. and I get that this is a SPA and you should not be on your phone but for those that wanted to be be able to connect to the world outside, you had to rely on your mobile network. Plugs in the room are straight up dangerously lose , some with exposed wires.. this place needs a major overhaul and then some.. in all areas..
There are better choices available.. don't be fooled by the historical image they try to sell you on.. find somewhere else to stay where $250 per night would be worth it...

We chose this location as it was centrally located among the guests we were inviting to our Golden Anniversary party. I worked with Maria who coordinated the details for party location, room layout, linens, cocktail hour, food, drink, DJ set up, dance floor, cake table, and greeting card table. Maria did not miss a beat. She was very attentive to me and all of my requests.

The food was wonderful. We had several types of hors d'oeuvers with chicken marsala and potato encrusted tilapia with twice baked potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Yum. The wait staff kept the dishes hot and served us.

Regina at the front desk was awesome. I had plenty of time to select my room as I booked in January 2019 for my occasion in September 2020. We dealt with Covid constraints and whether the party could happen at all. I would note that, if you are staying with multiple guest rooms, that you book in the same tower. There are 5 towers and they are only linked together via the second floor which is street level. With different room configurations and length of stay, we were distributed in three different towers.

Safety Harbor Resort and Spa is new to the Wyndham family. Our room was freshly painted and had comfortable furniture with a spectacular view of the pool and the harbor. Yes, we would stay again and explore more of quaint downtown Safety Harbor.

Very deceptive. I used RCI points and I was also charged a $ 259.00 full week exchange fee for a 3 day stay. Then upon leaving I received a $ 109.00 billing for $ 16.00 a day resort fee and other resort taxes. That is robbery. I could have booked through another source and saved my points and some money.
The only amenity we used was the pool and we had to buy food and drink from the pool grill. The town of Safety Harbor is very quaint and had unique shops and restaurants. I definitely would visit the town again. I should get a refund of points from RCI.
Also, there was no housekeeping service for the hotel rooms - they said it was because of Covid. We made our own beds, disposed of our trash, reused towels daily - I paid a great deal of money to have a relaxing birthday weekend. Ended up stressful and I felt I was taken advantage.

During the Christmas Holiday week we spent three nights here. The review gets two stars instead of one because the location is great--close to restaurants, shops, and the water.

The facility itself is not just old and outdated but in significant disrepair. Some of the glass doors leading to the room hallways have very large cracks running through them. The elevator we took (once) had a large metal panel 50% detached, flapping loudly from the mechanical vibration. The closet had mold in it. The safe was broken.

Service is also poor. After checking in we called the front desk to ask for some additional towels and hangars. We called back more than an hour later to inquire if someone was coming or if we should just go to the desk. Housekeeping then called us directly, indicating the front desk couldn't tell her what we wanted because, and I quote, 'we asked for too much'.

One morning in the restaurant we inquired about the cost for the buffet. The menu only listed the weekend price. The waitress said she had to check, which was a little odd. As we were filling our plates she came to us and said she misquoted the price. The correct price wasn't unreasonable but.....awkward!

The only thing I can say is if I worked for a place falling apart as badly as Safety Harbor is I might be completely unmotivated too. We are surprised it's still in operation. Do not be lured by the spa. It's not exceptional and not worth this experience.

Stay somewhere safe and friendly instead!

When I called before checking in to inquire about a particular room location, Regina’s response was “if you are not 100% happy with the location, I will find another room that you are!” Talk about peace of mind that she cared about my satisfaction. Regina is a professional hotelier!!

We spent two nights and as expected, housekeeping consisted of amenity delivery on request or guests pick up extra supplies at the front desk. It is today’s climate. I was able to check in early, the pool and Tiki Bar were great and thanks to the afternoon storm, we discovered the indoor pool and hot tubs this trip.

You can’t beat this resort for its casual elegance and very fair price. Safety Harbor is the perfect weekend destination.

Took me a while to get to this… but because of the amazing experience my family had for Christmas Brunch, I wanted to make sure that I commented on the experience.

For starters, I’ve never seen a situation where everything was so well organized and flowed so smoothly. Including the Check-In Process in a Staged Area outside of the Buffet Rooms.

There was no guesswork regarding where to go or what to do. Followed by a Staff Member to escort you to your seats.

On the way to your seat, you parade through a rather large Dessert Room. Of which I would been totally satisfied just pulling up a chair to one of the Dessert Tables with assorted sweets and calling it a day! This was NOT the time to be thinking of maintaining a Diet.

Beyond the Dessert room was an even LARGER room with a Carving Station, and (2) separate islands of different types of dishes ranging from pastas to seafood and chicken dishes. Also, there was a Kids table with several different options like Chicken fingers, Sliders and more. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize it was the Kids Table and stole some Sliders. Don’t tell anyone. Lol

About midway through this room… if you looked through the opening on the Right… you would notice an identical room with more food and (2) islands and tables also against every wall.

This room was dedicated to the multiple options for Breakfast. Including an Omelet Station and every imaginable Breakfast food known to man.

Unfortunately, I was only able to walk through this room because I was overwhelmed by all the delicious options in the main room. In fact, WAY too many options. But I did take advantage of the Dessert Room and tried roughly a half dozen small sweet treats.

Words do not do this experience justice. It’s something that you need to see and obviously taste for yourself.

• Music was provided by a very talented Pianist
• Seating was spacious and in “very large” dining areas that were convenient to the Staging and Serving Stations of food
• Service was OUTSTANDING, and the Staff was very attentive to your needs
• Food Quality was AMAZING, and the presentation was very appealing to the eyes and senses
• Reservations recommended for your best dining experience
• Atmosphere was fantastic and perfect for Holiday Photo opportunities outside of the dining area
• And the most impressive… Price Point was very modest considering everything that was provided

Hats off to Francois (Restaurant Manager), Ajith (General Manager) and the entire Safety Harbor Staff for setting up such an incredible experience.

The property is clearly very dated and tired and a little grubby in places. The greek theme is a little odd as well. It does have a nice outdoor pool area and you do get access to the spa where there is a lap pool, hot tubs and use of the gym, sauna, steam rooms and organised workout classes etc. The majority of the rooms have balconies but no surprise they manage to find the non-balcony rooms for RCI members. The very annoying trend to charge non optional resort fees applies here at $16 plus tax per room. Our bed was very comfortable. We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. It is set in a fantastic location at the base of the main street which is filled with delightful non chain restaurants and local boutiques. Lovely walk up to Phillipe Park and along the water. Overall we enjoyed the stay as the location is so good and as long as you accept it is very dated you will enjoy.

Our stay at Safety Harbor Spa was a poor experience. The room we were in (333) had a desk chair that was so filthy that you could not sit in it. The ceiling and wall were flaking, and the headboard had a big dent in it. The Athena elevator smelled like someone died in it. It was my birthday, so my friend had ordered strawberries and prosecco to be waiting in our room. They were delivered to the wrong room. We finally got them about 8 p.m., and the delivery person told us they had been delivered to the wrong room.
The next morning the spa staff overcharged me for our Sunday fun day. One of the spa check-in staff had thrown away one of paper spa funder gift cards because she did not know to apply it to our purchase.
The spa staff screwed up our massage times which resulted in my husband only receiving 20 minute massage instead of 50 minutes. My massage was interrupted by the haggling of the staff with my husband. The assistant manager on duty was a rude woman who said I had signed in too early, yet our spa itinerary stated we had to report to the spa desk at 8:30.
Even worse was the outdoor swimming pool. There was so much scum on the pool wall tile that you could write your name in it, and I did with my fingernail. There is no supervision, and the pool had more people in it than was legally allowed. If this is a spa, why are adults drinking in the pool and kids jumping all over me and knocking their parents’ drinks into the pool? There were no pool towels when we went to the pool either. So, there is no staff supervision and no staff taking care of pool towels. But there were plenty of them selling bar drinks.
The only saving grace were the manager and wait staff at the Sunday brunch. When the manager heard of our earlier problems, he had a bottle of prosecco sent to our table and the wait staff went out of their way to be gracious and accommodating.
I filled out a comment card for the general managers attention and have not even been contacted by him. There are only two reasons for poor performance like this: lack of training or lack of motivation. In the case of the Safety Harbor Spa, both are true, and it starts with the general manager. As much as I like the idea of having a tradable part week close to my home, the Safety Harbor Spa should not be part of RCI.

The management at this property does not support the concept of hospitality. I booked a reservation as part of a large group staying there. 5 days prior to the reservation I cancelled online as well as called and confirmed there was no reservation with the person I spoke with. They charged my card anyway. I called to get this resolved and was told by the manager on duty, Sylvia that although she had the authority to provide a refund she was choosing not to. I am a frequent traveler and have arranged conferences for groups of 300+. I've never seen this level of "customer service". Steer clear of this property.

Thought I was booking direct with hotel. Companies like yours that are hired to book rooms kind of scam us into it. After all your additional fees my $99 room cost $157. Ok. It was New Years Eve. So we did it. We get there, room was lovely. We were going elsewhere to celebrate. We were told when we got back to the hotel shortly after midnight we would be able to enjoy the festivities in the lounge. We walked in and someone ran over to us and said they were closing. The next morning we awake to an additional bill under our door for amenities fees such as two out door pools, (it was 50 degrees out), a conference room, (we were a couple, no need for that) and a couple other things that we had no use for. All we got to do was sleep there. After being lured into a lovely hotel for $99 a night and then spending nearly $200 it was a rip off.
