Excellent location with elite customer experience. We had a superior ocean view room, which was literally overlooking the beach just steps away. The general area was very quiet and upscale, yet just a short drive away from restaurants, grocery stores, and anything else you need up and down A1A. The dining on site was great, we loved the bar and grille area with its fireplace, food, and friendly atmosphere. The outdoor dining area was bustling during the day yet still good food and service, and it quiets down at night if you want to relax in the adult pool or hot tub area. There's also a family pool area that is bigger and great for kids. Our room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Gift shop is small yet the quality of the products is exceptional, I bought a quarter zip and shirt that were very pricey yet ultra soft and high end. Worth it for sure.
Finally, the staff goes above and beyond. The valets, front desk, food wait staff, bartenders, room service, cleaning staff...everyone was friendly, caring, and willing to do anything to make our stay warm and fun. We would go back here in a heartbeat.
This was a great place to stay for a Jags game in November -- well away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and only a 15-20 minute drive from a shuttle bus stop to the game. We liked it so much we went back the next June.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Lodge & Club at Ponte Vedre during the beginning stages of opening up tourism from the coronavirus. Although all amenities were not open, full precautions were taken to make us feel safe.I cannot say enough about how courteous and accommodating the staff was. The Sea View Grille offers outstanding dining options and an incredible view to the Atlantic Ocean. The food was so good that we ate all of our meals on the premises for our 6 day stay. Buddy was the cordial host and Kevin was our server. Both were very friendly and welcoming. Kevin went above and beyond in his job as a server. He was polite, efficient, courteous, and overall a SUPER young man! I hope to be able to return one day to the Lodge! Great memories for our 33rd anniversary!

Dear Melody A, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience from staying at The Lodge & Club...and yes we are getting some normalcy back! That said, the team has done a wonderful job of adapting to today's intensified sanitation and distancing expectations while still delivering on the service expectations for which we are best known. I appreciate the kind words about Buddy & Kevin as they are two of our superstars and fixtures at The Lodge. Happy Anniversary and we look forward to welcoming you back home to The Lodge & Club very soon. Toes in the sand regards, C. Thayer Kern General Manager

Our room was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The view was beautiful right out side our door. There was easy access to the heated pool, hot tub, beach. We found the staff, especially Tom, extremely helpful and informative about how to get around the property and the area.

Dear Wendy E, We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience from staying at The Lodge & Club. Tom is one of our superstars and has been with The Lodge for 8+years...that said and with our staff tenure (13 years) he is an apprentice still learning his craft, Ha! I don’t usually write negative reviews, but in this case, I wish someone had given me the heads up about this over-rated motel (that’s motel with a M) so I feel obliged to pass my experience along.
Let’s start with what’s good: The Lodge is in a nice location with easy access to a wonderful beach. We stayed in a beach front room and the view was amazing. The room was well appointed, not quite to the level I would expect given the price, but it was nice enough. In hindsight though, I would have stayed at the Ritz in Amelia Island for roughly half the price.
Now the bad: The Lodge is literally a motel. Unless you valet, you have to self-park your car across the street and then haul your luggage upstairs along an outdoor walkway to get to your room. There are staff laundry carts sitting along the walkway and people’s dirty dishes laying outside their rooms (the ones next door to us were there all day).
On my way to bed the first night, I discovered a large cockroach crawling up the wall. After 30 minutes of pursuit behind curtains and furniture, I finally killed him. The next day I reported the roach to the front desk staff who were defensive and barely acknowledged the trouble I went through crawling around on the floor with a flashlight. Their solution was a $75 credit (i.e. bounty) for the roach. After this unpleasant encounter with the front desk staff, I returned to my room to find ants crawling up the wall from a rotten hole in the baseboard. This is clearly not what you expect in a supposedly high-end room.
Walking through the pool area, we noted that there were many more people around the pool and in the outdoor restaurant/bar than seemed to be staying at the motel. That’s because The Lodge is also a beach club for the locals who pay a monthly fee for access. This creates a different atmosphere than the relaxing vacation vibe we expected, and it also means the pool area reaches its capacity quickly. And if you choose to go to the beach instead, expect the hotel to charge you for beach chairs and umbrellas.
At checkout, I noted that we were overcharged for 2 of the 3 nights on the bill. I questioned it and was told that the weekend rate is actually $700/night. I showed the front desk person my Expedia receipt showing a nightly charge of $600/night and he refused to adjust the bill, stating instead that he would refer it to the finance manager on Monday. The finance manager did call me on Monday and agree to issue a refund stating that there had been a technical glitch. Really? I wonder how many people don’t notice this glitch.
In short, you’ve now been forewarned. Don’t stay here.
P.S. After I told these stories to the finance manager, he did offer a $200 refund to compensate for our poor experience. Too little, too late for me.

Dear David L We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience from staying at The Lodge & Club. As we are located directly on the beach occasionally insects will occasionally breach our defenses and make it into rooms, we deeply apologize for the experience. As you have shared, we are part private resort, part private club and The Lodge is a favorite location for our club members. I want to thank you for taking the time to speak directly with Robert Coryell our Director of Rooms at the end of your stay and hope we will have the opportunity to improve your experience in the future. I am available at your convenience for any requests. All my best, C. Thayer Kern General Manager

Just spent three nights with my wife and kids at this hotel, meeting point for us as it is about the halfway point to our daughter's college. We had a premium end unit full ocean view with a side door, kids had partial ocean view. The grounds of this hotel especially on the road side would not be fit for a Motel 6, most tile is cracked or missing on the walkways, covered lights haven't had covers in years, courtyard fountains that obviously haven't been maintained since Clinton was in office, etc. Our room was SO mildew smelling it took a while to get use to it, kid's room was ok. Very old bathrooms, showers didn't drain, toilets didn't flush, once again...you wouldn't put up with this in a Motel 6...the hotel is living off of the beach location which is sensational. Staff were extremely nice, beach staff were the fastest we have ever experienced, but the place is a bit of a sinking ship...at some point you can't keep putting lipstick on the old pig!!

We visited about 7 years ago and this place was simply marvelous. This trip we had a few hiccups but the staff definitely made up for it. Customer service and service recovery make up 99% of satisfaction and they were on point in both of these areas. EVERY single staff person was always super friendly and always had a smile on their face.... bellman, front desk, room service, beach chair attendant. I mean every single person. Also this is the only place that I know of who is waiving the resort fee right now. Which is definitely the right thing to do during COVID if you can't provide the amenities. They removed the coffee pots and all glassware from the rooms. I was good with that. Again especially during this time. I took my own Keurig, pods, and coffee cup. No biggie. I also took my own acrylic wine glasses. Refrigerators remain in all of the rooms. No housekeeping provided due to COVID but they will bring you towels and toiletries upon request. Again, I'm fine with this. That means less exposure. This trip We had a superior ocean front. The last trip we had the preferred ocean front. I was just as pleased with the superior. The view was awseome! We sat on the beach all day and on our balcony all night. Very peaceful and much needed relaxtion during these times.

Dear tbtravel68, We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience from staying at The Lodge & Club. As you have noticed, the staff truly are fantastic and have really embraced their creative can-do spirit during this [unique] time! Because there are items we have had to remove or reduce, the team continues to challenge themselves on "what else can we do?"...and I am so proud to see the results. We appreciate your kind words and I will most certainly be sharing them with the team. All my best and toes in the sand regards, C. Thayer Kern General Manager

Stayed for two nights. Checkin was very easy with the receptionist providing a lot of information about the area. Room was a suite which we really like. The bed was very, very hard and uncomfortable. What we didn't like was the noise. If the guy next door zipped his pants, I jumped. The hallways were very noisy until late at night and then again early in the morning. Masks are required but not enforced by the staff. Several people were not wearing one, even at the front desk.

Responded Sep 17, 2020
Dear 664BarryC, We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience from staying at The Lodge & Club. Please let me apologize for the noise issues you experienced as this is quite out of the ordinary for us. I will say that they were addressed but unfortunately it provided a negative take away for you. Currently the wearing of masks is not a requirement in St. John’s County. We do recommend to all guests the use of masks however at this time, we are unable to enforce the practice with our guests as it is not a county ordinance. Our Mattresses are the Simmons Felicity Recharge Pillow Top Mattress with Enduro Tech Foundation and the hospitality luxury model. Upon your next visit, please share your mattress firm/soft preference with the front desk prior to arrival so we are able to add an additional pillow topper for your comfort, as our mattresses are slightly firm. We are very proud of the facility and our amazing location, thank you so much for the kind words about the staff. We truly have the best in the business. Lastly, I would ask that you please reach out to me directly for your next visit so I may handle your reservations personally. All my best and toes in the sand regards, C. Thayer Kern General Manager

I’m going to make this review relatively simple; the The Lodge and Club has lost its value.
My wife and I started coming here in 2017. Back then, an Ocean Front Premium Room was $299-$339. We drove up from Sarasota often, about once every two months and did three day weekends. Loved this place and thought while not cheap, it was a good value and the staff was amazing! Over the last few years, rooms have more than doubled. What was $339 a night is now $799 a night, and there isn’t any property improvements that I can notice. So two nights is almost $2K and we would easily spend another $500 at the resort in two days. So $2500 to stay at the resort for two days doesn’t have any value to us anymore with so many other options on the market.
I mean, I can rent a four bedroom ocean front house, on the same beach for less a night! I LOVED the Lodge and Club! We would spend most of our disposable income here, but it’s lost it’s value and management needs to reevaluate their prices because the 125% increase in 24 months will soon come back to bite them. Or maybe it won’t … but either way we won’t be back until there is a semblance of value again.

We came down from Savannah for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday and The Lodge & Club did not disappoint! We have a Deluxe Ocean Front Room- King bed. The room is beautiful, clean, nicely stocked! Fireplace in front of the bed, refrigerator, coffee maker and we requested a microwave which they will bring for free. The rooms are quiet and spacious- plus right on the beach. We saw dolphins swimming and playing when we arrived from our private balcony. We’ve ordered room service several times and it’s been wonderful and fast. 30 minutes every time, portions are nice, they include everything you could need and free bottled water. I can’t wait to come back in the summer to enjoy the beach! They’re running a special right now, pay 2 nights get the 3rd free- GREAT deal!

Dear KimberlyR734, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience from saying at The Lodge & Club and Happy Birthday from the whole staff. You have hit so many of our great points about The Lodge and would only add that we have a very romantic get-away spot here on the beach. As we resume more of our amenities, I strongly recommend our full service breakfast for sunrise on your balcony or a quiet glass of wine watching the moon rise over the ocean-front fire pit…both are a spectacular experience. Happy Birthday again and [wink, wink] we’ll see you next year! Toes in the sand regards, C. Thayer Kern General Manager

Hello! Both have pools. The pretty oceanfront pool pictured is Adults Only at the lodge, the family pool is across the street at their fitness center and spa building.
There are other pools, including an oceanfront kids’ pool at the Inn, you have access to both locations.
My advice, if traveling with small children, stay at the Inn. If not, the Lodge is nice and more quiet, IMO.
