My family has been visiting here for decades, and it remains our favorite beach destination. Over the years, we've watched national brands construct competing resorts along the north Florida coast, but none of them have dethroned the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. Almost every room is oceanfront, meaning just that: the sand is a few steps from the room's patio door - not five stories down, across a pool complex, or a shuttle ride away. You cannot be closer to the beach without pitching a tent. The resort does not rest on its laurels and is constantly updating its facilities and service. It's tough to maintain a sprawling complex like this in the salty and humid climate, but rest assured that in the unlikely event you find something worn or in disrepair, the resort will quickly respond to address it. Rooms vary a bit among the different buildings, but there's not a bad one in the bunch. We appreciate the microwave, fridge, dishes, glasses, and utensils in the room. Pools, tennis, spa, golf, beach rentals, children's activities are all first rate; the hula hoop contest and sand castle building competition have been traditions for my kids. Food and beverage range from typical country club fare to some truly spectacular special event options; my family still talks about the 4th of July cupcake buffet from a few years ago. This is not a bargain resort, so you may have to pay a teenager to carry chairs and an umbrella and set them up on the sand directly in front of your room, and a friendly bartender who chats you up and makes you feel very welcome while custom-making a drink at the oceanfront bar may charge you a few bucks for that. One of these things that makes this resort special, though, is that level of service. Everyone from the bellman at reception to the beach rental guys goes out of their way to make sure my family feels looked after and welcomed, and it feels like real service, not a corporate mandate; some of the staff members have watched my kids grow up and greet them by name year after year. It's that sense of continuity, and adding our family to the Inn's tradition, that will keep us coming back for many more years. We prefer to call for reservations and request rooms in specific buildings. Peyton House and Ocean House were built in 2020 and are most deluxe buildings, and they're also closest to the pools. Summer House and St. Johns House reopened in 2022 after extensive renovations, and Gate House did the same a few years before that. Guests who want the latest and greatest might prefer those buildings. Our family prefers Florida House and Georgia House, which have a few more miles on them but are still pretty great. Island House and the Historic Inn are closer to the golf courses but too far from the beach for our family. The resort offers a golf cart shuttle that will pick you up at your room and transport you anywhere on the resort.…
Nothing better in country for premiere golf, tennis, spa, pools, and all right on beach. Not to mention, the service was stellar and accommodations great. Only negative was the charge for beach chairs and umbrellas. Should be included with resort fee of almost $30 a day.
I was there for 4 nights from Aug 8 to 12. The hotel pretend to be a 5 stars hotel, but to me is a 3 star if you are generous. It is run down property in urgent need of repairs and maintenance. They charge a resort fee and on top they try to rip you off charging $15 for a rusted beach chair and $15 for a torn umbrella. The bar Tavern is another rip off..$ 24 for a burger and the cocktails in the price list shows $14, I order a Negroni and charged me for each ingredient for a total of $21. The adult pool is in total disrepair. The chairs need to be replaced, the umbrellas have holes in the fabric, the walls surrounding the pool are spiderwebbed. The management is totally absent.
Very nice venue and friendly staff. They are currently undergoing renovations at the building next door which was disruptive. We stayed at the Gate House. Rooms were large and well decorated- great service. The adult pool is a major disappointment. Only lounge chairs were at the huge adult lap pool but nowhere to sit at the smaller adult pool. Also need more umbrellas. Lunchtime at pool was crazy and wait times over an hour to sit down. Need more options.
Ocean front suite is of course, gorgeous. Turned out it was extremely windy and cold so the whole point of the fabulous location was diminished a bit. Not much else to do at the beachfront area and the main lobby and shops is a bit of a walk (although you could call for a golf cart ride). Service is top notch and extremely accommodating. Very expensive.
wonderful ocean front, first floor room that opened up to the beach. very clean, and housekeepers were very attentive. I enjoyed the no cash policy. Decor was very nice and updated. Bathtub and shower were spacious. My only criticism was having to pay to rent beach chairs/umbrellas. I wish this service was provided given the price of the rooms.
From the moment I called to make a reservation to the moment we left after nine glorious nights at this magnificent resort. my husband and I were treated like royalty and were welcomed with warmth and kindness. Even before we arrived, all of our questions were answered and our special requests were addressed by the wonderful, Shaun O'Donnell, the Director of the Resort's Operations. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Graham Elwood, the Front Office Manager and his colleagues. It was such a lovely way to be welcomed after travelling quite a distance. We stayed in the exquisite superior oceanfront suite with a large and comfortable porch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The master bedroom with its luxurious king size bed and highest quality bed linens provided the perfect restful and peaceful night's sleep. From our porch, we saw ospreys and bald eagles fishing. We saw brown pelicans and American White pelicans and pods of dolphins frolicking in the ocean. Watching the evolving pinks, reds and purples of the sunrises each morning was breathtaking and inspirational! The kitchen included everything we needed for our stay - a full size refrigerator with different ice and chilled water options, a microwave, a dishwasher, and ample counter and cabinet space. When we requested any additional items like champagne glasses, they were promptly provided. When we ordered room service, the food was delicious and was served with a white linen tablecloth and beautiful silverware, plates and glassware. It arrived hot and with all of the needed accompaniments. The resort's signature restaurant, The Seahorse Grille, served gourmet food in a beautiful room overlooking the ocean. The service was impeccable, and we want to particularly thank our amazing, welcoming Hostess, Jianna, our attentive and professional servers Nicole and Thomas and the insightful Matt who was our knowledgeable sommelier. We had grilled oysters, broiled red snapper, with peas and artichoke hearts. Even their bread was not an afterthought - we could choose from grilled bread or simply delicious warm bread right out of the oven. In addition to our dinners at the Grille, we also had their extraordinary Sunday Brunch, which includes every possible Brunch food from homemade jellies and salsas to shrimp, crab claws, yummy fish spread, smoked salmon, egg dishes and roast beef, sausages and bacon. Thanks so much to massage therapist Amber for her provision of my Pink Himalayan Stone Massage at The Spa – it was so healing and calming…It was truly an immersive experience including aromatherapy and tranquil, soft music. We are so grateful for all of the professional, experienced Ponte Vedra Inn Staff Members for taking such wonderful care of us!…
We had a wonderful stay at the Inn this past winter with our two young children. While the weather was unseasonably cold for the area (even in January) - high 40s and windy - it was still sunny and our stay was warmed by the gracious welcome from every staff we encountered. From room service deliveries to pack-n-play setup, everyone was very accommodating of our needs. Alexa at the front desk was particularly helpful with requests as we had friends visiting for dinner and wanted extra pool passes that sadly ended up going to waste. As others have said, parts of the resort seem a bit dated, but we really enjoyed our room in the main building across the street from the beach. It’s a short walk to the pool and gym facilities, and there is always someone to run you back on a golf cart if needed, which was probably my son’s favorite activity. We also really enjoyed the breakfast sandwiches from the market. I hope to return in the future and fully explore what the resort has to offer as we were unfortunately limited in our options by the weather. Still, it was a top notch experience.…
We arrived yesterday....we are in love with Ponte Vedra Inn and Club! The room is decorated beautifully, very spacious, the oceanfront room has an incredible view. The food at every location has been incredible. Breakfast buffet is perfection! The people, the staff, the staff…you set the bar!! Ponte Vedra Inn has the best staff ever! Love the night time service and the little details! Our housekeeping service has been the best ever! We absolutely love Ponte Vedra Inn and Club and will be booking for summer! Love love love❤️❤️❤️
We attended a group event at the Inn but stayed elsewhere. To our dismay, we couldn’t pay for anything on site since we weren’t staying at the inn. I know this is part of the charm, but in today’s world they should take credit cards. We played golf on the lagoon course. Frankly, it looks like a public golf course, which it is. I wouldn’t waste my money.
