The Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa is a beachfront haven with guests lauding its direct beach access, inviting pool areas, and diverse dining choices. While the service garners acclaim for its warmth and attentiveness, there are also accounts of disorganization. Its tranquil, family-friendly atmosphere alongside entertainment options is highly regarded, though some suggest updates are needed. Room opinions vary; guests appreciate the cleanliness and views but note the decor could be refreshed. The location's serenity is a hit, despite self-parking limitations, and while the resort's value is acknowledged, the extra charges draw some criticism.

We stayed at the resort for two nights, one of which was a reward night and the other paid for through a third party booking site, both for a ocean-view balcony room. At check-in, Demetrius was awesome and made sure that our room was set up correctly (two different booking methods = two separate reservations, and we didn't want to have to check out and check back in). He also put us in a room with a stunning view of the beach. The room itself was nice, and clean, but the only special thing about it for the price was the view.

There isn't really anything in walking distance, so we ate at the hotel restaurant (the food we had was good, but spendy). Staff was friendly and service was good overall, but did seem spread a bit thin. Wait staff around the pool came by twice in the first 30 minutes we were there, and then not again for a couple of hours. We ultimately got up and got out own drinks. Coffee service in the room was not replenished during our stay. On our last morning, housekeeping knocked on our door around 9 a.m. and asked when we were leaving, which we thought was odd.

We would stay again using reward points or if we got an exceptional rate (lower than the rate we paid this time).

Thank you for your review and staying with us. We are pleased to hear about our friendly and helpful staff. Demetrius truly is wonderful. He likes to ensure that all of our guests are being treated like royalty. Actually there is plenty of Restaurants within a 20 minutes walking distance if you like to walk. I'm sorry to hear about our shortfall around the pool and Housekeeping services. I will be sure to address these concerns accordingly. Again, thank you for staying with us and we are looking forward to your next visit.

We stayed here for the 3rd time in 4 years. Every time before this was great. This year, they obviously are having problems with staffing. Imagine a resort bar with no bartender at the outside pool. I had to go inside to get a couple of drinks from an obviously angry bartender. He was the only one trending bar and had to work inside while everyone was outside. At an average price of $10 a drink, you would think poolside would yield the most profit. When we first checked in, we were given a handicapped accessible room with an ocean view and balcony as ordered, but if a handicapped person would have been in there, they would have broken a leg in the bathroom after a shower. There is no enclosed shower and all the water spilled out onto the bathroom floor even though there is a drain in the middle of the floor. I soaked up all the water while my wife went to the front desk to demand another room. We had to pack up our clothes again and move to the South Tower with 2 queen beds and a better ocean view. Valet service this time was slow at best. Not enough drivers. I felt sorry for the front staff who were very friendly and accommodating but it seemed at times overwhelmed. I missed the concierge, James, from the last time we stayed. They laid off many workers in 2020 and many haven't returned. I didn't see the concierge once during our 4 nights. I'm thinking this isn't a Marriott run resort but rather a hotel company running it because I don't think Marriott would tolerate this level of service. So, it looks like this is our final year staying there. It's a shame because we love the area and the hotel but maybe money spent better at some other resort hotel. By the way, we were there for Cinco de Mayo and the hotel advertised a live band, drink specials and a taco and enchilada stand from 12 to 4. Well, no live band showed up, drink specials weren't very special and they hid the stand in the corner and hardly anybody visited it. Poorly run restaurant in my opinion and when I finally saw somebody from management and asked him about the live music, he looked at his watch and said they should be here now; duh, yeah we know. Lots of money being lost in the restaurant and bar area. Bye bye Marriott Resort and Spa.

I have to say there were some issues that the hotel did not tell us about like the room service was cancelled and the restaurant was closed from M-TH. But that being said the room was very clean and when we complained about not having the ability to get lunch or drinks in the room or poolside, they did switch rooms for us giving us more space to at least prep our own lunch in the room. I would definitely come back! Again, the hotel is CLEAN, newer and updated! Thank you again Diego, the manager there was very nice. Best beach ever, a plus!!! The valet's were super friendly and nice as well, however I would have rather no valet's for COVID reasons but it was all good in the end!

The "Resort" is outdated with little amenities. You are given two (and ONLY two) small water bottles per day, and they were constantly out of towels.

One of the towers only had one working elevator with a sign on it that said "One Person/ One Family Only [due to Covid]". This elevator was small and dirty. Because the wait would be so long, guests would feel so bad not sharing one another. Staff would also get into the elevator with you- breaking their own Covid19 rules.

There is no room servicing due to Covid19. When we requested cleaning supplies to clean our own room, we were provided with two single packages of hand wipes. Staff also had to use the one working elevator with all of the guests.

There was no enforcing of Covid19 policies, just signs.

Some staff members were great during our stay- they seemed to handle the situations as well as they could. Others- not so much. I believe they need more support at this location from upper management or corporate.

We checked out early. I would recommend another hotel.

While the rest of the world is trying to return to normalcy, this “resort” is capitalizing on staying in it. We stayed here immediately before the pandemic in Feb/March 2020 and were thoroughly pleased. So when we decided to take our first vacation, we figured this would be a great choice. NOT!!

Just spent $1500+ for five nights with “alternate day housekeeping” without a discount for this inconvenience. We were told they were doing this to protect the guests. What difference does it make if housekeeping enters the room every day or every other day? And if a guest wants protection, I’m sure they could opt out of service. That’s what their competition (Hilton) is doing. And try to get towels and anything else that is normally provided with daily housekeeping on a timely basis!! That did not happen! Over $300 per night and I had to make my own bed!!

Breakfast was a disaster because they had two people available. One serving the buffet breakfast choices and one making omelettes. So if you wanted to go back for a danish or muffin, you had to wait at the end of the line.

My heart goes out to the staff who had to listen to disgruntled guests while management hid in their offices.

Still trying to find out if this was really a Marriott policy or an Urgo (hotel management company) policy. Either way, it’s despicable that a corporation would use the pandemic as an excuse to make a profit. And, I wouldn’t be surprised if they enjoyed the benefits of the PPP!

Shocked at how poorly this Marriott is managed. Check in time is 4 pm. At 7pm, our room waa finally ready. And there were multiple different guests expressing frustration by the ling wait. When we finally got to our room, we saw we needed to request sheets, pillows and towels to use the sofa bed for our kids. It is now 3 hours later, 10:15 pm, and well past my kids bedtime, and we are still waiting for them to arrive, and I have called 4 times asking for an update. Unacceptable. Do they really want children sleeping on beds without sheets during a pandemic?
There is only 1 working elevator for an entire tower full of guests during a pandemic.
Only thing going for this place is that
The beach is gorgeous and right here. Management and service need a wake up call.

Walking into the Beach Resort and Spa was like walking into heaven, after experiencing the Renaissance Pompano Beach, the place we left!
We stayed at the Marriott Pompano Resort and Spa in October for pur 40th anniversary.
I would not hesitate to stay here! The hotel was so pretty, sat on the beach, was very clean, updated, had beautifully appointed rooms, great decor, and most of all, a staff that is 5 star!!
During my stay, I became very ill, and there wasn't enough they could for me. When I finally made it to the pool on the last day, even the poolmstaff offered me water all day to keep me hydrated! From the front desk to room service staff, they are the very essence of what every hotel should be! Because without the people who work day in and day out to ensure the quality and service they do, hotels would be just that, a hotel. They are life force, and this group should be commended!!!

We booked this hotel because the “executive suite” looked really nice and being 7 months pregnant, the only thing I wanted to do on this trip was relax. Upon arrival, we were told they did not have our suite and put us in a room with queen beds for the first two nights. (7 months pregnant-can’t fit in a queen bed). Then on the day we were supposed to switch rooms, our room was not ready at 1:00, checked again at 3:00, finally at 4:30 we were told it was ready. We were told our keys would be delivered and someone would help move our bags. Keys were delivered and no one helped move our bags. We then had to move to a completely different tower and were given the lowest room where palm trees blocked part of our “oceanfront” view. In addition, the photo of the “executive suite” shows doors opening toward the ocean. Our doors opened toward a parking lot with dirty, foggy windows toward the ocean. The description of the executive suite said our room would have robes and slippers but none were provided. I also booked a mani/pedi at the resort a few weeks before our trip. It was canceled and unable to be rescheduled during our stay. The resort did provide free breakfast and $200 resort credit but when I looked up our stay, we paid $150 per person to upgrade to the suite. This trip was supposed to be our last chance to relax before the baby and a much needed trip after the COVID shut down, but unfortunately we were very disappointed. One positive is that the waiters/waitresses were so kind and the front desk was kind. The book/assigning of rooms, accommodations/communication when mistakes are made by the hotel, and overall honesty of the website descriptions could be drastically improved.

I posted a photo from the resort vs. the photo of our actual view.

A family wedding in the area is why we were here for four nights in February. As Marriotts go this property leaves a lot to be desired. I know that this is an oceanfront property. The weather will age the exterior quickly but the condition needs to be updated/refreshed. Our room was on the eighth floor, very quiet. But there was a huge stain on the wall in the bedroom that looked like some one attempted to remove but did not do a good job. After the first night we went to the restaurant for the buffet breakfast. The food was cold and hard. Even the coffee was old and cold. Never ate here again. Our room attendant had placed a card on our door which informed us that she would not be cleaning our room that day. I had to go to the front desk and tell them that it was to be cleaned and we wanted the room amenities that we were paying for. After that the stay was uneventful.
On the positive side, the location was perfect and all interactions with the staff were great. They were all very helpful and cheerful.

Prior to my visit, I was one skeptical BonVoy member about staying at this resort after reviewing the prior negative reviews listed but, decided to give this location a chance.

I spent 4 days at the resort with 2 other Couples. The staff starting from restaurant, bar,and the beach could not have been nicer.

The resort was asked to provide a private outdoor birthday dinner for our group which was absolutely amazing. The service and food for this special dinner could not have been better along with a visit from the resorts head chef.

The hotel rooms are pleasant and clean. Pool area was very nice to include pool bar staff who defiantly go out of their way to keep all guest well taken care of.

I would recommend you try this resort and hope you also find it as fun as we did. We will be back ASAP.

Thank you to “all” the staff for proving great service and thank you for returning to work so we could enjoy a vacation.

Not really much in less than a mile walk. We ate at a couple hotels over at the Seaside Grill. It was really good for seafood! We used the Circuit Ride service to go down towards the pier area. We loved Flanigans which is by the bridge & Publix. Also some good spots across from Flanigans…. We didn’t even eat at the hotel restaurant other than an afternoon appetizer.

Yes you can walk along the beach to the pier. It is probably a mile or so away. The beach is flat which makes the walk very doable. A bonus is that you can walk probably 3/4 mile the opposite direction to see the light house. The property does have bikes you can rent and the area has bike lanes to ride in. Traffic is not that heavy in the area as well- I run in the area whenever we visit. The rooms have microwaves and glasses. I believe the executive suites have mini kitchen areas. The nearest full size grocery store is about mike and half away- you would want to drive that or shuttle. There is a smaller market 1/2 mile north of the hotel as well. Pompano is a nice and relaxing location. The hotel is nice as well and their staff have always been friendly.
