Older, but very nice resort. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We travelled during August, so the resort and the area in general was quiet, which we liked. The resort is close to many restaurants and stores. We didn't really need our rental car.
We had a one bedroom oceanfront suite with amazing views and double balcony. There are reefs right off the beach and we did a lot of snorkeling and some scuba diving. The king size bed was nice and soft. The kitchen and bathroom were a little small, but appliances were new. Some fixtures in the unit were a little tired, but we were expecting this from reading other reviews and are so happy we took advantage of the last-minute availability. The staff were also super friendly and welcoming.
Close to beach. Great water pressure. The locks didn't make you feel safe. It used physical keys which look like they could be duplicated. Sheets were stained with holes. Pillows also had stains. We came here as it was the only vacancy and something is better than nothing. Alongside all the neighboring hotels and resorts, this one stands out for wrong reasons. The beach front property and view were so incredible, it earned a 2 for this review.
Superb location, beach is right next to the property. plenty of decent dining options. Older building and dated furniture but it was functional just that it was not fancy. You will need to rent a car if you would like to visit other locations.
This resort is right on the beach, which makes this resort great. The units themselves are a little outdated. The furniture is uncomfortable and old The units are very clean and all precautions are met due to COVID. The bathroom tub might be difficult for seniors with knee problems or balance issues. The kitchen is stocked but needs to have some items updated ( steak knives, carving knife). Electric outlets are a challenge, you might want to bring extension cords for charging phones, tablets, etc.. All in all, a great place, with great staff.
We barely ever notice this resort as we drive along the ocean. When we had a chance to exchange, we did. We were so pleasantly surprised by the great view of the ocean. We couldn't have hand-picked a better location on the property. They have a great hot tub and pool and a private little area of the beach with chairs and umbrellas. The unit was very small and a bit dated but with spectacular views of the ocean, it seemed insignificant. A comfortable setting with friendly guests and a well-maintained amenities.
Excellent location right on the beach. Stayed during Labor Day weekend and the weekdays following booked through AFVC. Rooms are adequate but very dated. Bed had old sqeaky box springs and the kids stayed on the pull out sofa mattress, removed from the sofa for better comfort. Kitchen was adequately furnished with dishes and utensels but had to buy coffee and filters and condiments. All indoor lights were wired with cheap extension cords. Balcony lights come on at 8pm and light up the whole living room and bedroom. We removed the bulbs after the first night so we could sleep. The pool was the best thing on the property, however, it was only open from 10am and closed at 4pm. It would've been nice to be able to drink coffee by the pool or to swim or converse with other guests in the evening while the balcony lights keep you up, but that must not be allowed. Outdoor grills were well kept and adequate but could be a bit closer. The putt-putt golf, shuffleboard, and tennis court are there and seem to be functional but nobody used them. It served its purpose at night and between beach adventures, and it was a good price from AFVC during the off-season.…
The one bedroom I had was poolside. Bldg was right on the beach, short walk to the beach, beach lounge chairs set out for guests with grass umbrellas , unit was clean, internet connect was very good and easy to connect to and was not bumped off. Furniture was a little dated, but very comfortable, even had a nice recliner for me. Great kitchen. 2 full bathrooms in one bedroom unit was great. King size bed in master. Close to Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Pompano Beach for shopping. Washing & Driers on site. No gym that I was aware of, otherwise would have given it excellent. Stayed in unit 114 I believe. Landscape was nice and maintained. I would stay again definitely or recommend to friends and family.
There aren't enough good things to stay about The Native Sun. After having our other vacation plans thwarted we were lucky enough to stay here for a week. The staff could not have been kinder and it made our stay all the more enjoyable. The beach is right on site along with a pool and everything you could need to shop for is within walking distance or a very short drive. The Native Sun is a hidden gem in south Florida and I hope to be back in the future!
We came down with our university aged daughters for reading week and booked the place, hoping it would be okay. We were familiar with the area from previous vacations at a family members condo, but we knew nothing about Native Sun and I am happy to say that they exceeded our expectations. In fact, my in-laws were staying at an expensive place closer to the main area and wished they had stayed here too. Yes - it is somewhat dated, but the unit was spotless and very comfortable, and house keeping was in twice a week with fresh linens. Kitchen was small but had everything we needed - you won’t find gourmet cooking facilities, but who needs that on vacation? The king sized bed was a bit softer than we were used to, but was comfortable. The girls slept on the queen sized pull out and were also comfortable. We had more than enough towels in the bathroom and great water pressure. We were on the 3rd floor, with ocean view and the balcony was large and had multiple seats - I had breakfast out there every morning and loved it. The beach is spectacular and not crowded, and access is a short stroll from the room. I recommend that you bring your own beach umbrella - the resort has 2 tiki style, permanent umbrellas closer to the building, but you will want to be closer to the ocean. The have a number of loungers for your use, although a couple were broken so that you could not sit up. The pool and hot tub were very good, and there are also tables with umbrellas facing the beach area - my older daughter had studying and papers to write, so she took advantage of these. The resort provides you with one beach towel per person for the week, so you may want to bring more - there are laundry facilities, but you need to provide your own detergent. There is a Publix grocery and other stores within walking distance, but we did end up driving since we were getting enough for the week. There are not many restaurants that are really close, but it is a nice area for walking (if you don’t mind driving, you have a lot of options). The staff was always very friendly and helpful, but not obtrusive. Some of the negative reviews noted a lack of activities / room service, but I think they did not read the website - the resort is exactly as advertised, a small, casual resort on the beach, Overall we loved our stay and would definitely return for another visit!…
