We've been to Cabbage Key for lunch many times over the last 40 years having rented on Captiva for a week every year and enjoyed taking our kids, then grandkids for a treat...always a fun boat ride and dining experience. Eventually it became kind of "ho hum" but we continued. A couple of weeks ago we took our son , daughter and their children for lunch, a party of 11 people...ages 10 to 80 (: Beautiful boat ride, beautiful day and great outing. Of course it was a Friday, and the place was crowded. Dock master was pleasant and helpful guiding our boats up on the "beach", (years ago your dockmaster was very unpleasant and grumpy). Anyway, regardless of how packed the place was (inside and out), all the servers, bartenders, et al were solicitous, professional and PLEASANT!!!. In particular, we'd like to praise Thomas J. and the lovely young gal he was training at our table on the porch. Serving 11 guests can be difficult given the ages in our group. But they didn't blink an eye, AND Thomas entertained us throughout much of the meal with his "sleight of hand" tricks, puzzles and humor. He really is a prize and goodness gracious, on top of that they got our orders right!!! This was a wonderful experience and we thank you. We'll definitely will be back next June.…
We arrived by boat after a seven hour trip. When we arrived we heard music and enjoyed the pool. It was super warm but that was okay. Our room was small but very well appointed and our balcony overlooked the water with views of our boat. We ate at the restaurant and it was fabulous both nights we were there. We also had lunch via boat at Cabbage Key which is the sister island. You really do step back in time. There is a marina next door so if you want to tow a boat it would be easy to do. The second night which was Sunday night we pretty much had the place to ourselves. This is our new favorite place. The staff is wonderful and very helpful.
Day trip to Cabbage Key and between the dolphins, turtles and accommodating staff, it did not disappoint. We only ate at the restaurant, did not lodge with the property, but really enjoyed our time there. Cathy was our server and she was the BEST! My only constructive comment would be that the burger bun was a bit stale but still worth the trip to meet the great folks that work there and enjoy the beauty of the island. Would definitely go back!
We stayed at the tarpon Lodge for one night as part of our western Florida trip. I'll review the hotel separately. I am referring only to the restaurant y in this review. When we checked in top the hotel, we were sort of peckish so we had something light for lunch because we were booked for dinner as well at the restaurant. We had an excellent clam chowder and some tasty bruschettas followed by a divine salted caramel cheesecake for dessert. Yummy. We went for a short nap, a drive around the island and a walk on the beach front and returned for dinner. We shared the blackened fish bites as a starter. For mains I took the bouillabaisse (delicious!!) and the lady took a caesar's salad. We shared a great chocolate mousse for dessert. All this went down with bottle of excellent Malbec wine. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the view of the palms and the sea is beautiful. Lovely Restaurant!! Great Food and Service!!…
Relaxing upscale lunch in a boater's paradise. A lovely old property nicely restored an beautifully run. Staff is on top of it! ...smart, friendly, personable, efficient. The food is fresh, fresh-prepared giving you time to sip and savor from their nice wine list. The patio looks out on Florida at it's best -- palms, sun, gulf waters. Cozy bar inside with great ambiance.
The following information was shared with Tarpon Lodge Management on 5/2/21. I included their (inadequate) response at the bottom. Our experience at Tarpon Lodge from 4/25-4/28 fell short of our expectations. Here are our comments and suggestions. Quiet Hours - Mandatory quiet hours should be established. We overheard excessive yelling and profanity in the parking lot and slammed doors inside the Island House on the night of April 27 between 10:30 and 11:00 PM. Island House Rooms - 1) Guests should be informed if their room reservation is for a non-renovated room. Our expectation was our room would be the same quality room as shown on your website. Unfortunately, our non-renovated room (#11) was grossly inferior. 2) The central air conditioning was inadequate. Our room was too warm. We tried using the portable air conditioner, but it was insanely noisy. Also, the ceiling fan did not help. 3) The bathroom needs more counter space, including the newly renovated rooms. 4) The walls between the rooms require better soundproofing. Fishing Tournaments - Guests should be informed about fishing tournaments that might overlap their stay and cause unusual activity and noise. For example, our last night at your lodge was ruined by some inconsiderate fisherfolk staying at the lodge for an upcoming tournament. Restaurant - The cushions in the dining room are stained and should be reupholstered to reflect the fine dining experience you intend for your guests. In addition, the plastic chairs in the screened-in dining room should be upgraded to wooden chairs. Breakfast Area - The breakfast area layout could use some improvement to help guests find everything they need. Smell by Cottages - The pungent odor near the cottages should be taken care of daily. General comment - More focus is needed on overnight guests who are not fisherfolk. Tarpon Lodge is a beautiful area for everyone to enjoy nature and explore the coastline's unique inlets and islands. -------------- Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to our feedback request. The staff and property did not disappoint. We were hoping for quiet and peaceful setting, and Tarpon Lodge delivered. The dinner menu was delishes and the waiteess Are was super sweet. Thank you all for making our stay special
If you are looking for a great relaxing getaway, look no further than Tarpon Lodge in Bokeelia Fl!! Billed as a sportsman inn, I would beg to differ. It is definitely a destination for foodies. Shohreh can handle all of your reservations and guide you in food and wine choices. Personal service in a relaxed atmosphere all combine to make any visit a treat!
We called Tarpon for lodging for an advisor that was coming into town and the advisor loved it! He said the accommodations were excellent from the room to the water views; he said they even accommodated his request for his healthy eating habits. We also received a phone call the day before to see if we wanted an upgrade. Good job Tarpon!
The Excellent-almost everything. We stayed in a water view room in the Island House and the room was wonderful, just like the photographs.Service was top-notch. An iron was delivered to me within minutes, the daily maid service was perfect, and everyone was very accommodating when my friend had to cancel because of illness. Even the recommendations on the website were perfect. We took a boat tour and a kayak trip with 2 of the recommended vendors and were quite pleased. Plus the grounds and the pool are just lovely. The Bad-this is an Inn with no separate party/meeting space but they booked a large, very noisy group for the weekend. The group partied almost non-stop on the grounds, in the rooms, and in the hallway. After one night with little sleep we had to move. We moved to a much quieter room-one just off the bar in the main building. It was very sad to have to move from a lovely king room with 2 balconies overlooking the water to a cramped Queen room by the bar and public restroom with no balcony and with painted shut windows overlooking the parking lot. To their credit, the lodge staff moved us as soon as we requested it. However, we should never have been placed in the situation where we had to make that request. More care should have been taken to avoid mixing a large party group with people who came to the lodge to relax. I would come back and would recommend staying here if I was assured that party groups would either not be here or would be handled much better than they were this time.…
