Motorcycle trip rider and stopped at Gandy for the night. Off the main drag in Perry. Clean, updated room, cold AC great room lighting. Staff was great, bike towels available on request and she even said we could park our bikes under the patio if the weather was bad! ( I’ve paid money to do that in other places) plenty of chain restaurants around, a few local places as well. WiFi was not the best is the only negative thing if WiFi is important to you.
All this for under $70. We would definitely stay here again.

Very pleased. After driving most of the day from Gulf Port, we were so thankful to the owner, who was so polite and accommodating. We had a very good night's sleep. It didn't smell in the room. All bedding was clean and fresh. Thank you to the owner. If we ever come that way again, we will stay there again.

Stayed at Gandy three weeks in the winter of '13-'14, and found it one of the best motels I've been in. I've driven across North America exactly 19 times, so I should know what a good motel is. The Gandy has so much for a very reasonable price--good beds, bathtub and shower, microwave, mini-fridge, a dinner table and many good TV channels, including my favorite, TCM. And of course it offers free Wifi. Plus it's a true motel: you can drive right up the unit's door, unload your things easily and hear if anyone messes with your car at night..
Good location: food stores and pharmacy in walking distance. You won't go wrong here.
P.S. If I didn't score the swimming pool, it's not because there isn't one, but, presumably because of the season, the pool was drained.

If there is someone qualified to give this review is me. I’ve stayed at this Motel for 5 years almost every weekend. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The place is very well maintained and does get better ratings in every possible way than the other named motels in the area (and this opinion is from experience). Management is friendly and will really take good care of you. Gandy Motor Lodge is the best in the area and you can’t beat the price either. Thank you guys for all these years! You have made this place feel like home.

Gandy motor lodge - 1954 - yes older but kept up - better than my mistake of staying across street at another location -- check in look across street next to subway to the right - that place
is for you if you like smelly rooms -rude hosts -overpriced - But if you want a great value
this is a older clean mom and pop location - clean and comfortable -- and many tv channels
to chose from - this place was recommended by local after bad mistake - of other place -
so far 3 stays --and very happy - windows that open - nice porch - great parking - will be a regular here --give it a try - Great Hosts !

Our first trip to the USA was in the Summer of 1981 (Yes we're seniors). The first non-chain Hotel that we stayed at was the Gandy, so we're 32 year regulars. We learned to prefer this type of accommodation, where you park you car outside and there is a shaded porch to sit under.
The Hotel sits on a large lot near to a good few other Hotels in a town that seems to have more hotel rooms than population. It was explained as we left that the area has Paper Mills (With strange odour when working during the week).
Check in we easy as we were early checking in the town seemed empty on Sunday 10th March when we checked into a non-smoking king. The room was a good size and looked as if it had been recently decorated. The carpet and curtains were in good condition, as was the bed. In all commendably clean. The Manager pointed that since we were last there the place had had a new (Metal) roof and indeed the building seemed to be in very good condition considering it's age. For although well decorated the bathroom fittings must have still been the originals The Fridge and Microwave were clean enough to have been new..
The swimming pool was closed (Too cold?), and it was a pity to note that the swimming pool slide that my wife had enjoyed all those years ago had gone.
There is no Breakfast available on site, but coffee and Asian Biscuits were available in reception.
This Hotel really needs to gat a web site that will allow direct bookings, and the WIFI router, that didn't work well during our visit, fixed .
Would we stay here again, well yes. The rates charged make this an ideal budget stop.

One of the 16+ Motel we stayed at on or Feb. road trip. Room was large with 2 queen beds. Clean and warm as the temp got down into the 30s that night. Staff was very friendly and check in and out was easy. All rooms on one level. Mgr even ask if they could make coffee for the morning. Room pricing was the lowest on the trip, but we thought it was as good as some of the $100+ night rooms. Nice Mexican place just down the street with Music. Would stay again if passing thur.

I am not really sure why this is under B & B. This is an older pull up to your room, exterior doors, motel. I do agree with the reviews of the manager/owner being very accomodating BUT.....Room did have a large king bed, but fitted sheet barely fit the mattress, and the mattresses, pillows are old as well, stained and have an odor. The room is big in size, with a frig, microwave, older style tv. NO HAIRDRYER, NO COFFEE MAKER (but i take my own anyways). With the past few reviews from Tripadvisor, decided to give this place a try, well i was only staying for one night, so didnt think it would be so bad. I woke up about 1:30 AM, and after laying in bed for about 20 minutes, rolled over on my back and found ONE BIG SPIDER, crawling on the ceiling, got chair and smooshed it. Then while laying on my side, I saw that Coachroach crawling on the night stand! SMOOSHED IT TOO!!! Also saw two more roaches on wall above couch. But when i went to get them, they darted. SO IF YOU ENJOY SPENDING YOUR NIGHTS WITH ROACHES AND SPIDERS, this is the place for you! I would recommend updating this property with clean, fresh mattresses, pillows, spring clean rooms, and get with an exterminator. If I am back in Perry again, I WILL NOT stay at this property. I can handle the property being older, but it needs to be maintained accordingly! Just not an acceptable, or enjoyable stay for me. :(

We just stayed a night here on the 7th. It was so dirty that i refused to sleep in their bed. On one of the blankets there were big blood stains, it looked like the pillow cases hadn't been washed in months, the towels in our bathroom were hung and and still damp. We were in Perry for the Iron Horse mud ranch and it was one of the few hotels that had an opening. We had another friend of mine come over and take a shower after sleeping in a tent all night . The owner then proceeded to come to our room use profanity and tell us if anyone else was seen in the room that he would call the police. Needless to say we would've rather slept in the tent with our friends. We had already paid for two nights and the owner kept us up there for an hour arguing with us before he gave us our money back for the second night. He also charged us 20 dollars for my friend taking her shower. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. You're better off paying higher prices ! TRUST ME !

Needed to stop. Place looks old, but it was economical and clean. Had a nice flat screen tv, with more channels than most top hotels. Parking lot was full, so others know it's a good stop. Not many places to stop around here, other than Perry.
