Let me start this review by saying that I have stayed at the purple parrot many times over the last 10 years. All of my previous visits have been very good but this one was not. When I made my reservation, I didn’t even do it online, I called and requested a very specific condo. I wanted the condo that was directly by the pool and the tiki bar so that at night I could sit out on the porch and listen to the band play while my son played inside. When I arrived to check in I was given the incorrect condo. I brought it to the check in lady’s attention and was told that the condo I had reserved had sold and they had stuck me in a comparable condo. The condo I was put in was 18 C. It was so far away from the band there was no way I could hear it at night, and required a bit of a walk to get to the pool. When I complained about the condo’s location I was simply told that there was nothing that they could do and they offered me a coupon for a dolphin cruise. This condo wasn’t a fraction as nice as the one I reserved but I was still charged the nicer condo price. $1,700 for a week. The bed was simply a metal frame with an uncomfortable mattress on it, (not even a blanket on the bed-see pic), there were very limited furnishings in the condo, no decorations and very sparse. There were animal feces on the stairs, hairs on the towels in the bathroom, mildew on the shower curtain and huge cockroaches that swarmed the patio at night, pbly b/c it’s located way back in the woods. So sitting on the patio was impossible in the evening. We ended up leaving 3 days early. We were supposed to stay until Saturday but came back yesterday morning, Thursday. I am very disappointed in this trip to Purple Parrot and don’t know if I will return.

We have stayed at purple parrot in the past. However, every condo has a different feel. The one we stayed at last year was absolutely amazing, well maintained, completely stocked (even with things you wouldn't think you would need). However this year we decided we wanted to be closer to the pool and right in front of a parking spot so we chose to stay at 18A. BIG MISTAKE. It's definitely older and not well maintained. The a/c was broke from the day we arrived and despite multiple complaints, it was not fixed until the day before we checked out. At one point it was up to 87 INSIDE our condo. Also our shower leaked, the water leaked all over the bathroom floor and even went through the ceiling and was a stream downstairs. The wallpaper is peeling off in the master bathroom as well. Also, the shower curtain liner was disgusting on the inside, looked like it definitely hadn't been cleaned or changed in a while. 18A condo definitely needs maintenance and some updates/improvements. Until that happens I would not recommend staying there. As far as the pool and tiki bar area; A+. We had a lot of fun there!! And great service!!

Room Tip: Rooms away from the pool are obviously quieter and less traffic.

Our stay was a wonderful experience for us. The hotel is such a gorgeous hotel! We truly love the food at the restaurant. In addition the view is amazing and everyone was nice and friendly. To be added Angela in frontdesk has a beautiful smile and was so hospitable. She is such a gem in your company!

The Purple Parrot Resort is a destination spot along the Alabama/Florida strip. When one considers the many great locations to stay when visiting the strip affectionately known as the ‘redneck riviera’, the Purple Parrot stands out as a gem among the options. Nestled at the eastern most edge of the strip before advancing into Pensecola, the Parrot reveals itself with the promise of a secluded semi-private oasis in which to lounge around a massive pool. The large water fall feature induced the feel of a tropical setting and lulls one into relaxation as the occasional breeze rustles near by palm trees. A thatched rooftop, poolside bar readily supplies adult and non-alcoholic beverages. One can even order from among a small range of quick order, tasty meals and never have to leave the pool area. The Caribbean style architecture of the cozy cottages helps to complete the look and suggest a cozy stay for families, singles, and couples alike. If an escape from the busy crowds of the more popular beach areas is what you’re looking for then go the way of the parrot, The Purple Parrot!

Stayed in Sun Kissed Cottage for the first time after staying in Sea Robin for 2 years. We were told it was renovated and "new." We had our first problem upon arrival. I don't think the unit had been cleaned - there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, the laundry had wet smelly towels, and the master bedroom bed only had a queen flat sheet on it (it is a king). It was after hours (all hours on Sunday are which seems odd but whatever). On Monday morning I went and it was remedied quickly - I took photos to show. We had a cleaning crew there within 30 minutes but still - we had to sleep in what I call an unacceptable situation. The unit is worn for being new. Floors are buckled, nail pops everywhere, the thermostat is one of the fancy Nest ones and it was beyond frustrating the way it turned off, would set itself even though we had it set to 71, the bathrooms have not been remodeled whatsoever. There is mold and mildew throughout - how hard it is to replace a shower curtain/liner? The units were showing alot of wear. We took a walk and noticed that in the back (C) units, there are old Christmas lights barely hanging from the trees/gazeboo and they don't work. There were literally 2 bulbs still shining between the 15 strands. Trash were all under the houses, doors that were barely able to close and the outside of most units needed upkeep between painting the railing, fixing screens. We used to love Purple Parrot and my kids associate vacation with this place but there are too many other choices available.
