My wife and I are from Oregon, and we stayed here for five days whilst attending the conference at the bar center. Great location. I’D say We received some of the best customer service ever from Thomas at the front desk. He went above and beyond to make our stay more comfortable. Excellent! Would recommend.

Decided to spend a day in Pensacola with the family. Room was okay. We were on the 3rd floor so it took forever to play with the water on the shower to be right. There's was not much water pressure on the toilet. Great location on downtown and good price. Breakfast was free but it was just fruits, muffins, cereals, oatmeal, pastries, and yogurt with juice and coffee.

decided to check out this location based on my son saying to "check it out". he had just moved to the area and thought it was a good central location. I have never checked out of a hotel, but I did. the desk staff was very nice but the room was rundown . . . there were bugs in the bathroom, half full wine glasses left behind a chair, stains on the comforter . . . I had gotten sucked in because of an article written by southern living magazine that is still pushed on the sole inn and suites website. it was written in 2013 . . . the past 6 years have not been good to this place.

I've been passing the Sole on visits to Pensacola over the years and always meant to check it out based on its super convenient location and good reviews on here (and despite its terrible branding - that typeface should've stayed on the early 1990s Nintendo cartridge where it belongs.) So I was happy to have the opportunity to stay there during a recent two night visit based on the attractive midweek rate, especially compared to nearby properties during the summer high season. It's evident that the management has spent some effort in upgrading the property from its beginnings as a low-end cinderblock motel, and the friendly greeting we received upon checkin was genuine and much appreciated. I only wish they'd spent as much attention to improving the guest rooms themselves as they evidently have on the lobby. Our second floor room was decently sized, but the housekeeping staff clearly needs to spend more time on details: There was dust and grime on the light switches, doors, and fixtures - along with a splattered stain on the headboard of one of the beds in our room that I'd prefer not to spend too much time pondering the origin of. There was evident water damage and mold on the framed "art" poster in the bathroom, the porcelain sink surface was scratched and unsightly, and the grout in the shower was dingy and discolored. Most disappointing of all, however, was the quality of the (inexpertly made) bed: the sheets were thin and scratchy, the comforter atop the bed was visibly stained, and - worst of all - the pillows were the kind of thin, deflated foam rubber that made a comfortable nights sleep very difficult. Admittedly we didn't spend much time in the room since we were visiting Pensacola for the beach (which is also why we didn't take advantage of the afternoon happy hour in the lobby - but why would you want to on a beautiful summer day and miss those gorgeous beach sunsets anyway?) The free "continental breakfast" wasn't much of a draw either, especially with one of Pensacola's best coffee shops (Bodacious Brew) a short walk away. So I can't speak to any of those amenities. What I can say, however, is that even generic chain hotels like La Quinta and Motel 6 have gone a long way in recent years towards recognizing that most travelers just want a clean room and a comfortable bed to come back to after a long day of work or sightseeing - and on both of those counts the Sole fell far short of expectations. (And at over $300 for a two night stay including taxes, it ended up not being much of a bargain either.) A thorough interior paint job, some basic upgrading of fixtures, better housekeeping, and (most important) a thorough revamp of guest beds would go a long way towards making the Sole the true budget "boutique-ish" experience it so evidently wants to be. (Changing that terrible typeface wouldn't hurt either.) Until then, I don't think it's a place I'll be returning to.
