This bed and breakfast is, without a doubt, an exceptional place to stay. Overlooking the Manatee river the house is an impressive and charming vestige of early 20th century building. Extremely well restored by the current owners, a couple of young and very competent Belgians, each of the 6 rooms have their own style and decorations. They are comfortable with modern bath rooms, some have a bow window overlooking the river. Breakfast is incredible, change everyday and very creative. At 5:00 pm everyday appetizers are served. You really feel at home ! If you are in the area don’t miss this place even only for an exceptional diner served only on Wednesday.

We spent two nights at the Palmetto Riverside B&B and only wished we could have changed our itinerary and stayed longer. On the particular two nights that we were there, we were the only guests, which was wonderful for us. When we arrived, we were given a tour of each room at the B&B and could choose from any of them. While all rooms were very nicely decorated and spacious, we chose the Riverview suite, which is on the first floor, looking out over the front garden and Manatee River. It was quiet and very spacious, with an ensuite bathroom and large walk-in shower, a separate sitting area from the bedroom, comfortable king size bed, and chocolates. We were offered a cocktail and appetizer each night we were there, and enjoyed the opportunity to meet the innkeepers, Mieke and Wim, who could not have been more welcoming. In addition to the lovely hospitality, the breakfasts were absolutely outstanding and included, among other things: fresh yogurt smoothies (a berry one, and a creamed latte one); a dessert - chocolate mousse, and a maple yogurt dish; Belgium waffles; and French toast {over the course of two breakfasts}. Breakfasts were filling, elegantly served, and carried us through until an early dinner. I can only imagine that dinners that are served there, are equally as gourmet and beautifully presented. The B&B is walk-able to several restaurants on the river and across the bridge. There was parking on one side of the B&B. The grounds were beautiful, and would be ideal for a wedding, which they were preparing for after we had left. It was also an easy drive to Sarasota and Tampa, as well as the Myaaka State park and Emerson Point reserve, among other hiking destinations. Many thanks to Mieke and Wim for your lovely hospitality. In addition to our overnight accommodations, my husband and I ate dinner at Palmetto Riverside Bed and Breakfast with two other guests. One of the four of us ordered the 5-course meal, while we ordered the 3-course dinner. The food was phenomenal! Fresh, exceptionally prepared, so very creative and more than enough to eat. Our two guests, who are extremely critical of good food, RAVED about their dining experience as well as the beautiful ambiance and setting of the restaurant. This is our 3rd time enjoying dinner here, and we know we will continue to visit as long as they will have us! We then stayed over in the Riverview Suite (for the second time!). Exceptional wine and hor d'oeuvres were served and we were able to sit and relax with the owners, Wim and Mieke at that time. The entire Bed and Breakfast is EXTREMELY clean, so I can tell you this room was not only spotless, but absolutely beautiful and comfortable with an unbelievable view of the water and boats. We slept like babies on the cozy bed and the entire room just automatically relaxes you. Their breakfasts for overnight guests are unparalleled as well. I don't think I've ever experienced a breakfast like theirs. The only one problem we had is that we had to eventually leave...
