The location was perfect for getting to and from the Magic Kingdom park with a 10 minute walk. The monorail is located within the hotel structure and the shuttle busses pickup just outside the hotel. Our two rooms were spacious enough and clean, with comfortable beds, a nice-sized refrigerator, safe, and big closet. As the carpet is only around the beds, you could hear other guests moving in their rooms when walking on the hard floors. The HVAC system worked well, which was important since the weather was very hot and humid. There was a dirty towel on the floor between the door connecting our two rooms that never got removed. In one room the shower/tub water was only hot one time and other times had to be used lukewarm. Apparently, this is a known issue in this area, but the water smells like sulfer so the bathroom always had an odor and you could smell the bath and sink water, and taste it everywhere water was served. The hotel vending machine charged $4.50 for a 20 oz. bottle of water and the downstairs store charged 4.69 plus tax. The most negative aspect of our visit were the employees at the front desk and valet. The check-in women was moody and disinterested, gave us incorrect information about using the Disney cellphone app, forgot to give us complimentary luggage tags and answering a question about using the magic band. Later, we stopped at the desk and were given correct information and a missing cardkey. Upon checkout, I wanted to see the bill to discuss any questionable charges before we left. I was simply told that checkout had already been done electronically and not given a printed receipt. We checked our bags with the valet while we ate before our transfer to the airport arrived. Upon retrieving our bags, the attendant watched us struggle to unload our suitcases from the cart and simply waited for a tip. All the store, restaurant, and housekeeping workers in the hotel we encountered were friendly and helpful.…
I recently stayed at Disney's Contemporary Resort Garden wing and wanted to leave a review that had information others missed. I stayed on the first floor with a patio in the garden wing, my room faced the "garden" area which consisted of shrubbery manicured grass and sidewalks leading to the pool and dock area. I have stayed in the main tower before but personally, the garden wing was better, peaceful not as noisy and not many people. I also enjoyed the outdoor access, walking outside the sliding doors for a jog every morning was great. There was a family to my left and across the hall from us with children but I never heard them between the shared walls, only in the hallway. They are currently refurbishing the garden wing but you cannot hear it at all, my room was 2 doors down from the blocked hallway being refurbished, never heard anything. I do have to say, the room was pretty standard, pictures from other guests are accurate, nothing special just an average room closely resembling Marriot or Hilton rooms but it was spacious and very clean, no chemical smells. The coffee station has a Keurig, my family stayed on the third floor they had a Keurig as well, it was an older model than mine but still a Keurig. There are several coffee pods - all Joffreys coffee, with coffee mate cream cups, sugar packets, and cups with lids. The walk from my room to the first floor of the Main tower was 3 minutes for me and roughly 5 minutes from my room in the garden wing to the monorail on the 3rd floor. Masks are currently required anywhere inside the hotel and the garden wing hallways and they are sticklers about it. If you bring your personal vehicle or a rental they do charge a parking fee PER DAY, I believe it was $25 per day to park. There are other charges for valet parking and service if you chose to utilize that service. Also, if you move to another Disney Resort from the Contemporary the bell service will transfer you luggage to that hotel for you, but ONLY suitcases nothing else. Overall, the garden wing is a great option, especially if you would rather be away from the noise of the Main tower and people and if pool and dock access is a must for you and your family.…
I normally don't do reviews but I felt like I needed to after reading some other ones. We got in later than we were supposed to because of flight delay. This is also our first time at Disneyworld. We had an amazing travel agent help us plan it all. We went to check in and the staff was so nice. We gave them our information and they said that we had a little issue with our room and it wasn't ready. They said that they had another room available if we would like it instead. I was worried because we originally had the Garden room and it looked amazing so I wanted to make sure we were getting what we paid for. They said they were upgrading us to the Incredible room. I said sure lets go with it. We were also pretty exhausted from our travel day. I am so glad we changed rooms. It was clean, had a refrigerator and they had the towels shaped like Mickey ears on the bed. The best part was the fact that we had a balcony that had a view of the park and the water. When we got there the sunset was beautiful. They were so helpful with all the questions I had about the park since we had never been before. They helped get our luggage to the room and we got all settled in. We stayed 4 days and it was so nice. Maybe I was just so excited to finally take my family to Disneyworld that some of the stuff I saw in other reviews weren't a big deal for me. I would stay here again if we ever went back. We also go to see the space X launch from the hotel the night we arrived. I also liked that we could walk from the hotel to the park. They also kept our bags at the hotel until we were done at the park our last day until we went to our hotel at Universal. The view of the fireworks from our balcony were awesome!…
I booked the Contemporary to splurge and live out a childhood dream seeing the monorail. Instead of being in the main building, I was placed in a room in the garden wing, which is completely detached from the main building (which has a separate parking area it is so far away). I did not even know this building existed. My room was literally a quarter of a mile (over 400 steps) from all of the amenities of the Contemporary. It is certainly not worth $650 a night to visit the Contemporary. I would have paid more if I had known I was in a separate building. I feel completely deceived and ruined what I thought would be a fun, memorable vacation. Disney needs to brand this building completely different to eliminate the confusion. I would either pay more or book somewhere else for a better value.…
For the amount spent on the room there is no difference than staying at a regular hotel. There is not enough seating for dinner at the resort for the number of guests they have, we could not find a table or get seating at chef mickeys, steakhouse 71 did not have any tables available for the 2 days we were there. All the food is over priced we bought 4 burgers and 4 Gatorades at the cafe and it cost $99 Canadian the burgers were dry and burnt (McDonald’s has better burgers). For a Disney resort there was 0 effort in making the rooms Disney. After being on a Disney cruise this resort was a whole different level of disappointment. Transport to the parks was reliable and the staff fantastic.
"Motel Six Experience" at a "Deluxe" Disney Motel - We stayed six nights at Disney's Contemporary Hotel - you have to fight for housekeeping (even after you call to request) and disappointing access to amenities - Sadly, overall terrible experience for a vacation our family looked forward to for months - Each day we had to call to request housekeeping even after the "Disney deluxe resort change" to 'daily' housekeeping. When spending closer to a thousand dollars per night, expect at a minimum for a bed to be made. Even after we'd call housekeeping, our room would not be cleaned. One night after calling to request our room cleaned, we returned hours later after visiting Disney Springs to our room not cleaned. The resort even then told my spouse "we had a sign on our door to not clean", which with 110% certainty we did not. After long days at Disney World at a "Deluxe" Disney resort, our family had hoped for simple vacation pleasures like a fresh towel and your bed made (again, after even having to call DAILY to request). Then there's the pool access. The Disney website says guests still have access to the Bay Lake pool while the "main" pool is under construction. When we arrived with our excited kiddo to visit the pool, our key card and mobile app access did not work. We approached the front desk and were condescendingly told we only had access to the "Bay Lake Pool" which is actually a tiny pool and definitely not ideal for young kiddos. So, the "Bay Lake Pool" is not the same as the "Bay Lake "'TOWERS'" Pool". Go figure. Throughout our experience at Disney's Contemporary Resort, a "Deluxe Disney Resort" our family honestly just kept asking "what are we paying for"? The staff are more often rude than not, you have to beg for housekeeping, and the amenities are on par with Pop Century. Next time, we will likely choose somewhere else. We could have stayed at the Orlando Ritz Carlton for less than what we paid at Disney's Contemporary for a likely much more luxurious experience - which was eye opening. …
Things are not classy, upscale and pristine as you would expect from a luxury resort.. Theives work there. My purse was tolen from Bell Services. They cannot be trusted with your stuff, so if your room is not ready upon arrival DO NOT leave your bags with Bell Services! It wont make it back to your room.
We stayed in a standard room on the 6th floor in the main building. It was recently renovated and very nice. The view of the fireworks from our balcony was excellent. The new bathrooms are huge, and very pretty. They sparkle! The beds were comfortable and the furniture was nice and new. There is a small refrigerator and the Kurig that no one ever uses. The character theme was subdued and fun, which we we all appeciated. Where this hotel was just a tiny bit less than we hoped for was in the services. The rooms are only cleaned every 4 days. We had a 4 day stay so we didn't get any cleaning. Our party was 3 adult women, so we didn't have a problem with that, but if I'm honest, it would have been magical to have someone take care of us for a change. I'm sure it's just a reflection of labor market realities. The monorail was excellent, as was the bus service. The Disney staff is the best anywhere. They keep a smile on their faces and a sense of humor no matter what kind of day they're having. Must be tough. The quick service food was a bit of a diappointment at Contemporary. We didn't want to use up our park time eating, so wanted to grab faster meals in the cafeteria area downstairs. There were only a few choices and they didn't change lunch to dinner or day to day. Meals are easily ordered up through the app and the meals they did have were pretty good though. The quick foods in the refrigerated cases were also quite limited. The only yogurt was the type with artificial sweeteners and the only milk was 1%. Happily, the food in the parks was much better. We had great meals at EPCOT and Animal Kingdom. The coffee is typical hotel coffee at Starbucks prices. There are large Starbucks in the parks and they're pretty efficient, even in the morning. The bottom line: we had a wonderful time. All four days were actually magical. We had no significant issues with anything. Disney, as always, is at the top of their game. No place on Earth is anything like Disney. This hotel and all the parks are spotlessly clean and beautiful. We have very happy memories to add to our lifetime Disney experiences. To answer the important questions - Was the Contemporary worth the extra money and would we stay again? I would say yes, but we'll also look at other hotels on the monorail and the skylifts for next time.…
My husband and I stayed at this hotel in room 4744 for six nights, next door to my sister-in-law. The three of us found this hotel to be a very convenient base from which to visit all the Disney World parks. My sister-in-law had previously stayed at this hotel and recommended it due to location. Having a monorail stop on the first floor of the hotel is a welcome benefit when you will be walking 5-7 miles every day in Disney World. You save transport time by being close to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We paid extra for rooms that looked in the direction of Magic Kingdom. Every night we had an opportunity to sit on our balconies and watch the wonderful fireworks show at Magic Kingdom (9 pm or 10 pm). We took the monorail to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We took the bus to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. The bus stop is right outside the hotel. The bus rides were not short. Our room was comfortable. We had two queen-size beds separated by a nightstand. The very long curving sofa probably could have sat 8 people. The sofa likely converted into a bed. The bathroom fixtures were up to date. There was a coffee maker, fridge, and closet. The balcony view was nice. I did not care for the Space Age futuristic decor in the bedroom. I rate the hotel room a 4. The California Grill on the top floor of the hotel is an excellent, top-notch very expensive restaurant with good service. Some tables have a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. We enjoyed our two white-tablecloth dinners there. I thought the food was better than at these sit down restaurants: the Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom, La Hacienda de San Angel in Epcot and the Brown Derby Hollywood Studios. Adjacent to the California Grill is a very narrow rooftop outdoor viewing platform from which apparently all hotel and restaurant guests can view the Magic Kingdom fireworks. It might be 50 yards long and 20 feet wide. There are bannisters so it is safe for all ages. We never tried the Contemporary’s Steakhouse. The food/beverage offerings on the first floor of the Contemporary were a disappointment. The three spots are Joffreys Coffee, Chef Mickey, and the Contempo Cafe. The morning lines at Joffreys were so long I was never able to get a latte and pastry. Chef Mickey offered a sit down meal with table service, but was relatively expensive at breakfast. Disney costumed characters occasionally walk around that restaurant. We had early appointments in the parks and did not want to risk missing our ride appointments due to a lengthy Chef Mickey breakfast. We never ate there. For all six mornings we ate at the to-go restaurant, Contempo Cafe. The menu offerings were limited. You pay for your order, get a number, go to the small pickup counter to get your food, and then go find a table. The food was okay. One advantage was the free coffee refills. The main advantage of Contempo Cafe was that it was quick. This restaurant is very family friendly. I rate the Contempo Cafe a 3 or lower. The Contemporary Resort has a tiny lobby with just a few chairs. Overall I rate the Contemporary a 5 due to location. If we visit Disney World again, I would like to stay at the Grand Floridian which appears to have more seating and common areas, more shops, and an appearance which is a little fancier and less child-oriented. Both hotels are conveniently on the monorail.…
My purse was stolen from the Contemporary Resort’s Bell Services on 1/8/23. I have been passed around to every phone number and different department in Disney with no resolution. My entire vacation was ruined. EVERYDAY I woke up thinking about who I had to call because ALL the contents of my purse were gone ...cell phone, wallet, medical insurance card, bank card, credit cards, identification ect. Name it and its gone. No one from Disney has helped me, updated or informed me of what is happening. I am sure the thief from the hotel hasn't even been arrested and sadly more people visiting Disney for a vacation will becomes victims of theft as well. Over $1,000 of stuff was charged to my various cards as my family and I enjoyed a park day while our belongings were supposed to be "securely locked up" in the bell services room since our guest room was not ready upon arrival to the resort. After returning home I am still dealing with my losses and trying to recoup all of my cards, ID's ect. I had an awful vacation thanks to the negligence of the Contemporary staff. Highly disappointed. I wanted to make a point to trust NO ONE and sadly Disney World employees!…
