Having provided a detailed negative review of the cleanliness when staying at the Floridays in August this year, (a summary of the main points are copied below), outlining the major areas that we found completely unacceptable but not all the areas where our expectations were not met, I received one of the two standard 'cut and paste' responses from the Floridays when a less than positive issue is flagged. This was the one that says the GM would like to speak with me to discuss my concerns. Being a professional in Customer Experience, I agreed to the conversation. On the call, I was assured that the Floridays management team take comments like mine seriously and follow up as necessary. The underlining comments from the Floridays was that cleanliness, customer experience and customer safety were their primary concerns. At the end of the discussion, I was asked if I would change my review and offered 3 days VIP experience at the Floridays. While it can't say that the two things were related, the inference could be made! Before changing my review on what sounded an entirely plausable discussion with the GM, I wanted to do some more research on previous reviews, roles and responsibilities of some of the careers identified on the Floridays website comments from previous employees, to ensure I provided a review that I believe is fair and honest to both the hotel and future travellers. The bottom line is that I am now sure that the standard responses from the Floridays are purely an attempt to stop worse comments and protect their bookings, with no desire or ability to change. Negative reviews just wouldn't continue to be raised if they really wanted to change! Summary of issues in original review....! One thing I absolutely expect when staying away is cleanliness. Having stayed at a fair few hotels in Europe, Egypt and Thailand, perhaps my expectations were high. But, even so, if you expect reasonable levels of cleanliness, this isn't the place for you! The Floridays may pride themselves on dealing with customer issues, there are a fair few reviews that talk about this and name front desk people as being really helpful. But great customer service on what, for many is an expensive once in a lifetime opportunity, is about preventing issues from happening in the first place. So, to the detail (Room C604, 4th to 25th August 2019). 1) When we arrived, quite a few lightbulbs weren't working in the two bathrooms. Plus, having cleaned our teeth in one of the sinks in the bathroom, we noticed that it was blocked. If the room was properly cleaned before arrival, how on earth could the cleaner not notice this - should have been an early warning sign. We reported this to reception and maintenance came and replaced some of the bulbs and unblocked the sink. However, the sink was left filthy and un-useable, taking 2 to 3 days for anyone to bother cleaning it, (the daily service is make the beds and a towel change, so I assume the cleaner saw this and just thought 'not my job'). How can room prepared for new guests be left in this condition when the Floridays have roles for Director of Housekeeping, who should be making sure this doesn't happen time and again! 2) As we stayed for 3 weeks, we were due a full service clean at the end of week 1 and week 2. Well, we didn't get a full clean and the end of week 1. I admit it took me until nearly the end of week 2 to report this - you really are constantly busy trying to make the most of your time in Orlando. I'm sure it would have been done if I had reported it sooner, but why should I need to manage their work. 3) This is where it goes from fairly poor to terrible! During week 2,the toilet in the second bedroom blocked on flushing, causing it to overflow on the floor and leave some excrement on the floor. Now, I admit that this was because one of our party used tissues rather than toilet paper, but this was only because no toilet paper had been left by the 'cleaner'. That's not the worst of it. I reported this to reception asking for the toilet to be unblocked and the floor cleaned? Again, a maintenance man came quickly and unblocked the toilet. A cleaner eventually came and 1) dry swept the living area floor simply lifting all the dirt and dust into the air, 2) used what seemed to be a dry pad to wipe over the floor (not a mop or bucket of disinfected water in sight) and I assume 3) did the same in the bathroom. The main reason I realise now that the bathroom floor was not properly cleaned / disinfected was that, when we arrived, there were 3 small black marks on the bathroom floor. These were still there until, on the last but one day of our stay, I decided to see if they would come off. You guessed it, with a tiny bit of elbow grease and one of their flannels, they lifted right off. I can't tell you how disgusting it is to think of my grandchildren using that bathroom barefoot after the supposed 'clean'. Again, this is just lazy and a real health concern with my two young grandchildren sharing the bathroom, Absolutely disgusting! 4) The final straw as far as I am concerned. The shower in the second bathroom was pretty grubby looking to start with when we arrived. By mid way through the second week, there was huge amounts of mold in the wall and floor tile grouting. When I reported this to reception, their first response was 'we'll get someone in to deal with this when you check out as it's dealt with by an outside company'! Only when I said that this was completely unacceptable, did they arrange for I assume a cleaner to come in and clean the shower. You're probably guessing the theme by now - they gave it a half assed go, but still nowhere near the level of cleanliness I would expect and I'd bet a weeks wages that not a single member of the guest services team would dream of their home shower being that repellent. 5) Other factors that just lead to an overall impression that the people operating and 'maintaining' this resort really don't care much. - Grey not White sheets - Mix of newish Bath and pool towels and those you could sandpaper wood with - The pool area looks great in photos, but here is the reality. There are potted Palm trees all around the edge of the pool. Sounds lovely, doesn't it. Except that when it rains, and it rains a lot, the pots overflow and dump dirt, leaves etc. into the pool. Plus, for some reason, there is a strip of sand at the top end of the patio area and sand just gets 'walked' into the pool. Even my 12 year old grandson noticed and said the bottom of the pool was disgusting. - On one day in the third week while we were trying to get a respite from all the activities, we watched one of the 'management' team I assume, giving instructions to a maintenance man to what appeared to be clean the tile gaps to remove moss between some of the tiles around the pool and jacuzzi patio. I know now that the resort does possess a bucket and mop! However, it was the dirtiest mop I have ever seen and, while cleaning up his mess never changed the water once. It was absolutely filthy. At one point, he mopped under the back of our sunbeds and the smell of stagnant water was so bad that we had to move. - Final point. On one of our last days, my wife and I grabbed a Pizza from the hotel café - think greasy spoon. While we were eating our lunch, a random woman walked up and asked us if we were enjoying the Pizza. We said that it was okay and she then asked if we were enjoying our stay, at which point I realised that she must be part of the management team. I responded that it was 'best not to ask' at which point, she took me at my word and walked off to chat to other guests. Whoever you were, a couple of tips on your customer facing skills, which leave a lot to be desired. First, introduce yourself. I might have responded differently if I had realised who you were. Secondly, when a customer says 'best not to ask', that means 'not good'. So don't just take the opportunity to walk (run) away. Stick around, say I'm sorry to hear that and listen to the customers feedback. So, there it is. Apologies for the long review - believe me, I could have gone on to talk about the quality of the beds, how rudely I was spoken to by the cleaner at the pool toilets (brown, ringleted hair, mid 50's) etc. In summary, if you are happy for a Butlins like experience, but less clean, then enjoy. However, if you are even a bit fastidious about cleanliness - and I'm not talking OCD levels - steer we'll clear!

Loved my first visit here so I chose this place again while being on a business trip. Staff are very friendly as it was before. I’ve met the sweetest receptionist again, EJ who accomodated my request to be near the main lobby. I also met Antonio her manager who is a great guy. There’s just one thing that I noticed that I didn’t like which is the bathroom is clogged but they fixed it right away after informing them.
