We stayed in a DVC one bedroom club level room on our most recent trip. We were lucky to get a savanna view room and depending on the time of day, we saw giraffes, cattle and some ostriches, who would lay eggs just outside the room. The club level staff went out of their way to make out stay enjoyable and memorable. Glenn the club level manager in particular helped to smooth out some check-in related issues. The entire four days of our stay, we received excellent service by all the club level staff. Huge shout out to Francisco who made sure I had a specialty cocktail each evening. Francisco was extremely kind and helped make our anniversary super memorable by surprising us with giant pina coloda for two, an anniversary table sign and showing me how to use the nespresso machine to make my morning latte. Highly recommend the club level if you are celebrating a special occasion and want to feel pampered.

Hotel's Favorite
This was our families first visit to Disney together. My wife and I, plus our 13 year old daughter. This resort was amazing and huge. We got a savannah view room and it did not disappoint. We saw tons of animals from our balcony everyday, including zebras, giraffes, and ostriches amongst others. The housekeeping staff went above and beyond when refreshing the room, even taking the time to arrange my daughters stuffed animals on the bed in a cute manner. We did not have a microwave in the room, so I requested one and it was at my door 5 minutes later. The bell services staff were very helpful with our luggage and made it so much easier on us. The pool, hot tub, arcade, and Simba’s Clubhouse on site give you many options for things to do at the resort, especially with Tropical Storm Nicole coming through right in the middle of our stay. They have activities for the little ones as well. The front desk staff were very helpful with any questions we had. The lobby and the resort itself were beautiful. Walking the grounds at night was so relaxing and fun. Disney really spares no expense. Bus service to the parks was very reliable and we never waited more than 5-10 minutes for a bus. They have a screen of the bus schedule right where they pick you up. The gift shop was very nice, had a good selection of souvenirs, and had lots of essentials as well, such as medicine, food and drinks. My daughters came down sick with bad chest congestion during our stay and I was able to go down and pickup some Mucinex and Vicks to make her more comfortable. You will pay a premium for everything there, but it’s to be expected at Disney. Only a few minor cons: The front desk staff near to be more attentive at answering the phones. It was a very long walk from the lobby to our hotel room. When I got to the lobby, there were 5-6 people standing around at the front desk that weren’t busy. I could understand if they were super busy, but having to walk all the way to the lobby when they could’ve just picked up the phone was pretty annoying. The drink vending machine that was closest to our room was broken. I made someone aware of it on the first day, but it was broken the whole stay. There are some decent food choices but they are insanely expensive for what you get. The Boma buffet is not worth the almost $200 it cost for dinner. The selection is very limited and 80% of the food was not what you would consider normal American buffet fare. I understand that this is resort is going with an African theme, but 95% of your visitors are normal Americans who want normal buffet food, or at least way more options. We didn’t even bother with breakfast, as that would have been over $100, which is just nuts. The Mara did have cheaper food options, but the menu again is very limited. Be forewarned. If you door dash onto the property, they do not let them past the lobby. You have to meet them in the lobby or out front. I did not know this and was not made aware by the driver, so I missed a delivery. The driver said he left it but none of the staff could find it and I had to get door dash to credit the order and reorder. It was never found. There is a McDonalds right down the road and many other options for door dash as well. I suggest bringing snacks and pre made meals. The pool was much colder than we expected. Yes, it was November, but it was still in the mid 80’s and humid. They need to turn the heat up a few degrees. Other than the few minor cons, it was great. If you plan to splurge on a Disney trip, stay here and get a savannah view room. You won’t regret it.

We had stayed here years ago but this was our first trip with a younger child. We all loved the resort, even with the lowest room level, we still had great views of animals. The food on site is wonderful. The pool's water slide was one of the best rides during our stay in our kid's mind. We loved sitting in the rocking chairs as a break as well. The animal viewing makes the visit in the morning and night.

You don’t need a savannah view - we had a room at the end of the building, and we had a fantastic views of giraffe, zebra, cattle, birds, etc every day. I would definitely not buy extra for the savannah view. We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times now and I felt that the standard has dropped a little. Customer service whilst readily available, seems hard work at times one day we did not get any housekeeping and another we had to ask for top ups to our shower gel, because it had not been replaced Small things, but when you add them up together over the course of a stay, this is not the Animal Kingdom Lodge of 2018. Even our child’s toys were left strewn on the chair which would never have happened before, housekeeping always used to make an effort with this sort of thing. We also had a fire alarm go off at 1 am one night, we were left on the pavement outside in the car park for two hours before we were allowed back into the hotel, and whilst one staff member made all attempts to get some drinks out to people, there was no advice on what was happening. From the smell in the corridor when we evacuated, it was obvious that something had happened, but the hotel later would not comment when I complained, I did, however receive some compensation so I was happy that our inconvenience was recognised Regarding restaurants, the Mara and jiko were both fantastic and we would use again.

This resort will not disappoint, it is, simply beautiful. Our family stayed in a Savanna view room this year- last year was a pool view. Either way, I promise it is gorgeous. This resort also is good at making us feel at ease- hard to believe you are just a few miles (a nice bus ride) away from the busy and frenetic theme parks. If you stay I suggest taking at least one day to stay and take in this resort. Rest, relax, watch the animals, enjoy the pool and just “be” for that us what I feel this hotel calls for, if you have the time. Bus service to all of Disney us great and reliable- don’t need a car. Also their signature restaurant Boma is not to be missed. While it’s buffet style and rather pricey- the food is worth it. Our family has meat eaters (loved ribs and chicken), to the vegetarians who couldn’t get enough of the butternut squash soup, salads with lentils and couscous. The dessert zebra domes and special brownies are nit to be missed! Go- enjoy!!

We stayed here for 2 nights club level The room was average, shower a bit broken but the view of the animals was amazing. The club level food and staff were excellent really good. The only issue with club is that you might not be on the same floor as it. We were on 4th floor and club is on 6th so a bit of a walk and lifts to club. 2/3 nights is enough at the resort I think it’s very close to Animal kingdom park 1 mile and has great restaurants in the hotel . I thought club was on par with wilderness lodge but have stopped selling African beer which was disappointing. All in all a good time had there but we have done this hotel now and wouldn’t return unlike other Disney resorts where we would stay several times . Club staff are excellent here just wanted to say that again

The Good:rooms are nice, Mara and Boma are good, nice looking lobby. The Bad: Overpriced club level rooms, (like all of the resorts), Food is not what it once was. Not overly friendly club attendants. It's just different from previous visits. I tried some room temp soup, and a couple of other tiny things, I was unimpressed. They have really cut back the food offerings since December. The difference is extreme from just seven months ago. Also, the gift shop only offered to sell me a bag for my overpriced purchases like they charge an additional fee to buy a bag. I went to other resort gift shops and this was not the case at other resorts. Buses were not on time and crowded .(like most resorts) The Animal Kingdom Lodge was previously my favorite resort, not so much now. I think if they'd ever bring back the dining plan, this would help the club level to be less overwhelmed at all the locations. It's a lot of money for veggies/dips pb&j etc. You also have to be aggressive to actually get your food as other guests are trying to get their money's worth as well. The OK: Housekeeping were the only friendly people I encountered here on this trip. the views are ok but there appears to be less animals than there was in the past.

Thus was our first stay at AKL in many years. We had stayed probably ten times in the past. Awesome to drive up and see “home”. Staff very friendly and smiling. We requested a specific room and received it upon arrival!! Rooms have been nicely updated since last time. Thus hotel is our favorite and we’ll be back soon.
