Finally stayed at the Grand Floridian, what took me so long? Love it, not stuffy as we sort of expected. Staff pleasant, we stayed in a newly decorated room over looking pool, everything still smelled new, view was great which included great viewing of the nightly fireworks! Restaurants on site were very good, the cafe has breakfast until 2 PM, which for me males a big difference as I DO NOT like to get up early. Cafe food was very good, prices not scary at all and for the DVC owners, they accept it for the discount. Not sure if my wife will want to stay anywhere else now! lol
Restoration to grandeur continues. We stayed for 3 night in the “Boca Chica” outer building, with a lagoon view. The building was JUST completely updated. The renovated rooms are gorgeous. The hotel is spotless and a timeless classic and the renovations continue. The lobby during the Christmas season is spectacular. The walk to the quick service food location? Gasparillo, can be a bit far. I wish there was another location more central to all of the outer buildings. The service was spectacular. Elise from Citricos went above and beyond. She was amazing. Citricos has been renovated as well. I loved it. The cozy chairs, the wide and spacious marble tables. Superb.
As a native Floridian I’m no stranger to Disney. My family has been coming for decades. We’ve never had the pleasure of staying here but got an opportunity with out of town family visiting. The grounds and rooms are gorgeous. We are currently staying in the Boca Chica building. There’s construction going on so that inhibits some views and is noisy during the day. The one negative has been how thin the walls are! We got minimal sleep with a crying baby next door and then the foot traffic starting early in the hallways. You can hear every word your neighbors are saying. If you’re looking for peaceful this may not be it. Knowing this is family oriented it is what it is but when you’re paying $350 and up for a room you’d think they’d insulate some walls. Hoping for a better sleep tonight but doubt it. …
This resort is beautiful even when undergoing Reno repairs on the other buildings and restaurants. The renovated studios are gorgeous. The pool is a bit small imo . But I noticed that the main pool at Polynesian resort felt smaller too . BBB hair salon upstairs is still closed since Covid began pretty much . The gift shops are good, plenty of them . The grand Cafe is a nice place to have a simple meal . Altogether a great holiday .
No hot water at the sinks inside the rooms, and hot water is regulated inside showers to prevent scalding, so hope you enjoy Luke warm showers. No ice cream parlor, really blew my mind, I mean I’m on vacation and I can’t get some hand dipped ice cream the restaurant didn’t even have it on the dessert menu. Everything has been streamlined to make it easy for Disney, so they can just have pre packaged meals and items vs really catering to the guests, wants and pleasures. Guess that’s to be expected in today’s money hungry greedy corporate world, but i won’t nor would I stay at a Disney property for these simple reasons. Guess I just expected first class and I can’t even get hot water for 1700.00 dollars a night. Ridiculous beyond the imagination of Walt.
Have stayed at the Grand for many years since it was built. Sometimes twice a year. Just stayed there for a week starting February 28. We were in Boca Chica building. The newly renovated building and rooms are spectacular ! The Grand is back to its Grandeur ! Our entire stay with 2 rooms, 4 Adults and a 5 and 1 year old was the best ever. Housekeeping and all staff we ran into were very pleasant and helpful. All facilities including the pools and Parks were perfect. In the last 35 years this was one of the most memorable. A definite 5 Star. Dinners at Citric, California Grill and Chef Mickey were perfect..
We stayed for one night before our cruise. The room was bright and airy. Everything was clean. Bed was comfortable. Close to Disney Springs and parks. Since it was not a long stay we did not bother to get a room with a view but our view of the pool area was still lovely.
We spent eight nights at the Grand Floridian January 2023 to say goodbye to Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom. We enjoyed a newly remodeled room in the Boca Chica building. We had a wonderful view of the Magic Kingdom from our lagoon facing accommodations. The refreshed room was very tastefully done and the beds were extremely comfortable. There was a lot of construction work going on, and two of the other buildings were closed for renovations. These renovations were being completed on both the inside and outside of the buildings. If you don't like the noise of construction machinery from 8am-5pm I'd check to make sure it's been completed before staying here. One of our favorite dinning spots at the resort Narcoossee's was also closed for renovations. Standard parking is now included in the price of your stay, however, finding a spot isn't always that easy, and you may have to park at one of two annex lots which is a pain and long walk. You can of course pay $33 for valet parking and that lot was only about a quarter full. All in all I love the Grand Floridian. I'm sure the parking issues will get figured out and the construction will be completed. To me this is the crown jewel of Disney Resorts. The cast members are wonderful here and bend over backwards to accommodate your needs. We'll be back!…
This was not our first visit to Disney but it was our first time in the Grand Floridian hotel. I confess I had some reservations due to the tragedy occurred a couple of years ago with a 2 years old little boy, especially because we were staying with our own 2 yrs old grandson, but my fears were put at ease. I was very observant and found no signs of negligence or bad management, on the contrary, a very attentive staff and a well functioning place. It’s so close to Magic Kingdom that it only requieres a short monorail or boat ride to get there (probably 5 mins). Our room had a view of the lake, so getting on the balcony allowed us to enjoy every days fireworks show and a light presentation at the lake. The beds are comfortable and the rooms clean and well equipped. My only suggestion is to provide a couple of water bottles since it’s a bit far to go get one. In all, it’s an amazing place to stay when going to Disney. We would probably come back again and definitely recommend it.…
Fabulous location. Lovely Christmas holiday with the family. We stayed the week leading up to Christmas, Christmas Day and then checked out on Boxing Day. The only thing I expected was a little more going on in the hotel over Christmas and maybe making it a little extra special for the children eg little Christmas chocolates in the rooms or cookies on Christmas Eve. Food was very basic in the grand Floridian cafe and with only a choice of a couple of restaurants we ate out or ordered I. Most of the time. A beautiful hotel and the fact you could walk to the magic kingdom was brilliant!
