Our family stayed at the Disney's Grand Floridian in the Big Pine Key building on December 2020. While the Main Building is beautiful, the Big Pine Key building was just average. The lobby with its ceramic tile floor and furnishing gave me a feeling that I was in a Timeshare. The elevators had loose foot panels, worn out handrails, not what I expected to see at the Grand Floridian. I've stayed at the Disney's Contemporary Resort and the Disney's Wilderness Lodge and both had far more luxuries, amenities, nicer rooms and better maintained. Parking was a pain! Half of the front lot was reserved for the valet but there was no Valet parking available thus the reserved valet spaces was empty. The other half of the front lot was self-parking. This get's full about 7-8 PM and it's then blocked off. Even though cars leave and spaces are clearly visible, no entry is allowed. We had to park at Villas lot which is as far as you can walk without leaving the grounds. This is during COVID reduced capacity, I can't imagine how parking would be like at full capacity. The mobile check-in app did not work. The mobile app for ordering food worked sporadicly. During my stay, I kept saying, I can't believe how great the Grand Floridian looks from afar, and up close it's just average.…
It was wonderful. The staff was great. We order in for dinner. The staff sent up balloons and a cupcake for my 6 year old granddaughters birthday. The bell hop who took our luggage out, his name gave awesome information on history of the first hotels there and the opening of Epcot. His name was Witt. Our views were of the castle and space mountain.
Had a great dinner at The Grand Floridian. Getting on monorail a Very aggressive, old woman monitor, was yelling at people in front of us. I emptied my pocket book after hearing her demands of them. She said i put too much out into bin.She was definitely on a power trip. 7/27/20 at 7:30 pm!!!! Not the typical polite Disney employee.
While visiting the property, I encountered Leah and suspect she is part of the front desk team. This cast member represents everything Disney is striving for. She was personable, approachable, knowledgeable, polite, well spoken and well groomed. We had a lovely conversation ranging through many Disney topics. I believe she is new to this location and has spent quite a bit of time at Hollywood Studios over the years. Keep up the good work Leah!
My family and I are fortunate to be able to stay here. We always stay in the Grand Suite. Its just absolutely beautiful with perfect views of Cinderellas Castle. The Royal Palm Club Lounge is exquisite. Unfortunately, we were unable to go this year but we are looking forward to going again hopefully next year, of course staying in my favourite suite.
