It is bad when a $100 a night hotel advertises a full size bed as a queen, but when you have paid thousands for a time share membership and this happens it is inexcusable. They also charge the same number of points for a two bedroom lock off verses a two bedroom non lock off. The difference? There is only one bed in the second bedroom. They put a sleeper sofa next to the bed and and called it a day. You can literally feel the metal in the sleeper sofa and sleeper chair. When pointed out that this was deceptive, they just said well we hope everyone is able to get a good nights sleep.
Staying onsite is such a convenient, wonderful upgrade to a Disney trip. We would highly recommend doing so if money is no object. For the price, though, you are truly paying for convenience over anything else. We found the rooms to be dark and a bit beat up in the Kidani 2 bedroom villa that cost around $1500 per night, with quality and comfort was equivalent to a 3 star hotel. We appreciated the easy-to-access buses and delicious restaurants onsite, but everything else was underwhelming. Jambo House has a more spectacular foyer than Kidani Village and is more bustling in general, but the actual aesthetic of the whole exterior of the resort is stunning. Animals abound and lovely landscaping. Overall, I don’t feel the price matched the quality during our stay.
We stayed for the first time at Kidani Village and was magical. We saw the African animals fro the time we arrived to the time we left. The animals are beautiful and loved watching them play. We had a Two bedroom suite that was beautiful and the beds are the best in all the resorts. Food at all the dining areas are great and staff the best. Only draw back is the long walks from your room to the lobby. We will be back for sure.
The room was amazing. Great for a family of 5. Savannah view was great. Saw animals at all times of the day. Amazing experience. Food was fantastic. Always something to do at the resorts. Would love to return.
Second time we’ve stayed here. Room didn’t look any different than the first time 13 years ago. Some of the fixtures in the bathroom are a little dated and worn out, these would be the only thing I might change. Beds were comfortable, and you can’t beat the view of all the animals around the place.
This is not a luxury hotel! This hotel used to be amazing but the suites are showing their age with chipped paint, holes in the walls and room cleaning is once every 3 days. Service is not existent by the pool, you have to go the little tent Maja where the servers are miserably bad. They gladly spend 15 minutes chatting up customers rather than taking orders, food items are pre made and not comparable to nearby properties owned by Hilton, Waldorf , 4 seasons, Marriot etc. the offerings are more like a travel lodge or holiday inn. The sit dow. Restaurants offer very good food, but outside of this I would never stay here again. The prices Disney charges for these hotels between 700-1000 a night for 1 bedroom suites or more during peak seasons, and what they deliver in return is laughable for anyone who has ever traveled to a true 5 star resort anywhere else in the world. Do yourself a favor, book a room at the Waldorf or Jw Marriot, you will enjoy better service, more hospitality, nicer rooms, all for typically less money and you can simply Uber it take their own shuttle to the parks when you are out here with the kids.…
3 stars if you can ignore the not so great. Not so great... We stayed for 3 weeks in a deluxe studio. The studio has 1 queen size bed and a sofa bed. It is advertised for 4 adults but really only suitable for 2. The sofa bed is just horrible, painful to sleep on. The mattress is not thick enough so you can feel the metal bars underneath. So I ended up putting the sofa bed back to it's sofa position and slept on a sofa for 3 weeks. My back is now paying for it and I've been home 2 weeks now. I did complain twice at reception. They gave me a mattress topper which was hopeless and then a air bed but that went down in the night and often found myself about to face plant the floor so I gave up and slept on the sofa. The room was lovely and clean to start but I went and bought my own cleaning products to keep the room clean as housekeeping only cleaned every 8 days. Which was a bed change and wipe around the bathroom and kitchen area. The only time the room was vacuumed was when I went and asked at reception for a vacuum and did it myself. Other than that I bought a small brush and pan and brushed up the bits on the carpet. Housekeeping did come everyday and removed the trash but unfortunately they knocked between 830 and 9am every morning. So this became my alarm clock. No chance of a lie in if you have been in the parks late at night. Also learn what time housekeeping are coming to avoid taking a shower as they will be in the room with you before you know it. Restaurant, food was ok but very salty. I tried the nan breads that everyone raves about but mine were burnt and the dips that come with it too salty. Only option for vegetation is a vegetable curry (not much taste and salty) and a kids cheese pizza which was ok. I would recommend to eat before you get back to the hotel or go to Walmart for microwave meals. What was great... Savannah view, waking up ever morning and shouting giraffe was a treat. The balcony view was fantastic. The hotel was clean and the atmosphere around the place is brilliant..all staff were friendly. Shop was well stocked and I would recommend to buy a mug from the shop so you can get unlimited drinks for your stay. Buses to the parks were fantastic there was about 2 every hour for each park. Disability access is really good on the buses. They have 2 spaces for scooters and the bus drivers help the scooters on and off the buses. They were great. Laundry room is free to use you just need to take your detergent. You can buy some powder detergent from a vending machine in the laundry room for $1 which was really great and handy to have. In all I did enjoy staying at the hotel but wouldn't go back to a studio as the sofa bed ruined my stay…
What a fabulous experience. We could not have loved it more. We stayed in club level and it made our trip even more special. We were only there for 3 nights, wish we stayed longer. Looking out if window to see animals was a dream. There was 2 adults and 2 teenagers (16&14) we all loved it!!
Everyone has covered the fact that indeed, this hotel is off the beaten path and yes, because it's so big the odds of having a 3 to 5 minute walk to your room are pretty high. We were wayyy down the hallway on the 4th floor in room 7866 and if you don't have anyone in your party with mobility issues the walk is really a non-issue. The rooms are so well themed and the Savannah view is so worth the extra money that staying here really is a must do for any Disney fan. Being pool side feels like you're in an exotic locale, surrounded by palm trees and gardens and the stress from a long day at the parks literally oozes out of you. Having spent half our stay at Bay Lake Towers on this trip I can sincerely say the Kidani Village pool is a) better than the Jambo pool (my children tried both and agreed) and b) miles ahead of the Bay Lake pool. We've stayed previously at Beach Club, Boardwalk and Wilderness Lodge, and I would rank the Kidani pool as being our second favorite (because no one can touch Beach Club on that front). The staff here were exceptional, especially Mary at the front desk who provided us with so much Disney magic. The buses were convenient and we almost always had a seat. Walking in the lobby after a long day made me smile every single time. This really is like coming home for us and I would recommend this property to anyone who isn't deterred by the potential walk. …
We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani for the first time in November 2022. We have stayed at Jambo before (last year). We booked a DVC studio villa, savanna view. Last year we also had a savanna view at Jambo and we heard the savanna is better at Kidani so we were very excited. Our jambo experience was better from a balcony perspective. We had tons of giraffes, zebra's and antelopes last year. This year we had one zebra and two antelopes. It was still good but after my experience last year, I guess I was hoping for the same but I know you can't control the animal's! Our room was comfortable. The bathroom had a separate toilet area from the bathtub and sink but the area with the toilet was dark and had zero decor, not a big deal but I was a little surprised, was like the bathroom area was overlooked. We were room 7977 which was faaaaaar. I read previous reviews about long hallways and we're a young able bodied family, no strollers, wheelchairs or anything so didn't pay much attention to that... but wow people weren't kidding. The walk to refill our cups was sometimes not worth it lol. Food - I do wish there was a quick serve at Kidani, it's a pain to go to Jambo. We did take advantage of the breakfast grab and go at Sanaa thou and had dinner at the Pool bar. The store is small but has what you need. Any further shopping opportunities you'd have to go to Jambo. We walked over frequently, not sure how often the shuttle comes. Transportation is only buses so make sure before you choose to stay here that that's OK. We don't mind the buses so it wasn't an issue for us. Pool is amazing. Splash pad is also amazing. Very entertaining cast members running the games. The slide is tons of fun. We prefer this pool to Jambo's (atmosphere, slide as well as the pool itself)…
