Captiva is a very laid back island, but you'll be in an area where most everyone would want to be. Walk down the dirt road to the famous "Mucky Duck" restaurant on the beach or walk to the "Bubble Room". Included with our stay was...More
When you visit artsy Deco beach towns like the Florida Keys, Bahamas, and Central America they are all very similar. What separates this place from the pack is the VIBE. You immediately feel you are not in some posh concrete regimented resort you are in...More

Dear Don L,
Yes, it is all about the VIBE. We love when our guests let the busy business world slip away. And, we are happy YOU enjoyed it.
Come back and spend some more time with us. There is so much to see and...More
Lovely, wonderful staff, very uncomfortable accommodations. This quaint old 'historic' inn is not for everyone. Please review before staying here. Jasmine cottage was not cleaned well, bathroom is extremely small, with shower stall elevated in another 'room'. Sofa bed was horrificly uncomfortable, and separate sleeping...More
I hate to leave a negative review, but feel others have a right to know before spending the money this place demands. This place needs some major renovation and updating. We stayed in the Lantana and the smell of mold made me sick the entire...More
The Love Shack is adorable. It is the smallest of the cottages and tucked in the back by a quiet little patio. We chose it for that reason. Periwinkle blue walls, white accents and lots of windows make it a bright and happy place. It...More

I only saw Bird of Paradise where we stayed, but if you have a dog I might suggest staying in there or another detached cottage for the privacy. Also, Bird of Paradise was quite large for two people - a dog could stay in there just fine. Comparable to a large hotel room with an extra pullout couch and bathroom.

We wanted to get back with you regarding Children staying at the Inn. We love children. The cottages work the best for children as you have your own space. If you rent the entire second floor of the Celebration House or the entire third floor, or the entire five bedroom house, then children are allowed. If you only rent a room we have had complaints from other guests. I hope this answers your question. The Orchid Cottage is very family friendly and really close to the pool.
