I have stayed here several times both prior to Covid as well as in 2020. We have always found the "rooms" quaint and as advertised. In 2020 they were taking necessary "precautions" as directed by the CDC, etc.... Which resulted in "contactless check in/out", etc. This weekend we stayed in room 21 and were both impressed and disappointed at the same time. First, it is apparent the owners have spent time upgrading the premises and the room we stayed in. On the outside there are new pavers, lights paint, plants, etc. Everything on the grounds and inside the room was very clean. The room was much smaller than I expected however, I realize this is an "old Florida" mom & pop hotel. Things are a little different and you have to embrace it. The bathroom was remodeled and lovely. Hot water was consistent and there are no complaints. The king size bed was adequate mostly due to the wonderful pillows. There is not head board so the pillow fall between the bed and wall. Since there is no one on the premises, I did not call for extra pillows. The television is very large and at the foot of the bed which I really enjoyed. Now my complaints. I will start with my b/f is disabled from a stroke several years ago. We like this place because there are almost no stairs and in the past there were lounge chairs on the beach. This meant we could walk to the beach drag it to where we wanted to be and he could sit and relax. Now there are no lounge chairs which meant we had to go buy them and carry them down. This is a huge deal for him (us). They do have beach chairs for the guests but they are $15 a day and you have to drag them across the street and down the beach. (The chairs are wood and heavy) This was not conveyed to us prior to arriving. Next, my bf is 6'7" tall. Every other room we have had, had larger apartment style refrigerators in them. The fridge in this room was smaller and the door opened the opposite direction (see pictures) It was almost impossible for him to bend down and get things out of the fridge. Coupled with the freezer being too small to hold a bag of ice and no ice maker on site, it made it basically impossible to use the fridge. (You can see the top of the fridge is below the counter top.) We will have no problem staying here again, however we will choose a different room and confirm the in-room pictures actually match where we are staying.

This was our first time staying here, and it was delightful. Our Bayside One Bedroom unit was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the screened porch looking at the inlet, watching the boats go by. Steps away was the Gulf, with the great tiki hut sitting area on their property. The beach was wonderful to walk for miles, and enjoy the sunsets. We are not resort type people, there is some chipped paint and it is an older place. But the staff were friendly, accommodating, and our unit was clean. This place fit our style very well for exploring the beautiful Venice area.

We’ve stayed here at least four different times over as many years. The location is fabulous, close to restaurants and shopping, easy to get to Sarasota, Tamp and Venice. The grounds are nicely landscaped and attractive, with a high sea grape hedge to provide privacy. The tiki hut overlooking the ocean is fabulous - love to sit there overlooking the beach and the ocean for fabulous sunsets, stargazing and a relief from glaring sun. The cottages convey a fun funky old Florida vibe, many with pecky cypress ceilings and white stucco walls. They are roomy and have a variety of layouts and views. The bayside cottages look directly over the bay and have a nice screened in lanai. Even the studio behind the office is smartly laid out with a small kitchenette area. Unfortunately, maintenance and cleaning have slipped over the years. We stayed in a bayside unit with a great view, but the blinds were broken, stucco was peeling off in the bathroom, the coffee pot was put away dirty. The only place to store clothing, a small dresser in the bedroom was falling completely apart and was unusable. Everything just seemed worn. I love this place and plan to return. But I do hope that the owner will refresh the units and return them to the fun cottages they were shortly after he rehabbed the place.

Arrived to our first room, which was not an inlet view as promised. There were red and brown stains on the sheets and all over the disgusting mattress. There was also dirt in the sheets. There were water stains down the wall from the ac unit. The tile in the shower was not “marble” as described by owner, but instead, blue hexagon. The railing to the filet station was broken and unsafe. No water at the filet station or at the units to rinse off. Told the owner and sent pictures of the first unit. He offered us a second unit. Again, not inlet view. A side view of the other units. The curtain on the door had a huge stain as soon as you opened the door. The sheets were dirty again. Also- there are signs saying that they do not provide house keeping during covid, but feel free to change your own sheets. We sent a message to the owner with pictures to show him it wasn’t clean and he responded back by saying he could not accommodate us and to please leave. Leaving us stranded. I have posted pictures of the units and the screen shots of our texts on google maps.

Tiki bar has a happy hour but watch your bills because they don’t charge you the happy hour prices if you don’t check your bill. Also we all had cheeseburgers there an they were horrible, no taste at all! Won’t be going back there!

I am the author of the first review on the left ("Even if you don't know it you should avoid it"). I can confirm everything I wrote even now 2 month after the misadventure. I just want to emphasize the absolute lack of anybody one can deal with: just texting or e-mail to somedody who didn't have answers for anything. Nothing was even faintly like the pictures and the triumphalistic descriptions in the advertisements on the different sites: instead old decaying structures and things badly taken in care of and not even clean. We have just been cheated: if instead of tourists we were US Citizens we certaily would have applied to the appropriate departement in order to protect other unfortunate customers.

We made a reservation with this place after reviewing presentation by Trip advisor and other agencies in addition to the site of this so called resort. As a matter of fact more than a reservation was a prepaid staying : 585 $ for 2 nights. When we arrived in the early afternoon of week day, as anticipated by mail, nobody was there: all instructions were left on paper in the room. Needles to say nothing was as on pictures: just an old, narrow and decaying hut not even very clean. ( Not a surprise since they do not service the rooms because of COVID: all the blame on it). Not a private beach: may be a public beach somewhere but we did’t dare look for it. A wardrobe cluttered with air conditioning equipments. No possibility to comunicate except by texting. In the end we didn’t have any other choice but to leave. Later we complained, strictly by mail, asking for a refund: all we could obtain was a voucher for a new stay: can you imagine? Last pearl: there are in the very same area two places with the very same name the only difference being the one is “Resorts” and our is just “Resort”.

This place was discusting and use false advertisement of clean rooms to gain customers. The sheets weren't changed or clean. there was a dirty Aircon unit next to one of our pillows and a dirty vent next to the other. There was zero staff on site to help us and we tried calling and texting with no response. I have had nose and throat surgery and breathing difficulties so we just couldn't stay, for fear of my health. On top of this the cooker hob was broken, all furniture was old and chipped all ledges were dirty and the toilet would not flush. Absolutely disgusting. unfortunately Facebook won't allow me to add pictures but I will leave them on any review platform I can. needless to say the resort have refused us a refund. ended up paying $1900 for a new, clean, hotel. we enjoyed our Florida holiday but steer well clear of this discusting place!! Don't make the same mistake we did.

After making reservations in May for an August trip, we were disheartened to drive twelve hours only to be met with Red Tide. We knew nothing about this water borne bacteria. Casey Key took away one night and allowed us to reschedule. We were annoyed that the manager failed to warn us about this unhealthy environment. We received an email about Covid protocol, but no mention of the unhealthy beach/water conditions. We begrudgingly rescheduled for October 15-17. Yesterday, our friends in Nokomis informed us the Red Tide is back. Casey Key refuses to do the honorable thing and refund our remaining balance. No, they are not responsible for water/weather conditions but to keep our money because of contaminated water is dishonest. We have been repeat clients for the past five years. I understand about cancellation policies, but when does the human component of common decency come into play? The phrase, " Just because you have the right to do something , doesn't make it the right thing to do" is applicable in this situation. I am disgusted with the personal choices that the manager is making. It would have been refreshing to deal with a business that cared about its clients.

I am sorry for your issues with Red Tide. This is not something we inform guests about because it comes and goes so quickly at times. There is plenty of information in the news, however, we recommend you check Mote.org as they provide up-to-date beach samples. We did provide a reschedule credit for you to use for a year after your first failed visit. With the decision to reschedule a second time, we followed our reschedule policy of providing a reschedule credit minus a one night fee. The reason for this is because when a guest calls just a few days prior to arrival, we are typically unable to re-book that room. Instead of the Resort keeping the entire reservation cost due to this issue, we compromise with our guest so they can still reschedule even though we lose out, too. We feel this is fair for both the Resort and the guest. We want you to enjoy your stay with us when it is convenient and comfortable for you to do so.

Good Morning, I would like to file a complaint on Casey Key Resorts which is located at 317 Casey Key Road, Nokomis, FL. My husband and I booked a stay there from 5/26-5/29. (Room 7) On Wednesday, May 26th (almost midnight), my husband and I arrived for our stay at Golf Shore “Luxury” Resort. Upon entering our room, I was met by the overpowering odor of mold and mildew. I am quite familiar with this smell, as I’m highly allergic and have instant reactions. My husband looked into the AC and could see black mold. He removed the filter which looked like it had not been cleaned in months and washed it out. I immediately called the resort number and spoke with Taneisha, who attempted to transfer me 3 times to someone without success. I also sent a text message that night to the main number. You would think someone would respond to my message first thing in the morning, but it wasn’t until I went to the office at almost 1pm, that I was able to speak to Cheryl. She said she read my text, yet she didn’t respond which I just don’t understand. We were going to be gone most of the day for a memorial service and Cheryl said she would have someone clean the AC unit. We arrive back at the room (5/27) around 11:30 Pm and yes, there was an attempt to clean the AC unit, however, it’s still unacceptable. At that time, my husband proceeded to open the AC unit and clean out himself. In reality, this entire AC unit needs to be replaced, as it is clearly in violation of Florida’s Public Lodging Regulations and has physically made me feel ill. I have had to take more hits of my asthma pump in one day than I have in an entire year. On 5/28 I contact the “resort” via text message to let them know what occurred and how serious of a problem and violation this is. We finally get some attention and are given 2 hours to leave the property “since it wasn’t up to our standards” and told we would be refunded. My guess is they couldn’t offer to move us to another room because all the rooms have black mold issues. There is nothing “luxury” about this room or resort. Not only is there black mold (also on the door shade and bedding), but the room is falsely advertised-does not meet expectations and customer service is basically non existent. The bed is advertised as “queen” size; it’s definitely a full size bed. I also told Cheryl this and her response was, “it’s a queen size because we buy queen sheets for it and it fits”. You can buy king size sheets and dress your twin size bed, still doesn’t make it a king size bed! Also, there is only one dresser instead of the 2 shown. In fact, this isn’t even the room shown in the pictures. We were kicked out of the room a night early and were told we would be refunded by the merchant (exhibit A -page 1)- because we complained about the mold filled room since check in (exhibit A- entire thred, with pictures). Exhibit B is my complaint made to the Florida Department of health regarding mold in our room (7). Exhibit C- is the official public records from the Florida Department of Health, finding many violations, including mine from room 7 (marked with *). Exhibit D- is the charge of a new hotel we had to book. We are asking for what the merchant actually promised, “a refund for the reservation”. Since they were unable to meet our standards or simply having a clean space and air environment during our stay at their establishment.

Thank you for your attempt to defame the Resort on several platforms -- Spewing false comments on social media anywhere that you can. We have dealt with this matter directly with you already. However, in an effort of good faith and measure on our part, we will respond to your complaint again. First, the bed is a queen bed. It's a tempurpedic queen that I ordered myself. We do not have any full beds at the Resort whatsoever. Second, and I believe this is your biggest complaint: The air conditioner. This was a brand new air conditioner that we did clean and sanitize upon request. It was thoroughly washed while you were out. As a small staff, at busy times (such as the memorial day holiday) we were full and attending to all our guests as quickly as possible. Once you returned and found it still bothered your sensitive breathing, we would have then moved you to another bungalow, however we were full as it was a holiday weekend. There was no option to replace the HVAC unit at the last minute during a holiday weekend. After receiving a message asserting that the entire room was covered in black mold (which it was not), we realized you would not be comfortable in the bungalow, so we asked you to leave the private property by a certain time in order to get a refund. There was no response to this message, and you did not leave by that time, so the refund was not provided. The state inspector did come and look at our HVAC units -- He brought his wife along because they love the Resort and wanted to enjoy visiting the rooms. His notes were taken and there were no dire issues. We certainly did attend to the issues noted. We have had no further complaints from guests staying in the bungalow after you. I am sorry we could not come to an agreement, but I feel we made quite an effort on our part to make you comfortable and come to a suitable solution. Unfortunately, you were unable to meet the expectations set forth in the solution, so your refund was not processed.
