The manager checking us in was extremely rude and charged a mysterious $60 dollar add on that he explained was "taxes". and gave us the ," take it or leave it" thing .and that 8:30 PM was pasted check in time ... The room had roaches every where ! In 2017 this place was really cool ,,now it SUCKS !!!
Great experience, great people. Captain Cookie is the man. Affordable camps, food, drinks, pool room and a great f as n boat experience. Rude lasted over an hour. Lots of wildlife, as n acdc very informative.
We loved it!!!! Clean rooms great fishing!! The babies loved every min of it. And amazing people who have become like family to us!!! We will make this a permanent vacation spot! Y'all go out and visit!
We had a great time!! Cookie and Steve rocked. Learned lots about the EcoSystem and pollution and its effects. Will definitely go back!!! They literally saved our lives by recommending that we NOT kayak on the Okochobee!!! Great hospitality!
We stayed Friday and Saturday night. We were not able to find any information online about what to expect so we kind of went in blindly. The reviews that are on Tripadvisor seem to be from the same reviewer (family member maybe or maybe just a happy camper) Hopefully our review can shed some light on this fish camp. When you first arrive and enter the room, it is very, very musty. The fridge is not plugged in so you may want to do that first, second is go to the breaker and turn on the water heater so you have hot water. Highly recommend opening the windows to air out the room a bit as well. The rooms are essentially efficiency apartments. Some of the guests appear to live there. The cabins/rooms do not have grills, so make sure to bring one! The camp is a no frills Fish Camp. The rooms are not very clean (we found a booger on the wall, dead bugs and something that looked like feces in the bathroom) but not so horrible you can't deal with it. We did see some roaches outside, so make sure to shake out all your bags when you get home and throw everything in the wash right away. They offer air boat tours for 20pp if you are staying at the camp. The fishing was good and you will see a lot of Gators! They have a bait shop/store that offers some bait, drinks, beer, cigarettes and snacks like candy. If you are bringing a boat and do not plan to spend anytime in your room, this is a good place. If you are bringing a family and are thinking about campfires and family activities you may want to look elsewhere. We enjoyed the area and will visit again, honestly though we may try another camp next time. If they did some improvements to the rooms and store maybe added boat rentals and picnic areas, I think it would greatly improve the experience. Overall for $79.95 a night it is not horrible but you get a basic Fish Camp. …
