We traveled the Pine Creek Rail Trail which ended at the Jersey Shore. The only place to stay in town was the Gamble Farm and Inn. Lisa the manager was extremely helpful and efficient. The place has ample parking to leave a car while doing the ride. From there it went downhill. The place ambles and is a hazard with junk stuck in all corners. Beds made up in hallways. Our rooms were accessed through a grimy kitchen on the second floor and adjacent to the flat roof and exhaust. The room was clean enough. The dehumidifier was full and the shades and curtains were very dusty and old.Bathroom looked more like someone had lived there with a basin for dirty dishes. We also were appalled that they had live outdoor music and was packed with people sitting on picnic tables and without masks. We didn't feel comfortable eating the free breakfast because there were no masks worn by staff tho inside tables exhibited some social distancing. Looks like the Gamble has a long way to go to clean up their act....

The rambling old Gamble Inn has potential but needs a major overhaul. My room was located up a stairway, through a small but smelly kitchenette, outside on the roof (where exhaust fans were) and across a grimy walkway. The room was okay but many things were not right: the filthy shades did not work and were permanently at half mast, the refrigerator did not keep food cold, the dehumidifier was full of water, the towels were spotted with beach stains and felt damp, there was beard hair on the sink. It felt unclean. However, the bed was comfortable. The Inn and restaurant did not appear to follow the required COVID-19 procedures - staff did not wear or require masks, no isolation between tables, and zero sanitizing solution was evident. I have no confidence that the rooms were sanitized between customers. The does not take the risk of COVID-19 infections seriously given that they have many construction and trade workers from all over the country staying here. I guess I am not surprised given the signage on the grounds.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was very good, However, I paid over $100 for a room on the 3rd floor of the "newer" hotel and was very dissapionted. The walls were stained throughout the room, (They should use a washable paint) the bathroom had spackling that had not been painted over. The table was worn and looked second hand, as did the bed spreads which looked like they were bought from a garage sale. I thought maybe they were trying to have a "Farm House" atmosphere but just looks second hand. The one bed that was not a box base had thick dust underneath. I think the staff and owners are probably trying to do a good job but to pay over $100 for this room is way too much for what it is. Maybe $70.

Yes - this place is a little sketchy and yes it is dated and not so clean but none of this should deter you if you are in need of a place to stay. The beds are soft and our air conditioner was broken but it was not bad enough to deter my mother and I (who are pretty high maintenance) from staying for our one night stay.

The only word I have to say but this place is that is not clean and the website makes this place look much nicer than it is. The bar area seems fine but I can only give the lodging one star. I don't recommend this place.
