Very much enjoyed our stay. Enjoyed seeing all the antiques and unique pieces. The grounds are exquisite. Katherine was very helpful and accommodating to our needs. Breakfast was great. Will definitely stay again if passing through that area.
Our stay at the Herlong ranked among one of the best retreats we've had in our lifetime. I associated the service and appeal of the mansion to the top-most hotels in Venice. Kathleen and her staff went well beyond all expectations to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. My wife and I spent hours sitting on the balcony, overlooking the garden area, and enjoying the sounds of birds. The site is away from any background sounds of traffic. Instead, all you hear are the cries of nature. This created an atmosphere that was truly remarkable -- quite unlike anything you'd enjoy in most other places. The mansion is filled with old relics, most of which connect to the history of the building and the families that lived there. The breakfast was superbly done. I'd contend it was superior to anything I've had outside of Europe. The location is perfect for touring the regions of Gainesville and Ocala. Beyond that, you'll have to measure your drive times. It's the sort of place where you go to spend some time enjoying the property, sipping wine, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. I'm giving the Herlong a strong five-star review because Kathleen and the staff fully earned every word of praise I've written. My wife and I fully intend to return sometime in the future.…
My husband and I visited the Herlong Mansion on our way back from Pensacola to South Florida. We loved the property with its charming main house and beautiful garden. The giant oak trees around town are gorgeous. We felt thrown back in time which triggered the most relaxed feeling in us. Breakfast on the big front porch was great and the staff was simply outstanding. Finding the light in the bathroom at night was our only challenge but resetting and thinking old times made us find the switch:-)
I chose this place for an anniversary getaway! I planned it as a surprise for my wife. We arrived and realized it was a wonderful choice. Our big surprise was that we were on the third floor. We are in our seventies. But, we plowed ahead, and it wasn't a major hurdle. The place was immaculate and beautifully furnished. The personnel was very warm and genuine. Our room was comfortable and, as my wife said, cheery. The highlight for us was the breakfast time. They have a dining room, but have table in other parts of the first floor and on the front porch. We chose the front porch. The breakfast is three courses. They ask ahead about and dietary needs or restrictions. It was perfect! It was nice that the Inn was right downtown Micanopy. I HIGHLY recommend this place.
We had a unique experience staying in this plantation style mansion. The room was large and comfortable. Easy on-site access and parking only two minutes walk from the town center. Our night was peaceful, the air fresh and breakfast (from 8 am - 9 am) sumptuous. Only downside for the hyper-active? No TVs in the rooms and the town of Miconopy was asleep early. Great little bar, 'The Depot', five miles away on Highway 441.
