Stayed here one night for a pre-cruise stay. Perfectly adequate for a chain hotel. The most disappointing part actually wasn't event the hotel but the airport shuttle service. Waited over an hour even though the hotel is within less than 10 minutes drive from the airport. The airport shuttle picks you up at the arrivals bus zones 7, 15, and 23 in the hotel shuttle area. Was told they come evert hour on the hour but actually came at random times, for instance it was there at 3:50PM instead of at 4 so good thing we were already waiting for it earlier. When it came we were at the last stop (#23) so it was already full. Even though they had already put our luggage in the back when we went to get inside it was completely full so we couldn't get on and had to have our luggage taken back out. The guy loading the luggages told us that the next one would be by in about 10 minutes but it took half an hour. We almost called an Uber but decided to wait for the free shuttle instead and this time made sure we got on. The shuttle runs from 6AM to midnight. So once we got to the hotel it was fine, smooth check in and the room was your standard chain hotel room, pretty decent with a fridge, microwave, safe (didn't work), iron, blow dryer, couch, desk, standard bathroom amenities etc. Our room was facing NW 36th Street which is a main street running north of the airport so we were able to view the airport runway and planes taking off which was pretty cool, I would track them on the Flightradar app to see where they were going. It wasn't noisy and we were able to sleep fine. The hotel is located behind a Days Inn motel which has terrible reviews. I could see the back parking lot of this hotel from my window and saw lots of shady looking people around, especially at night, which made me so glad we didn't stay there instead. Prostitutes and drug dealers if I'm being blunt. Some people have said the area is dangerous but it's not, it's located near the airport but behind it's a residential area. You do see some homeless and shady looking people walking around on the streets outside but they didn't bother us and you also see lots of tourists walking around so there's a mix of people. Maybe just don't walk around too much at night and you'll be fine. The location of the hotel is not bad, there is a McDonalds about a 5 minute walk away and a Circle K next door which was really well stocked with booze, fruits, drinks, snacks, yogurts, etc. There is also an IHOP if you want to walk a bit further than the McDonalds still less than a 10 minute walk away. The next morning we had breakfast which is served from 6-10am. It was really good and there was seating for everyone even though it was pretty busy. They had both hot and continental foods like eggs, toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. The lobby was busy to get the bus to the cruise port, it was just parked by the side of the hotel and nobody came in to tell us they were ready to board but we saw people outside walking toward it and went. The bus transportation to the cruise port is free you just have to register when you check in for the next day. The shuttles go at 9am, 10:30am, and 12pm on Mondays to Thursdays and at 9:30am, 11am, 12:30pm, and 1:30pm on Fridays to Sundays. The bus is a full sized air conditioned coach bus so plenty of comfortable space for everyone. It's about a 15 minute drive from the hotel to the port. Overall would I recommend this and stay here again? Yes if the price is right and because of the free quality breakfast, free airport shuttle, and free cruise port bus. We paid about $200 for the one night which I thought was pretty expensive but it was the cheapest decent hotel I could find in the area with free breakfast and transportation, and we did travel during March Break which probably explains the higher rate.…
I picked this hotel because it was close to the airport, had a shuttle and I am an Elite Rewards Member. I checked in with no problems, was not recognized as an Elite member and was not offered a special treat for my loyalty. My room was spacious and clean. The hotel showed some wear - the carpeting was frayed and faded and one of the elevators was out of order. The outdoor pool is advertised as heated, but the water was cold. The front desk morning staff on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 (3 ladies), were very accommodating when I needed some business emails printed out. They were very friendly, polite and professional. They were awesome. Breakfast was an assortment of scrambled eggs, cereals, breads and apples. If you need a hotel for business or pre/post cruise, this is a good hotel to stay at. I think the price could be a little lower due to age of hotel and it is looking its age. The thing I absolutely did not like about my stay here and was amazed that it happened was.... I took the hotel shuttle to the airport and the driver stopped at the ARRIVAL area to pick hotel guests and told the guests in the shuttle this is where we get out. I had to walk a very long way to get to my airline and my gate. Hotels usually ask what airline each passenger is flying out of and drops us off at that airline's departure area. This was very poor service! If you have trouble walking or have kids with you and are expecting to ride the hotel shuttle and be dropped at your airline, do not stay here. The front desk personnel were great. The airport shuttle was not. That is why I only gave 3 stars.…
Overall the place looks nice until you take a closer look… the pull out bed sheets were stained, the blanket smelled like bo and had food stains, on one of the main beds it also had pizza stains on them from the person who had slept there the night before. When you ask the front desk for a new one they tell you they’re out. They also lie about there airport shuttle, the website states that it runs 24/7 but in reality it runs from 6am-12am. Not to mention the in elevator working with my party waiting upwards of 7 mins for an elevator. To top it off there’s garbage and glasses underneath the beds. Although, the staff is friendly, nice pool and the nice and convenient cruise shuttle, I would skip the hotel.
We are here now. The staff is very friendly. The room is a good size. However the room is very very dark, not enough lighting, and it is very dirty. I just checked in and I spent my time so far Clorox wiping all the surfaces as each wipe had filth on it. Not impressed. Wish I chose another hotel for our 3 night stay.
My stay started off badly just like other reviews here. Waited at the airport for over an hour for their free shuttle, which finally arrived 30 minutes past the time I was told, only to drive right by all of us because he was full. We decided at that point to give up and grab a taxi instead. Arrived at the hotel around 1:00 PM to find a lobby packed with guests waiting for rooms to open up. They put my name on a list and said they would call when my room was ready. Check-in was 3:00, so I fully expected a long wait, especially with 20 - 30 guests ahead of me. There was literally no seating left in the lobby, so I wandered out to the pool area which was completely deserted, probably because you needed a room keycard to open the doors. Another option is to just pry the automatic door open. So, I found a nice shaded chair and settled down for the expected wait. I was pleasantly surprised 45 minutes later with a call that my room was ready. The room was large, clean and the bed was comfortable. I have absolutely zero complaints. I was able to get on the list for the free port shuttle the next morning. It appeared that they had hourly shuttles beginning at 9:30. I took the 9:30, and it departed on time. No issues. The free breakfast buffet was also acceptable with several hot items and decent coffee. The restaurant options for dinner within walking distance are few. There is a Subway on the corner, but it closes in late afternoon. The McDonald's a couple of blocks away is open at dinner, but their lobby is closed, and I had to talk my way through the drive-thru because they didn't want to serve me without a car. There is also a restaurant inside the Ramada Inn just past the McDonald's (Old Tom's Sports Bar or something similar) that our cabbie recommended. That's pretty much it. The area isn't the best, and I actually grabbed my dinner a bit early from McDonald's so I wouldn't be walking after dark. If they could fix their airport shuttle issues, I'd consider staying here again.…
We stayed here overnight on January 14th, the fourth time we have stayed here in the last few years. We booked here because all of our past stays (and reviews) have been excellent, however this time we were really dissapointed with the hotel. I want to start by saying the staff were amazing as always; super friendly and accommodating. We had some issues with hot water in our room and they didn't hesitate to find us a room with hot water. We did not utilize the courtesy shuttle to and from the cruise port as past experience has taught us it's a bit of nightmare, with a lot of people fighting for a spot early/not following directions/waiting their turn. We used an Uber instead and it was great as we pre-booked it the night before, it was quick, and worth the money for a stress free trip to the port. The breakfast was good, a nice selection of options to cater to many different tastes, with tea and coffee available 24/7. There are multiple restaurants within walking distance, as well as a well stocked gas station on the corner for all those last minute/munchy needs. Sadly, the hotel itself has gone downhill. It really all comes down to cleanliness, and I am sorry to say that the hotel overall was very dirty. The pool area/loungers were dirty, the floors (outside of the tiled lobby area) were very dirty, and it was obvious no real vacuuming/cleaning had been done in some time. The hallway floors and walls were dirty, and the elevators were really bad as well. The carpets in the rooms were dirty, the bathroom floor (in both of the rooms we were in) were also very dirty, with a lot of build up/old dirt dust everywhere. I am sad to write this review given how absolutely spotless the hotel has been on all of our past stays, but it is necessary so that anyone who is looking to book for the first time, or to book again based on past experiences is fully informed of the negative changes. I am sorry to say that we will be looking for another hotel on our upcoming visits to Miami.…
Pros: bed was comfortable and cruise port shuttle was great (provided by a third party). Cons: airport shuttle was awful! Waited 2 hours and was told by hotel staff that it is a "courtesy". So, because it is a "courtesy" they are allowed to leave you stranded and give you horrible service. The shuttle service was the primary reason I chose this hotel. It was convenient and a great selling point. Please look elsewhere. I wish I had done more research because many other hotels offer shuttle service as well and we saw many shuttles make multiple pick- ups while we continued to wait. The furniture in the room was dated and dirty.
Ants in bathroom. Didn’t seem safe. Trash in hallways. Do not recommend staying here. We booked this by mistake and it is a one star hotel. Do not stay at Comfort Suites Miami Airport North if you can help it
Just don’t stay here.. this place used to be good. Not anymore. It’s absolutely filthy. There were the same towels thrown around the pool area for three days. The pool loungers are so dirty I didn’t want to sit on them. The gate to the pool area is broken allowing the homeless living across the street easy access to the pool for their hygiene needs. The pool area does not have any lighting at night. The door to the pool area has to be forced open as it does not function as an automatic door should. The breakfast area has ants crawling all over in the morning. The outside grounds are dirty, trash blowing around. We went to the McDonald’s close by and were warned by the local police officers this is a dangerous area. The airport shuttle took over half an hour, it’s a third party contractor, to pick us up from the airport. The guest rooms are gross. The carpet under the air conditioner was wet the entire time, the bath tub didn’t have a plug, there was so much dust there was fur on the electrical outlet covers. The hallways are dirty never vacuumed. The amount of torn carpeting is shameful. The elevators are dirty not vacuumed with fingerprints everywhere. There’s glass missing from the table tops by the elevators on some floors. Seriously don’t stay here go to coral gables or out by the beach. This area is dangerous and sketchy at best.…
If I could give this hotel a negative rating I would give it a negative 5. I had the worst experience at a hotel that I have ever had and it all boils down to customer service. To make a very long story short, I made a prepaid reservation for 11/30 for one night. We realized we were going to be late to arrive to the hotel so I called to let them know that that we were not going to arrive until about 12:30am. I was assured that that was ok. As per hotel policy they are to hold reservation until 7am. We did arrive a little later than expected (1:15am ish) as we had an emergency to take care of. Once arrived we waited for about 20 minutes without any acknowledgment. Once finally acknowledged by the desk attend we were informed that our reservation was canceled. I asked how could this be as it was a prepaid reservation. He shrugged his shoulder as if he didn't care. I asked to speak to a Manger as I had a 6am flight and needed to take a quick nap and a shower. I was told repeatedly for an hour that she was busy and will be out soon. After waiting for that hour I decided to called the hotel customer relations line where they wanted to help by getting us another room for twice as much (unacceptable). I tried to file a formal complaint but at that time in the morning I was told that their systems were updating and he could not create a case. I went back to the desk and asked once again crying and emotionally beaten down, to speak to the manager because at this point I only had time for a quick shower so that I could put on some warm cloths to go north. Finally after waiting for 2 hours the manager come and I pleaded to be able to take a shower even in a dirty room. I was allowed to take a shower in a dirty room with no hot water. Honestly, at that point I was greatful. I have tried to file a complaint about 3 time with their customer service line and keep getting the run around. Finally on the 4th attempt they rudely created a case for me. This hotel/company has a lot of work to do the the following areas: -customer service - don't avoid your upset guests and make the situation right. If I was the manager I was put my big girl pants on and clean a room. -customer relations - they are useless. They can create a case and send it to hotel management but they can't give you timelines or any concrete answer. You just get bounces around. -training - they hotel needs to train their employees on how to make guest feel valued. Again, this is the short version.. This was a complete fail for the hotel and Choice. DO BETTER!!!!…
