They started to tear up the pool two days before our departure and never told the guests. Something complimentary would have been nice, considering I stayed there just because of the pool. Otherwise, lovely pool the days prior to the renovation, great and friendly staff,...More
The pool is definitely the best part of the hotel. It is a beautiful space, there are hammocks and cabanas to relax in, the food and drinks are great. It is truly relaxing and luxurious. On the Saturday we were there, there was a DJ...More
I had another great time at the Raleigh. There are bigger, newer and more expensive hotels in Miami Beach- I've stayed at a number of them-but none are better than the Raleigh. This is my favorite hotel in Miami Beach. The pool is the best...More
We decided to spend our anniversary in Miami Beach and dine at a favorite restaurant. We called the Raleigh oue to its excellent reputation and long time position as one of the grande dame hotels in the area. We were not disappointed. I wanted to...More

They are EXTREMELY different hotels, so it depends upon your taste. The Fontainebleau is massive, bustling and luxurious, with a posh spa, multiple restaurants and a gazillion guests and staff members who will cater to your every need. It is also pretty far up the beach, so if you want to go to where the action is (Lincoln Road Mall, with its shops and countless outdoor cafes and movie theater, and Ocean Drive) you need to drive there and park. The Raleigh is more of a boutique hotel, with a gorgeous art deco pool, a poolside bar and restaurant, valet parking, etc. It is tight on the beach and is within a short walk of the destinations above. No spa, no crowds, no commotion. Both hotels are fab. I have never been in the rooms at the Fountainebleau, but I far prefer the Raleigh. But that's me.
