The Clevelander South Beach Hotel offers a lively atmosphere with a party vibe that reviewers either love for its energy or find overwhelming when seeking tranquility. While the amenities, including beach services and parties, are a hit, guests have mentioned challenges with towel availability and unexpected fees. Its prime location is ideal for those eager to dive into Miami's nightlife and beach scene, although not everyone appreciates the bustle. Service quality appears to fluctuate, with some praising the staff's attentiveness and others frustrated by slow responses. The rooms are generally clean but small and basic, with the value proposition sometimes questioned due to additional costs.

My accommodations were changed to the Clevelander, due to a sister property, Stiles Hotel, not having the type of room I booked available. What started as a terrible hotel experience blossomed into a truly great vacation. Property managers Dan and Domingo Llerandi provided stellar service. They quickly rebooked my reservation and provided compensation for the inconvenience and rude service I previously experienced.

The location and atmosphere of the Clevelander are the best on Ocean Dr. Day or night, you can find great music, food and entertainment. The rooms are small, but you’re paying for the location and access to the outdoor lounge space. The pool could be considered a dipping pool because of its size. If you’re in Miami to have a good time, then spend those extra dollars to stay here. You won’t regret it.

Positive first : Joel at the hotel lobby is outstanding, very informative, resourceful, attentive and customer service on fleek.

Hotel generous with the welcome drink.

Complimentary coffee and croissant at a restaurant around the corner; Bacon Bitch, it's a really good place to have breakfast at as well.

Other staff is kind and easy going.

If you are into very inviting amenities then this is not the place for you. It is a very basic hotel that is a few steps away from the beach. Rooms are very small, it's not the kind of room where you just want to chill and relax in. Two people in the bathroom at the same time is overwhelming because it is very tiny.

There are no pool parties happening due to the latest covid restrictions so if you are coming here for that then be mindful.

You have to book the room service ahead of time. Safe in both rooms did not work but Joel had it fixed promptly.

I asked for extra blankets but I got additional sheets only because they don't have blankets. I had to sleep with my jacket on one night because I was feeling really cold.

If you get a pool view room you can be going to bed until much later at night due to the booming music in the pool area.

If you are just going to crash at night, shower quickly and leave the room then maybe you can make this work. It offers very inviting pricing. If you want to do more in the room then look else where.

The location is the only reason to stay here. We had a room facing the pool and that’s great if you never plan on being in the room and sleeping only after 3:30am. Otherwise you will hear music all day and most of the night. The room is the smallest room I have ever stayed in. The bathroom has an awkward sliding door so actual privacy is a myth. The cleaning people forgot to give us sheets and never changed our towels but we somehow were charged a resort fee when there are zero resort amenities. You stay here to party only.

Sadly this was not a great hotel stay experience. The first issue was our room was not ready as we were early. While my confirmation said check-in was at 3pm, we didn't get to check in until close to 4pm. We asked the front desk if they were able to keep our bags so we could go grab lunch and walk around a bit, but they stated they were not able to do so. It was odd because the next day we went to another hotel and they were able to hold our bags while we waited on the room and we were able to enjoy their amenities while we waited.
We dragged our bags to lunch at the bar and grill and I'll say the food was the highlight of the entire experience.

Once our room was ready and we went upstairs to discover they gave us the wrong type of room. We were supposed to get a room with two double beds, but instead, it was only one king bed in the room. Therefore we had to go back downstairs to get that fixed, which I will say was fixed quickly. They label the room as having an ocean view and therefore charge more for the room. Well if you look across the street, beyond the palm trees and other elements, then you can see glimpses of the ocean. Also would be nice if they cleaned the windows to help even with that view.

Also they never had beach towels available for us during our stay so we just had to use the bathroom towels when we went to the beach.

We did like the location of the hotel to the proximity of other things on the strip, but feel it was worth the money we paid for this location. It would also be helpful for them to inform guests about the parking situation in the area since you need to either find street parking (which impossible after 8am) or pay $75 for an overnight stay in a parking garage down the street.

All in all, I would not recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family members.

We stayed at The Clevelander last night and the room was very loud and lit all night and we only got an hour of sleep. The city is under a curfew and the outside party had to stop at 10:00 so that wasn't the issue.

I am not sure the source of the noise, but it sounded like every time someone in the hotel flushed a toilet, used a sink or the shower, water would flow through the pipes and would make a loud "jet like" sound for 3 - 4 minutes. This occurred many times per hour and woke us up every time. In addition, you couldn't make the room dark. Between the neon lights right outside our room windows and the excessive hallway light streaming in through the non-sealed room door the room was never dark.

We are still a fan of hanging out at the restaurant but I do not recommend spending the night at the hotel.

When I started to frequent Miami Beach around 2006 the Clevelander was closed for a full renovation. When it finally opened in 2009? I stayed a couple of times. Back again over Xmas. Still fun. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The free breakfast in the ESPN Zone bar was a little skimpy ( Think Holiday inn Express without the waffles and breakfast meat) The only thing I disliked was the covering up 60% of the pool with a dance floor. You can walk down Ocean 1 and a half block and dance at Mangos

Let's be real, the Clevelander doesn't have a whole lot of basic amenities, like a coffee maker. The rooms are small but i expected it because it is an old hotel. Also, if you're looking for a hotel where you can enjoy he peace and quiet, this isn't the hotel for you. But we knew this before booking. Besides, we really weren't going to be hanging out in our hotel room anyway. However, what the Clevelander lacks in amenities and services, they more than make up in service. The staff were incredibly hospitable and accommodating and did their best to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable with what they had. A few standouts--Jamal at the front desk. We stayed at the hotel for a week and after a night of partying in South Beach, he was a welcome face at the end of the night that told us, "we're home!" He always had a smile on his face, was efficient, treated us like we were a guest in his own home. At check out, Christtina was super knowledgable and had the answers to all of our quesions. Usually, when you're trying to catch a plane, the checkout process can be traumatic. But Christina got us checked out fast and efficiently and detailed our folio charges in a way that made it understandable. Overall, my experience with the staff more than made up for the lack of amenities that the Clevelander had. Great service is hard to find nowadays.

We believe in our team and strive to make every guest feel at home, so it was a joy passing along your comments to Jamal and Christtina. However, please accept our apology that our hotel's amenities did not meet your expectations. We are a limited-service property, so we do not offer all of the amenities of a full-service hotel. We could not have been more disappointed in this hotel. We have visited South Beach many times over the past 4 years. This hotel is the worst. We found hair in the room. The pool is so cloudy & dirty you couldn't see the crud on the bottom {see pics} We were solicited three times in one day for illegal drugs on their property. It was loud no matter where you went in the hotel.
This hotel is not by any means on par with the other hotels in the area. There are so many better choices when visiting South Beach.
We tried to discuss our concerns with Mariano the manager on site but he said the hotel was full and they couldn't make any exceptions for our requests.
Make note of this before you book Hotel in South Beach. They choose not to accommodate their guests needs.

First off, the MANAGER gave me false information about parking. He told me staying at the Pelican parking garage would be $35 a night because they were associated together. After I showed my receipt and tried to leave, it was $100!!! Then the manager went back on what he said and did not refund or help out. Second, we paid a resort fee but everything was closed due to Covid. Why did I have to pay for something I did not get? The room was dated with no luggage rack, microwave, or fridge. The walls are so thin we could hear parties outside and our neighbors early in the morning. The bathroom walls are also see-though! No privacy in your own room. Very unprofessional and would not recommend to anyone!

This is an adults only party hotel. Great for Bachelorette parties or people that like to stay up past 2am. The Pros: Fun atmosphere, good music, close to beach, close to restaurants
The Cons: LOUD. DJ plays music til 2am the Wed and Thurs nite we were there and 3am on Friday nite we were there. Our room 504 faced the pool and dance floor, so a room on another side would be quieter but not quiet. The rooms are not soundproof, and hall noise was way above average for hotel noise. The beds were full size not queen in the double bed rooms. The rooms were very small. You had to squeeze past the toilet by the sliding door to the bathroom. It was so tight. It didn't even seem to code for construction honestly. Also, there is zero privacy in the bathroom from you traveling companions. Zero. The bathroom is tiny and not good for getting ready to go out, especially if you have more than 1 person doing hair and makeup to go out. You pay a daily resort fee that includes a beach chair (but umbrella is extra $20) but the beach for your chair is 5 blocks away from the hotel. In this area, there are drink people walking around to buy alcohol and non alcoholic drinks. You can take your provided beach towel and walk across the street and lay on the sand. To end on a positive note, it is a great people watching place and if you don't need much sleep, this is a great place for you to stay. If you want quiet and more space and privacy, go somewhere else.
