Got what we had expected. The location is excellent, right on ocean drive 5th street (south beach), stayed in room 210. It is definitely a good option for budget (no luxury trips). Has kitchen facility as well if you need to cook for kids, though few utensils.

I rented 2 condos located at the Barbizon through VRBO. Two different owners (Unit 218 and 205); 2 bedroom and a studio on July 7-11th. The location was close to everything on Ocean Drive and right across the street from the beach. All the condos will look different based on how the owner decorates it. There are some permanent residents, but most units are rented out. Each condo had a kitchen and stove. We only had 1 key to enter the building, which was a hassle considering the whole time we were there, we only saw a person at the front desk twice for only a couple hours. After 3pm, no one was there but a sign that security was on patrol, but we never saw security. The location was perfect and I would stay again.

Just back from Miami South Beach, Memorial Day Weekend, 2016. We stayed, a group of 4 adults at the Barbizon in room 204. I read several reviews prior to my arrival, so i had several preconceived notions, some of which were accurate some were not. Starting at check in, when I pulled up to the valet parking sign in front of the building, no one was there and I had to go about a half a block to find someone.. The building itself has no parking but after a little work valet worked just fine. The building is a bit dated but what it lacks in decor it more them makes up for it with the Location. Literally steps from the beach . My check in was at 3 but when we arrived they were still cleaning it. It was the holiday weekend so perhaps Helena (who was very helpful) was overwhelmed. We stayed in room 204, its a corner room. it has very nice windows very bright. The windows however were filthy. The room itself was a small to mid sized 3 bedroom apartment. Again it was tidy but didn't feel clean. the floor was sticky and our room, the masters bathroom smelled like urine and had a broken toilet seat that pinched you bottom overtime you sat on it. The other 2 rooms were small but more then adequate. there was a full kitchen and a washer and dryer and everything seemed to work just fine. if you plan on cooking ask for skillets or extra pots because the room did not have many. One of my main concerns was the noise from the street. Yes there was some outside noise on the very busy weekend but no so much that I couldn't get a good nights sleep. Beach towels and a ball were provided along with trash bags and additional toilet paper when requested. The elevator worked just fine 6 of the 7 days. There was also someone (security) sitting at the front desk 80% of the time. The Mexican restaurant downstairs was excellent both breakfast and dinner and they gave people who stayed at the Barbizon a 20% discount. Literally a few mins form Walgreens ,plenty restaurants , and a liquor store. overall would def recommend this place especially if you like the party atmosphere that south beach offers.

Ok so I must say that my experience at this hotel was great. Talk about being in the middle of all the action. This is the ideal place for some one that is young and fun. If your looking for peace and quite this is not the place for you. The room it's self was spacious and very modern and clean. It's actually more like a studio apartment. It has literally like 10 Windows (that open) and you can feel the breeze straight fromthe beach which is literally 10 steps away from the door. The kitchenette was equip with EVERYTHING that you could need and more! And the bedroom and bathroom were tucked away behind a beautiful glass wall with glass French doors. The living room had a couch that folded into a full size bead. The wifi was great And to top off the room the location was like the freaking best!!!! Walk outside and your by basically all the south beach "staples" your on ocean drive for goodness sake! The only thing that I can think of that someone might not like is that there is no real reception desk or daily room service only a security guard but for me that was ABSOLUTELY no problem. I know this was a lengthy review but j just wanted to give a thorough review. Hope this helps! 😁😁❤️

We booked this property because it had many good reviews on Home Away. These reviews are not real at all or the owner stopped taking care of this property. Also, if the owner responds to this claiming that this is not true - I am posting all of the proof as pictures.

We arrived to Miami early morning, went to the property at about 12 - the front desk let us in and we were waiting in the hallway until the check-in of 2:00 pm. I called Alex at the time and asked if the cleaning person was still there and asked if we can maybe leave our luggage so we can go do other things. He said go ahead and knock on the door, I did so and advised the person that we arrived early and we are waiting - we decided not to leave the luggage and just decided to wait until 2:00 pm; 2:00 pm arrives, place was still not ready, 2:15 arrived, still not ready so we decided to go up there. Knocked on the door and the cleaning lady did not understand what we were saying, which is fine but she was still cleaning and taking out the garbage. I've never seen that before and we would have not cared too much about this until we found other problems. As soon as the person left, we decided to take a nap because we could not sleep on our flight at night. We uncovered the bed and found that the sheets were not clean at all - BLOOD stain, rust stains, hair were on the sheets and pen marks on the cover. I do not think anyone would be comfortable sleeping on those sheets. Also, I am pretty sure that in any hotel/condo, rental the sheets should be white so they can be bleached. After we saw that, we started looking around and found black long hair all over the floor. No not just one piece, many black hairs, which told us the floor was not cleaned. I have NO IDEA what the cleaning person did there the entire time. We contacted Alex right away - we were not angry as it we thought it was not his fault - we are normally super easy to deal with and I normally only leave good reviews and don't even care about some small things; however, how this owner of the property treated us later made me write a review. We contacted him right away, he said he will contact the cleaning company. Well, he sent that same woman in so we ourselves can explain to her what was wrong - we told him that made us feel really uncomfortable. We came there for a vacation, paid a lot of money (about $700.00) and should not have to deal with that. He or someone at the cleaning company should have explained this to her. From what we understood, she told us that she does only what she is told. It was an awkward situation and Alex (the owner) told us he can only get them out there to clean the next day as they have other jobs to do. We told him we cannot wait that long... Would you sleep on whoever-knows-who-used sheets before? He seemed like he wanted to work with us first, seemed very nice while we were there. We proposed to him that we (ourselves) go to a store, buy sheets (for him to reimburse us later) and we will sweep the floor and to cancel the cleaning for tmrw as we simply wanted to take care of that and enjoy our vacay that we paid for. Here is what he told us: "After you get the sheets you tell me how much it is and I will either refund your card or mail you a check for that plus another $50 for the inconvenience". This made us feel good and we were like whatever lets just enjoy the vacation, Alex promised us at least some sort of a refund and that's that. We were happy about this solution. He also said: "A good place to get sheets is either Ross or TJMaxx". We went to Ross, got sheets for $29.99 and sent his a receipt right away. I asked him when we will see the refund, no response.

We did not contact him after that while we stayed there and just enjoyed our time. Btw, when we told the owner about the problem, he told us if we want, we can find another place. We came here during the Ultra Music Festival, places were not available started 1-2 months ago and if we would have left this place, we would of had to pay literally 1k more so that was not an option and that is why we still stayed there.

ALSO, when you walk into the room, it smells like MOLD very badly, we saw the black mold all over all vents (pictures attached); the blinds on the windows have not been dusted for months or more. It looks like this place needs a deep clean. Every time, you walk into the room, you get hit with the strong mold smell - the owner told us it is salt deposits; it smells like mold - mold smell is very distinctive.

So, we arrived to Denver, I contacted him to ask about the refund. Here is a very weird message we got:

"Hi -my name is Mary Ellen-Alex asked me to follow up his emails and texts because he is currently not able to. I haven't actually read the emails or texts out of deference to his privacy. There is no way to sugar coat this. On Monday he lost his only son to heroin. I Plan to gently suggest that he try to refocus on this and a stack of other business matters that are piling up in the near future, but as you could imagine he is not in very good shape right now. Thank you for understanding.
M. E." We felt really bad/were saddened (even though this is a bit too much personal info) and I replied no problem, we will wait longer. There was no word from them 2 weeks later, I send a message again, then after a few days again, then again and still no response. No response, until I told him that I will be forced to post a review. If he would have given us the 70 bucks promised, I would not have even left a review because I understand things happen, but after I sent a message to him again stating that I will have to write a review, he freaked out and wrote that he thinks we no longer deserve a refund. He told us that we don't know what it is like to have real problems, etc... (I WAS IN SHOCK):
He was only nice to us and seemed like he wanted to work with us while we were in Miami. I am attaching all pictured and conversations because this whole refund promise was a scam and he never intended to give us a refund. We also left the sheets there (brand new practically, comparing to the ones that were there). The owner is not a nice person, there is no reason to promise people things you are not going to provide. I submitted a complaint through PayPal and sent them all info, they issued us a refund. I am leaving this review because I do not want others to pay a lot of money and then have to deal with this. We wasted a lot of time trying to contact him, then trying to deal with PayPal, etc. If you want to stay in a moldy, dirty apt, go ahead but there are many other placed in Miami.
