Check in was easy, it's in a great location and most importantly Terry at the front desk fixed all my woes in the world.

Not only did he carry up my heavy luggage when the elevator was out, he helped me print a bunch of stuff/docs i needed and fixed my TV! We need to clone him.

Oh and he gave me recommendations on where to go for coffee and to grab a bite to eat. One of the most helpful ppl ever, he went above and beyond.

The room was spacious and ok (kinda outdated) but it's in a great neighborhood. You can't beat the location!

Hotel Astor is a boutique Art Deco hotel in the heart of South Beach (and only a couple of blocks from the beach). It's located across the street from what is currently a block of abandoned businesses (except for a new CVS) and close to an area where there is a lot of street crime (i.e. on the night after we left, there was a fatal shooting a few blocks north of the hotel) so exercise caution when walking to/from the hotel at night.

We booked the Astor Suite for 3 nights because it was advertised as spacious (with a separate bedroom) and had a private terrace. It was filthy! Upon arriving, we noticed a gross mayo-like substance all over the lip of one of the wastebaskets. The area rug in the middle of the main room was stained and filthy. There were hairs on the floor of one of the bathrooms. During our entire stay the floors were never swept or vacuumed. Glasses in the bathroom were never washed or replaced. The wastebasket in the main room was never emptied (a pizza box we left on top of it on the 2nd night was never taken away). As far as we could tell, housekeeping consisted only of making the bed and replacing bath towels (the beach towels provided were never replaced).

There was no iron or ironing board in the room. The main room features (oddly) a bar with nothing more than a sink. There are no electrical outlets on it or near it, so the coffee machine sitting on top of the bar has to be taken somewhere else to be used. A microwave was sitting on the floor in the corner of the room. There were no sheets, blanket or pillows for the sofa bed (we had to ask the front desk for some).

Yes, the Astor Suite is spacious and the terrace is a nice perk but it needs a thorough scrubbing and daily cleaning.

The front desk staff was friendly, for the most part, so no complaints there.

We found affordable parking in a municipal garage beside the police station just two blocks north of the hotel ($20 per 24 hours). There is also a municipal lot beside the hotel but we didn't want to leave the car there overnight due to the sketchiness of the neighbourhood.

Hotel Astor has a small pool for cooling off (though it, too, was pretty dirty and we didn't see anyone using it) and a nice bar. There is also free Starbucks coffee available in the lobby and a continental breakfast served daily (we skipped that because clearly the hotel isn't big on cleaning).

Hotel Astor would be an exceptional property if it cleaned itself up and maybe fixed itself up in a few places. It's certainly not the worst I've experienced in South Beach.

Do NOT book this hotel, you will deeply regret it. A/C did not work, room was HOT. Not comfortable to sleep in, let alone relax in. TV and safe were both broken. Couldn't watch TV or lock up our valuables. Window on our first floor room was shattered. We were picking old food, an empty used bottle, and trash off the floor. There's gum stuck to the wall. This room hasnt been propery cleaned for a long time. We slept on top of the covers with our clothes on. We only got two towels for 4 people. No restaurant open and pool was unavailable. They refused to switch us rooms both days we stayed, even though they had us wait around like there was hope. Hotel and room looks absolutely NOTHING like the pictures. Paid almost $470 for 2 nights and I would expect this out of a $40 motel. They simply don't care. We stayed up until 11pm at night waiting for the manager to contact us to resolve anything and they didn't ever call us. The whole 3 days we were there, there were bags of dirty laundry and trash piled up next to the stairs. Unsanitary... No coffee in rooms either. Lobby has it but no coffee cups. We emailed management and they won't do a thing, basically unresponsive... Not during our stay to move us to an operable/sanitary room or over a week after. Stay FAR away! Dirty, hot, broken down hotel. I'm getting ready to file a report with the BBB etc. With bad management operations like this and completely fake hotel amenities and pictures, they won't be operating for much longer.

I'm extremely disappointed that I stayed at this hotel. My husband tried to call Priceline to get a refund, but they said it was to late because we checked in. This hotel did not have the basic amenities promised on their website. For example, free parking. Parking is not FREE! You have to do valet parking and its $40. Half of the stuff advertised is false. When I went to my room, we did not have any heat. It was 40 degrees outside and the a.c. was on high. When I called the front desk to have someone come fix it, the rep said the guy who fixes things left for the day. It was like 4pm in the afternoon, and theres no one there to fix anything if something breaks down. Then there was no toilet paper at all in the room. The rep who hardly spoke english gave us another room on another floor. Found out that the elevator did not work, and when I got to the new room that she gave us, I found out that they dont provide cable. So my husband and I had no working t.v.. Basically the hotel does not provide heat, cable, toilet paper, free parking and restaurant. The rep at the front desk told me that I should of brought a laptop, because they at least offer wifi. The only good thing I can say about the hotel is that the mattress is comfortable and the location is good. That's it! This hotel was rated as a 3.5 star hotel, but it's really a 2 star hotel.

Having arrived at the hotel for check-in for our one week holidays in Miami Beach we were told the hotel is overbooked and therefore our room is not available. No communication in that respect before our arrival and where we booked the room around 3 months in advance (and where our booking was with free cancellation option until the date of arrival, which option could have been utilized if we would had known the problem). It is even more painful when it happens on 31 December in the evening thus spoiling our New Year mood and willingness to celebrate it. The receptionist Based on written instruction left by the hotel manager left to the receptionist we were told to go to another accommodation (of course, on our own) within Wyndham chain (at 1200 Ocean Drive) where we were given a room. However, that was a studio while our original booking was an apartment with a separate bedroom as we were three with our 18 year daughter who was promised by us to stay in a separate room and not with parents. We complained about that to the receptionist and we were told that the hotel manager is aware of such situation and the next morning they will try to find some suitable replacement once some guests check out. However, next morning they said that no suitable replacement is available but they are still searching. The same answer was for all next days until we departured. Upon departure I once again complained about the situation to the receptionist and asked if the manager is available to explain the situation and to find some solution in the given circumstances. Again, there was no manager available and there receptionist did not even want to discuss some refund as a compensation for the inconveniences caused (just a simple "sorry for the situation" from their side). Apparently there is a problem with the manager of this hotel (It is likely that there is one manager for all those Wyndham hotels in Miami Beach) and the overall management of bookings as well as the situations that happened to us.
A quality of the studio which was offered to us and which did not meet our expectations is a different story which I am not going to elaborate any further on this feedback.

Dear tomasrV6015AJ, I sincerely apologize for the numerous inconveniences you experienced during your recent stay at Astor Hotel. Your detailed feedback is both disheartening and concerning, and we regret that we fell short of meeting your expectations. I want to assure you that your experience does not align with the high standards we aim to uphold. The situation you encountered is truly regrettable, and I offer my deepest apologies for the disruption it caused to your New Year celebrations. It is clear that our communication and handling of the overbooking issue were inadequate, and for that, we are truly sorry. This was certainly not the experience we intended for you, and I understand the disappointment it caused. We take full responsibility for the lapse in communication and the inconvenience you faced. Additionally, we are reviewing our management procedures and communication protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we are committed to rectifying this situation to the best of our ability. Stayed here for what was suppose to be 4 nights had to cut it short because of their faulty fire alarm panel that would not stop going off every hour and for over 12 hours. Ended up leaving early because my children and I could not take the loud sound that would sound off every hour in our room..The photos on the trip advisor are absolutely not Accurate. Although they have a coffee machine in the lobby there was no coffee for couple of days even after I asked them. Upper management needs to invest in revamping this place and it wouldn’t hurt if they replaced coffee pods in lobby for guest. A little effort by them would go a long way. Alex the front desk manager was friendly and helpful but still didn’t make up for our fiasco which pretty much ruined 2 of our vacation days. Our kids were so tired from having to move hotels at 1am because since 10 pm we were being told that someone was going to come fix the fire alarm system. Had to fork out money for a room at 1am couple blocks down just for my family to be able to sleep a little while. We went back next morning to gather our belongings in the room and turns out the problem was still happening and they were still “waiting” in someone to fix the alarm. Total Nightmare
It’s very surprising that “Wyndham” would allow there name on such a run down property.

Short two night stay on the way home from visiting Cancun. Was looking forward to our stay but completely disappointed as on arrival we were told the elevator wasn’t working and although booked a twin bedded room was given a double on the third floor!
Bathroom towels torn, toilet bowl not flushing or filling properly. Staff not helpful or interested at all.
We changed rooms for our second night and found out that the elevator hadn’t been working for over a month! :-(
Would not recommend this place at all unless you pay a very cheap rate!

Firstly location is very good
Staff very helpful
Room spacious and clean
This is where the positives end, the building is extremely run down, we couldn’t watch the tv in our room, when we approached staff they were very apologetic explaining there is no cable tv. No black out blinds or curtains it was hard enough to sleep in such a-noisy environment without being woken with the light coming in.
A coffee machine in reception was available but told no coffee. There is no lounge area other than the reception area which is a thoroughfare for the 24hour party goers. An external area for lounging is cut off as apparently going through refurb. This is NOT the case it is in a rundown state through lack of investment and maintenance. The staff were very embarrassed when challenged on this.
The elevator didn’t work although this didn’t affect us on the first floor it did others
Don’t book this hotel expecting anything else but a hostel type accommodation at least then you won’t be disappointed.

1 out of 5! We arrived at midnight from uk. No one at the desk. Building in middle of works. Pool not open (claim they don’t advertise it but on pics & don’t answer q’s when asked in advance about this). Took prepayment from Booking.com on free cancellation so lost money on exchange in refund.
Friend then booked it. We arrived, elevator not working. Booked 2 beds. Room only had one and a tiny couch. No working lights. Key code to enter, which didn’t work and staff had access to. Filthy room. We checked out at 12.30am and luckily found Blue Moon hotel 1 street over. This place feels unsafe, avoid at all costs!!!

Sorry for the late reply. I booked directly through the website and it did not include a resort fee. Also you are correct about the bicycles, mini-fridge snacks and breakfast! The breakfast is downstairs in their dining room. It included items like freshly brewed Starbucks coffee and hot chocolate. All you can eat buffet of waffles and sandwiches! Also the mini fridge snacks are complementary :) I hope you enjoyed your stay as much as I did! Safe travels
