We stayed at The Villa Casa Casuarina and it is anything but a five star hotel. Now with that said it is in a great location on south beach if you are looking to be in the hustle and bustle of the area. When we got here we were checked in which is super awkward because it’s just a small make shift desk where everyone walks into the restaurant also. The room we stayed in was the Mosaic suite ($1100.00) and to say it’s over the top is an understatement. I posted pics to give all an idea. We had dinner on property and the service started out great until Hugh Jackman and his party arrived. The food quality was just okay. I had the the Caesar and the spinach/ricotta ravioli. My husband had the Salt and Boca which is enjoyed. The dessert was strawberry short cake which was some weird bright pink shaped gelatinous strawberry. Weird. You can’t use the pool until after midnight and only for a short time. The pool is also opened in the am but we had didn’t have time to take advantage of that. If you are looking for a notorious location this is for you ! If you are looking for quiet, five star service and elegant this is not the place.

We had the experience to spend nearly a week at Casa Casurina at spent the first night at the Signature Suite, 4 nights at Gianni's personal master bedroom "The Villa" and one night in Donnatella's room called the "Venus Suite". The staff could not have been more nice and I'm glad I ignored some of the negative reviews that have been posted. Being able to stay in Gianni's personal Master bedroom was really amazing considering he probably only lived there for about 3 years. All of the murals that he had designed are still on the walls including custom cabinetry that still looked brand new when it was constructed over 20 years ago. The signature suite is really amazing and has a very large living room and then a HUGE master bedroom with a very impressive Master Bath. It's located on the non-pool side which is much quieter. I would recommend this suite as it has nice views overlooking the ocean and around 1,500 square feet. Gianni's suite is around 1,100 square feet and doesn't have a living room to hang out in (that was converted to Gianni's lounge which is now a bar with a sushi restaurant). Just the historical aspect of staying in the room is well worth it. Probably the best suite at the hotel is Donnatell's room which is the Venus Suite. The room has a lot of light and overlooks the beach and ocean. All of the rooms overlook the famous pool area but be prepared to have music coming into the room until 11pm. There is also the Sushi restaurant which is located directly above the bed so some noise comes from there as well. If it wasn't for the noise that would be the suite I would recommend. We enjoyed eating at the hotel on 3 different occasions, 2 right by the pool and one in the dining room. The nice thing is that they give preference seating if you are staying at the hotel which is really nice. Probably the best part about staying there is being able to swim in one of the most famous pools in the country. We enjoyed laying by the pool which you can do until 4pm and then they allow you to enjoy it after midnight when everyone has left the dining room. I will always remember the experience of taking a nightly swim after midnight in a pool which I have always admired for the last 20 years. It was truly a one of a kind experience that I highly recommend everyone doing at least once. There are a total of 10 rooms at the hotel but pay the extra money and get one of the signatures suites or Gianna's Villas suite as it truly makes you enjoy the entire experience of the hotel.

Great experience, will likely return in the future. The service, food, room, and location were amazing!! Checked us in right away, carried our luggage up, were able to accommodate our request for the medallion suite the first night and the aviary suite the following night (make sure you book the appropriate level of room you're trying to get and specifically make a note about which room it is you want), they even had white truffle tasting menu available while I was there. I recommend booking your restaurant reservation ahead of time. They gave us the best seats in the restaurant right in front of the pool. The pool was beautiful and heated and they had Versace towels too. Pool closes at 4pm fyi and the beach is right across the street as well as many other food options but really the Gianni restaurant was the best. Order a drink too. The rooms were so beautiful, I can't wait to come back and try out more of the rooms

That beautiful lobby in the photos...does not exist. It's a restaurant. That beautiful pool area...it's a restaurant. And if you are brave enough to attempt pool access, which means barely sliding past restaurant patrons, pool access closes at 4PM (also, check in time coincidentally). Why 4PM? So they can put more tables out! There once was a bar upstairs I was told for hotel guests...its now a sushi restaurant.

You have to basically walk through a kitchen to get to the Mosaic and the room across from it. Your front desk, house keeping, concierge, basically only hotel employee is basically a hostess stand at the front.

Loud horrible music all night and if you are staying in the Aviary room, you are directly above the kitchen and it stinks.

Our room seemed moderately clean and the bathroom sink pipe was leaking badly causing the floor to puddle.

PLEASE spare yourself the pain of paying these exorbitant prices to stay here and just eat lunch there if you need to see the building.

What can we say; we decided to stay at the Villa Casa Casuarina (former Versace Mansion) for our 20 year wedding anniversary since we had dinner reservations there already!

What we found out, is that we have the most incredible gem in our back yard (we live in North Beach on Miami Beach for 51 years) and will be holding our business lunch meetings and out of town friends and family dinners there as regularly as possible not to mention as many date nights as we can fit in.

We stayed in the Empire Suite which was over the top beautiful and spent the afternoon at the pool enjoying caviar and Champaign, thought about taking a walk down Ocean Drive and both said, "why, look where we are, lets jut stay and enjoy the ambiance of the property!" Took a nap (wink, wink) and came down for an absolutely amazing dinner (the filet with white truffles was one of the most tender, I've ever had and their wine list was one of the most reasonably priced on the beach! Our waiter Ilan was very knowledgeable and made the evening even better! The pool side dining area is one of the best environments in all Miami Dade County! The side bar just off the main lobby makes you feel like you are somewhere in Europe! The Sushi Bar on the third floor is a great stop for a night cap!

We woke at 5:00 A.M. ran over to do the 6:00 A.M. Cross Fit on Alton Road and 9th Street and walked back straight east on 11th street for a wonderful breakfast (included with the stay) and enjoyed a relaxing morning at the property.

We had a special request that we felt was a 50/50 shot and Janina, the Operations Manager made it happen; we will continue telling everyone we know about our PERFECT experience in the best GEM on Miami Beach (in Miami Dade County) and truly look forward to our next moments on the property, including bringing our 13 and 9 year old daughters for a stay!

Cheers!

We stayed in the Venus Suite and the Villa Suite. Both suites were amazing! Upon arrival, our welcoming experience was outstanding. We were greeted by Francisco who promptly brought in our luggage and was impressively attentive to us during our entire stay. Nathalie, Denisse and Claudia were all an absolute dream! Their kindness and professionalism was without words! Anything we needed, these ladies were without delay in seeing to it we were accommodated. Andre, James and Enrique gave us impeccable, prompt service in the restaurant and bar. One early morning, we inquired as to where we could find American coffee. The early morning hostess was of zero assistance. We were getting ready to go out in South Beach when Jayson greeted us and asked if there was anything we needed. When he found out we were looking for coffee, he promptly opened the gates of the mansion and told us to come back in, he would get us whatever we needed. Before the restaurant was even open, he quickly served us coffee and even brought us toast. He continually checked on us to see if there was anything needed when no one else was to be found. His level of service was absolutely beautiful. The only issue we had, was on our last evening around 10pm, I requested a grilled cheese sandwich from the restaurant. The on duty restaurant manager was ridiculously arrogant and refused to do this for us. Denisse found out, she quickly made some phone calls, had the sandwiches made at another restaurant and even escorted us over to pick up our order. Absolute impeccable service. With the level of outstanding service we received, it has definitely increased our desire to return.

Booked for 3 nights but only stayed 2 nights as hugely disappointing experience.
Stayed in the Mosaic room and we had loud music coming from the courtyard until the early hours of the morning as they had a private event on. The room interior looked old and dated. When my husband complainted to the manger (Janina Goode) she was useless and blamed the poor service on her staff and told us its difficult to get good people - Shocking
Staff are rude and unhelpful.
Joseph Day is the General Manager of the Gianni`s, restaurant, he did look after us and thats why i gave this review a one star but honestly they should get a zero
The front of house forgot to reserve us a table so when i went down for dinner there was no table and he had to make me one up.
The food in fairness was delious and he did look after us that night.
This hotel is in the wrong hands as it could be so professionally run. It needs a fresh of new paint, and a different operations manger to run it.

The villa and staff are an absolute treat. Beautiful and charming all around. We stayed 2 nights and ate 1 breakfast and 1 dinner at he restaurant. Everything was delicious. They sent a bottle of presto to the room for us and catered to our multiple requests for ice, beach towels etc. Thanks to Sierra, Marcos and staff

We nearly backed out of staying because of the negative reviews, so glad we didn’t cancel! We had dinner at the villa a few years ago and wanted to stay a few nights. I had requested The Azure Suite but ended up with The Empire Suite and was not disappointed. I think all the rooms are over-the-top opulent and fun.

The breakfast was excellent. We had dinner there both nights, it is a bit pricey but was delicious. The restaurant stays very busy. The best part is exploring the mansion and feeling like you have it to yourself. We were in the pool in the middle of the night and every morning. It isn’t heated but I found it refreshing. Most of the staff were great and went out of their way to make our stay special.

I would suggest calling or emailing guest to let them know valet parking is currently a few blocks away. I knew from reading the reviews and called for directions ahead of time. The valet was wonderful and the villa sent someone for our bags. Location is unbeatable but we really didn’t want to leave the Villa. We were planning on this being a one-time stay but decided we will be back.

Yes, they have a bar...we had drinks while waiting to be seated for our reservation at the restaurant. I'm not certain how that would work, if you can make a reservation for the bar only, but it would be worth a call to them to ask.

Yes, they allow you to take photos in the common area as you are awaiting to be seated for your reservation, as well as the courtyard/ pool area & out in the front area of the home, prior to exiting, before leaving. We captured some really Great photos while we were there!
