Good value hotel, very central location. However, advise travellers to think carefully about visiting this area during Spring Break. Like a war zone at times, not safe at all. Advised by police to be in room by 9pm.. Fatal shooting on the night we arrived, outside hotel, clearly heard gunshots, crowd panic and sirens. Such a shame for the residents, staff and business owners. The most unsafe we have felt whilst travelling. The staff at the Tony did everything they could to advise and support, including moving our room away from Ocean Drive, but the location of the hotel is at the epicentre of the problem area.
We arrived at the hotel as part of our honeymoon. We were very early but they kept our bags and let us explore and also gave us an early check in. The receptionist was so lovely, gave us details of everything we needed in the hotel. We met the food and beverage manager, Anthony, who was exceptional in every way and a credit to the hotel. We arrived in our room to beautiful chocolate desserts and Prosecco- both were delicious! All staff were lovely and so helpful. The Concierge who took our bags when we were early and kept them was so helpful and friendly. Erasmo was great, he helped us to get to the shopping centre and with other amenities in the area. Darrell in the hotel bar was friendly and made us feel so welcome. The room itself was beautiful and modern yet so comfortable. Well air conditioned and had lots of tv channels for when we needed to rest after a busy day! Hotel is right beside the beach which is stunning!! Highly recommend this hotel to anyone in Miami.…
The location is perfect, so nothing to say about that (close to the beach and all the restaurants). The hotel has two "towers". The main entrance is on Collins Ave and the other is on Ocean Blvd. They are not connected so if you stay on the Ocean building you have to take your luggage down the sidewalk (the hotel staff will help). I didn't find this to be troublesome since the rooms at the Ocean building are newer. You do have some trade offs: Main building: lobby, restaurant, pool, probably quieter since it's a block away from Ocean Ocean building: newer room, a bit noisier, very small lobby (almost always unattended). We chose to stay at the Ocean building and it was great. The lobby door is always locked (open with your room key) so that wasn't a problem. Even with the noise from spring break, it wasn't bad, so I imagine any other time it should be just fine. The hotel staff were great. A couple hick ups: 1. late checkout is only until noon. 2. Fernando told us that we could pay half rate to stay until 6 pm if available only to find out the next day that this was not possible, it did not exist in the hotel policy. David was great, very helpful and always with a smile. Note: use the self park (parking structure a block away) and NOT the valet. It's cheaper and the valet takes forever to bring your car (it's an outside company that provides the service). The room was very spacious (room and bathroom) and clean. There were lots of drawers which was really nice since we like to organize everything from our suitcase. A couple points for the hotel: the toilet paper could be a little better quality. I do wish there would always be a person in the Ocean building lobby and have them check your keys, just for safety. Overall a very good experience.…
Comfortable rooms, nice amenities including a great rooftop pool, ideal location. Terrific value for the price. Even better with Oh Mexico Taco Shop around the corner and the recently re-opened News Cafe! We'll be back in Miami in December and we'll be staying here again!
Although the stay was fairly comfortable ultimately, it has some serious work to do for the rate they charge. We were initially booked into the other building....it is a disaster. The lobby consists of a desk with a security guard, dim lights, a creaky elevator and rooms that have air conditioners which thump irregularly on the ceiling. They were able to move us--to a smaller room--and charged us the same room rate that we were quoted for the larger "deluxe" room. I have called 3x to resolve this issue and am not allowed past the front desk clerk who has been unable to resolve and promised that "someone " will call back. That has not happened. The stay itself -once we were moved -was nice. The staff is in- experienced but hard working. The pool on the roof deck is lovely. The location is great.…
We booked the hotel for 4 nights and did not get off to a great start. We were in the annex on Ocean Drive which was not what we wanted and when we walked around to it the lift was not working so had to use the fire escape. The room was a great size but being on the top floor all we could hear was the A/C units on the roof so after a poor nights sleep we asked to be moved in to the main hotel and after a lot of discussion about prices as reservations were saying we wanted an upgrade but we just wanted to get some sleep agreed to move into the Collins building which was great. The main hotel on Collins is a lovely Art Deco hotel and is well worth a stay, the building is lovely and the roof top pool & bar are superb and very relaxing. The hotel team are very friendly and it was a great stay for the final 3 nights of our trip. I would recommend the hotel and we will return but not in the annex building which we feel lets the hotel down.…
The hotel is ideally placed on Collins Avenue in between Ocean Drive and Washington Avenue so great for the beach and all the restaurants on Ocean Drive and also the smaller food shops/cafes on Washington. Great concierge service - really helpful in recommending places to see and to eat The hotels is very clean, the rooftop pool is great - the rooms could do with some updating but do have all the added extras you would expect
The Tony Hotel has the perfect classic South Beach feel, but with clean and modern rooms and amenities, a beautiful rooftop pool with an ocean view, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the food and beverages are great. Our ocean view room (amazing view btw) was shockingly quiet at night when the windows were closed even with spring breakers all over the place a couple floors below.
I stayed here for 4 nights, and I can say I enjoyed my stay. I celebrated a birthday which the room included a complimentary bottle of champagne. Noise was fully controlled. No loud disturbances. Perfect. The parking set up is offsite down the block and youre given a card for access in and out. (If you lose the card there is a $100 fee.) You have to pay a fee for umbrellas on the beach $(22) although they charge a resort fee. Directly by the beach and strip. The rate was great for its location. I would recommend this hotel.
Art Deco style hotel close to South Beach and restaurants/bars. Beautiful suite with separate lounge area all with Art Deco furnishings. Hotel staff excellent, very helpful and friendly. Concierge very helpful in planning trips etc. Would certainly stay here again.
