Travelers' Choice
The Tony Hotel South Beach was originally designed and built in 1939 by L. Murray Dixon, a master architect responsible for many of the Art Deco buildings that line Collins Avenue and Ocean Drive. Dixon’s signature style, embodied in this hotel, included streamlined curves, jutting towers, window “eyebrows,” and neon. Originally named The Tiffany (and subsequently renamed The Hotel of South Beach), the hotel’s rooftop “Tiffany” spire is an historic landmark, towering majestically over Collins Avenue for more than 80 years. In 1985, legendary placemaker Tony Goldman visited South Beach for the first time and fell in love. He saw past the blight and dilapidated buildings that plagued South Beach at the time and envisioned the American Riviera. He spent the next 27 years of his life leading the renaissance of South Beach, fighting to preserve its history while also envisioning its future as a pedestrian destination where people from all walks of life could enjoy its natural beauty in an inclusive community. Tony Goldman bought and methodically restored the hotel, among other properties, and in 1998 enlisted fashion designer Todd Oldham to infuse the hotel with the rich colors, shapes, and textures emblematic of the Art Deco era. The renaming of the hotel as The Tony Hotel South Beach in 2022, on the tenth anniversary of his passing, was a fitting tribute to Tony Goldman by his family, who still own and operate the hotel to this day.

This is arguably one of the best hotels in South Beach, especially for the price. It’s close to everything and more – steps from the beach, cafes, shopping, and more. The hotel includes its own rooftop pool and bar, extremely friendly and courteous staff, and very clean facilities. The aesthetic is charming and well-styled. It has a cute lobby bar and outdoor patio surrounded by palm trees and lush foliage that provide privacy and tranquility from the busy tourist areas nearby. I would highly recommend it. Staff shout-outs to: David, Melanie, Amanda, Domingo, Fernando, Jonathan & Masma. I hope I’m not forgetting anyone, but everyone made this trip extra special for my 86-year-old grandmother and me.

We arrived at the hotel as part of our honeymoon. We were very early but they kept our bags and let us explore and also gave us an early check in. The receptionist was so lovely, gave us details of everything we needed in the hotel. We met the food and beverage manager, Anthony, who was exceptional in every way and a credit to the hotel. We arrived in our room to beautiful chocolate desserts and Prosecco- both were delicious! All staff were lovely and so helpful. The Concierge who took our bags when we were early and kept them was so helpful and friendly. Erasmo was great, he helped us to get to the shopping centre and with other amenities in the area. Darrell in the hotel bar was friendly and made us feel so welcome. The room itself was beautiful and modern yet so comfortable. Well air conditioned and had lots of tv channels for when we needed to rest after a busy day! Hotel is right beside the beach which is stunning!! Highly recommend this hotel to anyone in Miami.

I had another great stay at the Tony! For me, it's a home away from home. The entire staff is helpful and polite, especially Robin, Domingo, David, and Fernando. The room and bed were very comfortable. The lobby area and porch are very nice to relax. The rooftop pool deck is beautiful with a gorgeous view of South Beach. Many great restaurants are within walking distance and the beach is just a couple of minutes away. I'll be back!

Loved the atmosphere. Staff was polite and helpful. The location was perfect, just a short walk to the beach. The roof top pool and bar was a great place to hang out with friends and family. I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying at South Beach

Just got back from a 3 day getaway and was very happy with my stay at the Tony! The location is great, you can walk to everything. The beach is right there and the rooftop pool looks out to the ocean. Beach access with towels being provided was great! The hotel was very clean and had a nice Miami vibe. The staff was wonderful and housekeeping came in daily to make beds and refresh towels. Well done, thank you!

I rarely write reviews but feel that recent negative reviews on this hotel need called out. I am staying here with my family from 9 April for 3 nights. We are staying in the smaller building next door to the main hotel. This stunning Art Deco hotel is superb. The location, staff, amenities, cleanliness and roof top pool/bar with beach views are without fault. I fail to see how any of the recent negative reviews of this hotel are in any way justified. Some people should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for trying to damage the reputation of this hotel and its hard working staff. I thoroughly recommend you stay here.

The rooms are clean and decorated to reflect the golden age of Miami. Enjoyed our stay. Free beach chairs and towels are great. Only complaint was that they let people reserve seats at the pool and then there were none available for us to use. They shouldn’t have reservations on community chairs. There is a pay upgrade section if someone wants to hold seats.

First time in Miami, and this turned out to be the absolute best spot for us to enjoy South Beach; we wanted a walkable location that had style and history. This staff appreciates the magic (and hard work) of making you feel welcome. Plus, a beautiful rooftop pool!

The Tony Hotel of South Beach is a real Miami Art Deci gem with much of the original hotel restored very sympathetically. It’s in a very central spot in Collins Avenue one block from Ocean Drive - although there is a separate annex building actually on Ocean Drive. My room was one of their best with a separate living room and bedroom. Enormous amount of space. On the downside in common with many reviews the hotel could do with a refresh - everything looks a little tired. However as I had read other reviews I wasn’t surprised by this. Bathroom was small but well spec’d with a large jacuzzi bath and overhead rain head shower. Breakfast buffet was basic but I had a $100 food allowance to use up so gave it a try. Nothing wrong with what was on offer - just a little limited. Probably would have eaten elsewhere if not for the allowance. I was a bit worried being right on Collins Avenue that it would be very noisy but wasn’t too bad. Was more disturbed by the room directly over mine - you could hear the floorboards creak when someone was walking about in there!!! Would I stay again - probably not but only because there are so many hotels in South Beach I would want to try another one. Would recommend to anyone who wants a real taste of Miami Art deco in the centre of town with a pool.

We visited the Tony Hotel for a three-day stay in south beach and loved everything. It’s a lovely and beautiful art deco hotel with professional and very friendly staff. Our room (and everything else) was exceedingly clean with crispy clean bedsheets and lovely art deco interior. The hotel has a wonderful location, quiet but right in the action. In just 2 minutes, via the ocean drive directly on the beach. I can absolutely recommend the hotel and will be happy to return to it. In addition, valet parking was courteous and hassle-free.
