I wouldn’t even rate this a 1/5, it deserves a 0 and shouldn’t even qualify as a hotel. The pool is run down and dirty, there was blood in the bathroom sink at the pool, stains on all furniture. The staff was wearing see-through clothing, rude on phones texting and very unprofessional. The drinks had no alcohol in them and tasted like they had old juice added. We were in the hotel for a matter of 10 minutes waiting to check in and felt so unsafe during the entire experience that we contacted our booking agent, canceled and changed hotels before we even saw the room, which I’m sure was just as disgusting as the rest of the place. I would STAY AWAY from The Dream South Beach, website is a total catfish.
My wife and I travelled to South Beach for our 10 year anniversary and had an amazing time at Dream South Beach. The location is amazing! It's right on the beach, and you receive free towels and a chair. The umbrella is only $21 with your Dream discount. We had a perfect sunset cocktail at the rooftop bar as well. The rooms are perfect and were cleaned spotless everyday and getting back from the beach. The staff always had a smile on their face and were happy to assist any way they could. This place can't be beat. 10 out of 10!
Look at the photos of my $200+ per night room and decide for yourself if you would like to spend a night in this beat-up tired room. Pictures are worth thousands of words, after all. The staff was friendly and the location excellent but that is IRRELEVANT when the room is falling apart.
Pros: our room was clean, housekeeping did a nice job daily supplying fresh towels and making the bed, food from Naked Taco (their restaurant) was delicious. Steps from the beach, restaurants, and shops. I want to give a major shout out to the two employees who helped us on our last night. Long story short, my wife’s purse fell off the bed and all her cards went under the bed. If you know how hotel beds are, it was near impossible to retrieve it. Two employees helped moved the (very heavy) bed so she could retrieve her license and we could get on our flight the next morning. They were super gracious and understanding. Cons: didn’t love the view out our window (of busy collins ave) but not really the hotel’s fault. Next time I’d pay more for a room on the other side. It was loud at night (to be expected) but I had no trouble sleeping with ear plugs in. Rooftop pool is kinda small. Overall my wife and I had a great trip!…
This hotel is in an excellent location near many restaurants, bars, stores, and close to the beach. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The pool are on the roof is fun and has a decent bar. The restaurant in the lobby is decent also.
We (adult couple) stayed at Dream for 3 nights over new years eve for our 20th anniversary and had truly the worst experience we've ever had in a hotel (we have travelled extensively). Arrived late in evening on Fri 30th Jan and started out okay, staff were friendly and we were quickly checked in. We did have to circle the block a few times in order to stop and unload the car/hand off to the valet but understandable on a Friday in South Beach. The receptionist explained the hotel has two buildings and we had been allocated a room in the other building (separated from reception by a courtyard) and directly above a club/bar called Naked Taco. We did extensive research before booking and nowhere on the website does it mention that some of the rooms are above a club/bar - something which would definitely have prevented me from booking but we tred to be open minded and hoped for some solid sound proofing. The room was directly above the club/bar and two rooms down from the doubles doors which allowed access to the club/bar - these doors were never locked, meaning bar patrons were able to wander freely in the hotel corridors. Everything was dreadful - the bed was agonising to sleep on, the sliding doors to the toilet did not meet with a gap of approx 1 inch (a rubber bumper was missing) and the biggest issues, noise was AWFUL. Absolutely zero sound proofing. The club/bar was very loud and the noise carried on until approx. 3 am despite advertising closing at 1am. Thought we may finally get some sleep then, even with the painful bed but at 5am, banging started in the bar below again as the staff started arriving for the breakfast service - in no way were they quiet, lots of banging and crashing!! To add insult to injury, one of the staff wandered out of the afore mentioned double doors and had a long, loud conversation on her phone - walking up and down outside the room. After this terrible night, we approached reception indicating our dissatisfaction - given that this room cost $500 per night. The receptionist gave a half hearted apology and moved our room to the main building. No compensation was offered but mainly we were keen to just have a good nights sleep, we were not looking for "extras". We packed up our cases and moved over, hoping for the best as the toilet doors closed and the bed did not feel like it was made from barb wire. Later that day after a shower and nap - trying to recuperate from the sleepless night and prepare for new years eve (also our anniversary), we woke to a water leak from the air conditioning. The leak was a HUGE puddle, right in the middle room - completely unavoidable and very slippery. Maintenance took one look and said it could not be quickly resolved and we'd need to move room again. This would be our 3rd room in less than 24 hours. Reception did not bother to apologise this time and tried to give us a room in the other building again, we refused and we was given a room on the 2nd floor of the main building where we were met with familiar issues....the toilet doors did not close and the bed was actively painful. We asked to speak to a manager and was advised someone would be available in the morning. We had another sleepless night courtesy of the terrible bed and incessant noise from the bar - it did not close until 330/4am. On new years day, we were able to speak to a manager (Antz Augustin) who was the only shining star of this horror show. He was very understanding and apologetic and was (rightly) appalled at the receptionist attitude and our treatment/experience. He did his best to mitigate our experience and compensate us but sadly there is no way to make up for no sleep, stress, panful backs and lost time packing/moving rooms on our special new years anniversary. We arrived here blissed out from a week in Jamaica and left haggard and baggy eye'd. I do expect a certain amount of noise during the evening/nights in South Beach, we have visited before. However, researching hotels with good reviews and no noise complaints should have led to a decent stay and it did not. The hotel website should be transparent about the potential for being issued a room directly above a bar and definitely should consider some sound proofing between floor and the halls. The hotel appears to have valued style over substance, it looks quite cool in the pics online but in real life was small and dark. The clock/phone charger did not work, no room to unpack etc. a myriad of small issues. On reflection, there are a large number of positive 5* reviews for this hotel which are written by "users" who never wrote a review before or after the ones completed for Dream South Beach. Users who do not have a genuine photo (vague landscape pics typically), name drop specific staff, the same ones mentioned over and over. You may note, the reviews written by genuine, regular users do not routinely name drop in the way. Interesting I think and a little suspicious. Anyhoo, we would recommend you select any other hotel and give this one a miss - unless you want to have zero sleep and a bad back.…
The photos on their website represent a beautiful modern hotel. We arrived to a smelly, extremely small room and run down hotel. No coffee or tea in the room. Mini fridge upon request. No where to put your clothes. If I could have I would have moved to another hotel, but unfortunately I prepaid. Not a 4 star more like a 2 star hotel or a hostel.
While being at the pool, I was greeted with such a welcoming face. Justin was so helpful when checking us into the area and assured his safety and we’ll gesture. Cheers Justin thank you for being help
Had such a wonderful time during my stay here. The rooftop is gorgeous and the pool is very nice. The workers were really kind and courteous.
