We had a front (ocean facing) room. This hotel is in the middle of the action on Ocean Dr. We stayed Friday night after our cruise got in. The staff was very helpful & let us check in early in the day. We went to bed @ 10:30pm. The music outside was loud, but the room was well insulated & didn’t keep us awake at all. Great location, walking distance to many restaurants. Gorgeous beach right across the street. Stylishly renovated. Check-in is next door @ Breakwater Hotel. A/C works well. Coffee & bottled water in room & nice breakfast included (set up in Breakwater lobby)

This hotel is located right on Ocean Drive but is next to a busy out door dance club. If you're a light sleeper you will hear the music until the wee hours of the morning. The other thing to be aware of is you check in at the Breakwater and drag your bags through a restaurant and ice cream parlor to get to your room. Plus side is the waffle cone smell is good.

A one off stay on Ocean Drive to satisfy my husband’s wish to see the Art Deco Hotels, which are impressive. The Edison hotel is everything expected - the staff were very helpful especially Pablo. Food as usual in the U.S plentiful and while eating watching the cars and scantily clad females passing by. Another life from that of the UK. Only point against this hotel is the lack of sound proofing which wasn’t around in the twenties and being concrete difficult to block out the outside noises.
All in all an experience. Thanks to all at the Edison Hotel

Booked the Hotel Edison for a special holiday however on arrival discovered that the Edison doesn't really exist! You checkin at the Hotel Breakwater, all the room keys say Breakwater and reception is in the Breakwater. The Edison's lobby has been turned into an ice cream parlour - watch out for the staff setting off the fire alarm as they attempt to make/burn waffles at 11pm, then 4am! Fire Dept of Miami beach are regular visitors to the Edison/ice cream parlour. Banging tunes are played every night until 4am so be prepared for the noise levels to keep you awake. Personally, I feel we were misold by Expedia who really should be selling this hotel as The Breakwater.

Worst hotel I have been at in a while (and I travel very often). First of all, the elevator to our floor was in the middle of an ice cream store that’s next to the hotel. After checking in, passing there with the luggage while people were ordering ice cream was simply ridiculous.
Although we booked a “Superior” room, there was absolutely nothing superior about it. Room 435. There was no bathroom door, so that if you have to go to the bathroom you don’t get a bit of privacy. Furthermore, the shower was horrible: the pole that holds the shower handle would come off the wall as soon as you touch it (even just to take the shower handle and wash yourself). Then, there was barely any water pressure. The shower would take way too long to drain so water comes up to your ankles while showering. Last but not least, it was impossible to find a middle point between boiling hot and cold water: either one or the other, but nothing in between.
It is shameful that such an hotel retains a 4-star status.
Plain horrible.
PS: a couple of good thing though, for the sake of honesty: A. The staff was very kind; B. The sound insulation (considering that downstairs there is a bar pumping music until late at night) is incredible. You close the window and barely hear anything.

This hotel is on the beach. It’s appealing to young hipsters that play music at all hours. Not a quiet retreat if you’re over 50 and looking for peace. But —the staff was gracious and professional from arrival to departure. The guys greeting us outside were so great, we overlooked the things that annoyed us (here is a list of the annoyances: 1) they charge $15 to use the spa space. It’s not included in the $49 per day resort fee, 2) the hotel is modern, our room turned out to be a real mess because there are NO drawers in the dresser, nightstand or desk. Everything was just stacked on the floor. Not tidy. If you’re traveling alone, or just for a weekend, this may not bother you. The location is good: coffee shop and liquor store across the street.

This hotel is well located, but like almost everything is South Beach is old and this particular one badly mantained. I stayed for 1 night and the room got flooded with water from the bathroom. This made me wake up and change the room which affected my vacation and even when they changed my room and promised to refund me part of what I paid for the ruin, this never happened and when expedia reached to them they just denied everything.

There are hundreds of better options in South Beach Check other places and their reviews.

I booked this hotel due the location and reviews. I got scared when I arrived and noticed that the check in actually was in the hotel beside which probably belongs to the same owner. After proceding with check in we dragged our luggage through the bar that separtes both buildings and then passing over the gellatto shop we finally reached an elevator in a dirty corner. Honeslty, I could not believe what my eyes were seeing. Room was ok, not modern neither super clean as shown in the pictures. Bed was comfortable and very well made. |Biggest issue is that the hotel is beside ESPN bar/hotel and they host MASSIVE parties on the weekend, the hotel has double glass windows but we could only sleep after 6am! after the first night awake we went downstairs for the amazing included breakfast - another shock! all very dirty, old and looking disgusting. we basically ran to the CVS 2 blocks behind and got some bread and mik - basically had breakfast in the room during all our stay. in booking.com they show a picture of a room for breakfast with all food looking nice and clean but, the real area for breakfast is in the bar they have downstairs with plastic cups/cutllery and food from the second world war. The fruit Loops dispensar had more hair on top that a WC floor. location wise was amazing since literally in front of the beach - pool was very small but decent, very refreshing after the beach. again, I would never stay in this hotel again due the noise, lack of maintenance and cleanning and the scary breakfast!

We stay there for a night only, coming back from a cruise so pretty tired the noise didn’t not really bother us ...(probably because we knew we’d stay only for a night.
Check in at 4pm we arrived early morning, we enjoyed the 2 hours free bike ride and they offered to keep our luggages as well. Very nice and accommodating personal. They provided beach towels, chairs and parasol free of charge.
I would recommend if you are not a light sleeper, otherwise forget about it.

This place is fabulous. The rooms are beautiful and the pool is super cool. They have a kid and an adult pool. Also, super close to the beach and they have a private area for just hotel guest. I would definitely go back.
