First of all, I understand this is Miami. Been in town 8 or 9 times both vacay and work so am familiar with the price level etc. But still. The room was 200 per night which in Miami isn’t that much but it’s still quite a lot (in many other places you get a very decent stay with 200 a night). The vibe of the place was weird: hostel meets drug house. If you’re in to that no problem and that did not buther me. What did was these 2 things: 1) the air cons they have are so old that the noise they make won’t let you sleep, not even with earplugs on (tried) 2) some of the stuff are incapable to even basic behavior: they don’t even say hi. All and all don’t recommend.
The morning coffee is crazy expensive, $4 for 12oz black coffee! No washer or dryer. Phone number to call this business, never works (305-531-2727). It's not bc of stormy weather either. The wifi our room received was unreliable @ best. Be sure to clear your bed and lamp/ledge area completely if you request a sheet change. 2x I had things removed and once never recovered. Rooms are insanely humid, towels never dry. Lockers are not secured to the wall (major liability), and some didn't even lock bc they're broken.
The place was pleasant but the experience wasn’t the one I expected. The door of our room broke at 3am and we were stuck outside with no mean to get in. We had to sleep in an other room without any of our meds, pyjamas etc. The manager said we would have a compensation but never received it. Worst, a 50$ deposit have been debited from my account (while in every other hostel I went, they only took a bank imprint) and they never gave it back. It has been almost one month, and they didn’t replied to my email or phone call, and my bank can’t do anything for me. I want my money back.
I had high hopes for this hostel but on my arrival I was brought down to reality. There were a few issues, from the girl on check-in not being engaging or friendly at all seemed more interested in her phone & could only conjure up one word reply’s to my questions. Our room seemed half done, this is a hotel that freehand has only half renovated, the 4 bed dorm had great beds but the bathroom had not been renovated since the 70’s. What Can I say about the air conditioning even on the lowest setting it was like a train was travelling through the room the whole night, I had to wear ear plugs & even then I found it difficult to sleep. The wifi was also nonexistent in our room to not have wifi in room in 2022 is unacceptable I had to regularly go to the main reception area just to send a few messages. The outdoor area was nice with a cool bar and swimming pool, that was the only redeeming feature of the property.…
Beautiful place in a great location! Friendly staff, Eric was so amazing and great environment all around, felt right at home! Rooms are very spacious and beds are a good size. Conveniently located restaurants and so close to the beach!!
Freehand truly was the ideal place for my friends and I to get away and enjoy Miami Beach. Everyone at Freehand was always so accommodating and provided us with everything we needed so that the time we spent here was as relaxing as can be. Special shout-out to Eric for always answering our questions and making us feel at home. Can not wait to come back to this place for another magical getaway.
Stayed for a week here with friends and had a great experience! The staffing was very friendly and helpful especially Eric. Clean, great pool and location was perfect. Would highly recommend to others!
Had a great time here at Freehand!! It was perfect for our getaway here at Miami Beach, very close to the beach and lots of places nearby to go to, including the Shaker and 27! The staff here was always so helpful and nice, Eric especially made our trip that much more amazing. We will definitely be back again to visit!!
Do not be deceived by the photos on their website. This place is a hostel, not a hotel (yet they will still charge upwards of $600/night for some of their rooms). They clearly took over a decrepit old motel, put some new paint on it and a few neon signs and called it "new." It is dingy in person and smells like cat pee, or chemical cleaner used to mask the smell of cat pee. If you don't care much about your lodging than this is fine, I supposed, but it's worth it to pay a little extra and stay somewhere else with better hygiene practices. The staff is also incredible rude and makes it very clear that they are *extremely* inconvenienced by even the smallest ask, like a new room key, a toothbrush or a luggage rack (they don't have either of the last two things). Food and drinks are OK, so do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else and just visit here for drink one night.…
The staff are super helpful, the space felt like I was on an island resort. Great pool, fun people and amazing food at the restaurant! Great location to pick up the trolley that takes you around Miami Beach. I look forward to visiting again.
