Stayed here for one night only. We had the suite on the second floor, their "best room" as the person at check in told me. I have stayed at "boutique" hotels before in South Beach, and was not sure what to expect. I have seen some cruddy rooms. However, this room was VERY nice and roomy. Living room with pull put couch, a seprate bedroom, and washroom that's accessible from both rooms. A small hallway when you enter. Nice big windows overlooking Ocean Drive and the beach. The room is comfy, modern, and lots of room. Nice washroom. However, two small things would make this room much better. There are no locks on the washroom doors, and there are doors on two sides -- from the living room and the bedroom. I am sure many people have been "walked into" while in the washroom. Even some small cheap eye and socket locks from a hardware store would work. Also, the bedroom should have a door to separate it from the rest of the suite. This would also be a fairly simple addition. There is not a lot of privacy if you are two couples, or even a family, in the suite. Reception was very nice nice and helpful. The location is superb of course, right on Ocean Drive. Breakfast was slow service, but it was busy, and the food was good. A full hot breakfast was included for all 4 of us. There was a festival on the beach that blocked our access to the water, which kind of sucked. We had to walk up to 10th St (3 blocks) to get to the beach. Not the hotel's fault of course. The Irish Pub beside the hotel was very fun, although my memory there is a bit hazy for some reason. Overall a very nice stay and experience at this hotel.…
Our stay at the Cavalier was part of a package that included direct flights, room, breakfast, and beach chairs. We stayed 4 nights and were extremely satisfied! The hotel is 3-story, art deco building on a section of street closed to traffic and facing a park. The beach is less than a 2-minute walk away, across the park. Very convenient to come and go as you please. The hotel is also walking distance to a lot of things, including restaurants, bars, and shopping. There are bikes for rent in the park and at other bike stations just a block away. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The hotel staff were extremely attentive to our requests and helpful with suggestions and tips about activities and excursions. The restaurant is operated by a different company, but they offer a discount for hotel guests. We definitely recommend this hotel!…
Check in staff was great but wait staff could be nicer. Did not make eye contact or smile at all, they looked annoyed the whole time. Hotel itself is very nice as was our room. Very clean and the bed was comfortable, we were up on the third floor facing the ocean which was a great view. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and entertainment and the beach is across the street. Had to park in the parking garage around the corner for $20 for 24 hours. Easy walk to the hotel from there.
This is an excellent hotel right in the middle or the art deco area right on the front of south beach. The interior is excellent, from the reception area, to the lift and stairwells and all the way to the rooms. Our room was a little noisy in the morning from the garbage trucks etc and the breakfast included isn’t really good; But other that this it is an excellent hotel and we would stop there again.
We visited this pace for NYE2023. Gray location right in Ocean Drive. Well appointed rooms. We stayed in room 305. Large clean bed. Spacious bathroom. Separate storage / dressing area. Window towards Ocean Drive Great breakfast service with a lot of choices on freshly prepared breakfast. Warm and credibly reception. Would like to call out Nareen who helped us arrange a trip to Everglades. Well priced and fun. Overall 5 star experience.
Cavalier South Beach Hotel on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach has everything that you need in a place to stay. I have been impressed with their level of customer service and everything that they offer here. Good overall experience every time I have been here.
If I'm honest this was not the hotel I intended to book for this trip, but the ones I know were either full or ridiculously priced, and the Cavalier seemed to offer a decent location/amenities/price combination for the couple of nights I was here. Well, forget my initial doubts, I was in fact really impressed by the hotel and will come back with some enthusiasm. The location is excellent, in the art deco area of South Beach, directly on Ocean drive. This is one of the prettiest parts of Miami beach to walk around and one very well equiped in small hotels, restaurants, bars, etc. My room was beautifully decorated, with a tropical feel, dark woods, and colourful highlights due to contemporary colourful reinterpretations of classic portraits. Bed was very comfortable, and whilst I usually prefer rooms with bathtubs, the showerroom was very nice with dark woods and golden mosaic highlights and a very good shower. Toiletries were good quality and generously stocked and towels were fluffy and nice. There is an empty mini fridge which was great as I was there during very rough weather and this allowed me to stock up on food till tropical storm Nicole moved away (the restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner for a couple of days as a result of the weather). Like many (most?) Miami beach hotels, the Cavalier charges an annoying resort fee (around $25/day I think), I hate those, but at least in this case, you know what you are paying for: you get a simple but nice breakfast every morning: a choice of one dish (fried or scrambled eggs with one meat, scrambled eggs with vegetables, pancakes, or yoghurt and fruit, alongside coffee or tea). You get access to beach chairs at a nearby cabana on the beach (Esteban's about 5 minutes' walk - basically the hotel is at the corner of 13th and the beach is off 15th). You get the towels from the hotel itself. Umbrellas cost extra if you want them. You also get decent internet and coffee and tea in the lobby all day. Personnel was very nice, especially the young man who checked me in and again checked me out a couple of days later (didn't get his name but he was nice, helpful, and friendly). The hotel is small. ground floor + 2 levels up, the building itself is very pretty and well renovated, the lobby is nice and pleasant and when the weather is good, the restaurant also has tables outside on ocean drive. The bottom line: this is a real boutique hotel, not one of those 200 room places which call themselves boutique just to claim to be edgy. It is small, friendly, individual and has personality and a decor that makes a statement. It has the limitations of a small and relatively old hotel (so no swimming pool, no balconies, etc unlike the big modern buildings you find a bit further up the beach) but also the charm and friendliness that those big hotels often lack and it was beautiful, comfortable, and very well located. The free breakfast is a big bonus and I appreciated the empty mini fridge too. I'll surely be back!…
Loved staying at this hotel!!!! Very friendly staff, amazing service and so much history at the hotel!! We booked our trip on Expedia and we are we’re happy living there! The views and the staff are amazing.
Very nice hotel that is clean and very well kept. Excellent location on ocean drive. Staff was very polite and housekeeping superb. Very relaxing stay. Only reason I did not rate the Cavalier perfect was because of the $28 per night resort fee. That fee is not uncommon in south beach and wouldn’t be an issue except that it wasn’t disclosed when I booked and paid for my stay. I booked the stay on Sam’s club travel so not really sure which to blame for the omission. Would definitely consider staying there again however because it is a really nice place.
This is a beautiful Art Deco Hotel on Ocean Drive. Very reasonably priced for the area and our price included the Resort Tax which gave us beach towels and sun loungers on the beach each day. The sun loungers have the option to add a parasol for $20 per day if you wish, but as we were there in October and the weather was 28°c we were okay with a parasol. The hotel is 1930s in style and this must be taken into consideration, if you are expecting a modern 5* hotel, you will be disappointed, this hotel offers a 5* service and is very clean with spacious rooms. We would have loved a sea view room but these are limited, if we had paid more I'm sure a sea view would have been no issue. Breakfast was included in our price and although limited it was perfectly adequate for the price we paid. I enjoyed pancakes and adding bacon was not an issue. The breakfast team are friendly and attentive. Eddie on the front desk is a star, such a polite and friendly young man. He told us about the many original features of the hotel and that the lift is original and of importance to the city of Miami.....he clearly enjoys his job and is proud of the building he works in. All in all, we were impressed as we like small quirky hotels and try to avoid big corporate hotels, we will definitely be back. I almost forgot, happy hour 5-7pm where reduced priced drinks and food is available, we had the drinks but not the food, however, we saw other tables getting food and it was a decent portion for the price. It's also nextdoor but one from The Carlisle which was used in The Birdcage. Lovely area, lovely people, lovely hotel.…
