My wife and I stayed at the Avalon for a short vacation on Miami Beach. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Avalon.

The main reasons I chose this hotel initially was the location (right across from the beach), the fact that they provide beach towels and beach chairs, and the cost.

The service was exceptional. All the workers there were very friendly, helpful, and flexible from the front desk reception (George), to the folks serving breakfast, the manager & waiter (Alejandro) at the hotel restaurant, and the cleaners.

I didn't expect much from the advertised breakfast but it was very fresh, tasty, and filling each day.

I also liked that the hotel restaurant is not open every day/night so that we were able to sit out on the patio for breakfast/lunch or whenever we wanted to take a break. The overall atmosphere at the hotel was more relaxed and subdued compared to the neighboring hotels.

Note that the rooms in this hotel are on the small side as this is a historic, art-deco hotel. This was fine with us but don't expect large rooms like most modern, newly built hotels.

Some of the negatives of this hotel are that the walls are very thin and unfortunately we were unlucky to have very noisy and inconsiderate neighbors. Our first night we had a neighbor with a deep, loud voice and later that night another neighbor above us suddenly started playing music loudly at 4 am. The second night another neighbor thought it was a good idea to crank music at 11:30pm which seemed to come through the walls and bathroom vent which amplified the sound like a speaker. The front desk tried to call the room but the guests would not answer. The front desk would not go to the room to tell them to turn down or stop the music so I'm assuming that is the hotel policy. I don't blame the hotel for guest behavior and appreciate the hotel moving us to a different room that night and the following morning we moved our belongings to that room as well. We didn't have any problem the remaining nights.

The hotel gives bottled water each day as part of the resort fee but they are the mini-ones which was pretty lame. Other hotels have ice water dispensers in their lobbies for the guests and I hope Avalon does this in the future as we would most likely look to stay there again.

We had a pleasant stay. The hotel adheres to all covid safety. The rooms are sanitized, staff is masked at all times, and the staff is continuously cleaning. The room is basic, and comfortable. Beach chairs and towels are provided. The staff is amazing!! Welcoming, and helpful. Continental breakfast was fine, limited by covid. The coffee was good and the breakfast staff was very accommodating. I would recommend the hotel if you are looking for a reasonable nice place on South Beach. The location is terrific.

The challenges for hotels and restaurants on Ocean Drive since Covid hit, have been monumental. The drive is closed to vehicular traffic from a half block away, and parking can be a bit difficult when you have physical mobility limitations.

The Avalon is a small and older hotel, which has maintained it's historic charm throughout the development of the monstrous "brass and glass" hi-rise development of the Miami waterfront.

The rooms are smaller (think 1950's and 60's) with comfortable beds and pristine linens. Who goes to Miami Beach to sit in a hotel room anyway? Towels and soap/shampoo are plentiful. Beach chairs and towels are provided for you free of charge.

Breakfast, which is included in your reservation price is a choice of 2 lunch boxes. We found this odd, but realized you could take your breakfast box anywhere you wanted, beach, room, terrace or indoor dining room (on white table cloths). People leaving early for flights, took their lunchbox to go. Convenient concept actually.

The staff are warm and friendly throughout the hotel...and very helpful. Avalon has managed to keep a standard of exceptional service throughout some very difficult times.

If you stay at the Avalon, make reservations to eat at their restaurant "A Fish Called Avalon". The cuisine is superb, and you may choose to dine indoors or out, on their beautifully lit terrace or 'street arbor' on Ocean Drive. The food is outstanding!

Mr Cruize the Brazilian-born guitarist and singer provides an amazing backdrop to dinner. He pulled out all the stops on our 2nd night there and his playing was magical...especially his own compositions.
Looking around the dining area there were people of all ages and from all over the world absolutely captivated by his amazing talent.

Avalon is a gem of a hotel and I personally hope it never changes. I would however like to see the elevator fixed soon!

My wife and I could not have been happier in this iconic little gem. From the genuine warm welcome at reception desk each and every day to the impeccably clean accommodations. We were impressed with the newly renovated room with beach front views. The Restaurant, Fish called Avalon on the property may honestly be the best food and service I ever experienced. I say this having lived in nyc all my life, so I like to think I know a bit about great restaurants.

The complimentary breakfast included was good and just right for your morning start.

Highly recommend and look forward to my return in May.

Thank you to the entire team of the Avalon Hotel for a memorable experience!

The overall experience definietly exceeded our expectations. Location was wonderful and the beach was just across the street. Very good breakfast - wide choice, plenty of fruit, vegetables, eggs, diary, cereal, yoghurt, variety of bread types, cupcakes, croissant etc. The rooms are simple and the view (except for the rooms facing Ocean Drive) are not spectacular. There are noisy appliances outside and walls are thin so be prepared and take ear plugs with you. The interiors clearly need some refurbishment but they are clean. The staff was very friendly. Due to its fancy location, the hotel sometimes rents its interiors to film crews. On the last day we were asked to behave very uiet in the lobby and had to wait quite log for check out in order to fit between cuts in the lobby which was not comfortable and made us feel almost like we were intruders. This should not happen in the lobby, especially not a couple of days ahead of Superbowl, when the hotel was full of guests . Nevertheless, our overall experience was good and we can recommend this hotel for a short stay in Miami Beach.

I stayed at the Avalon Hotel for 4 nights and it was a really great stay! The check in was completely contactless with a great phone app which allowed me access to my room. I booked because of the great location and it was super convenient to get around. Given how upbeat the location is the noise was not an issue at all. The staff at both the hotel and the restaurant were super friendly and accommodating. It was a really tranquil place to return to after a day on the beach or night on the town! The restaurant is AMAZING! And has a great feel with live music. The hotel offered breakfast each day which was perfect to grab on the go or have a sit on the terrace.

I will 100% stay again and would highly recommend to my peers.

If you're looking for a South Beach, Ocean Front experience, the Avalon Hotel has it all. A 1940's art deco classic on the corner of 7th & Ocean, the hotel faces the Atlantic Ocean and all the beauty that palm trees, sand and ocean can offer. The rooms are clean, distinctive and comfortable. 58 rooms and suites nestled on three floors, the Avalon has been serving South Beach since 1945. With the equally wonderful, Avalon by The Sea restaurant, the staff is there to see to your every need. Friendly, helpful and always there, they make the stay more like visiting your beach house than hotel. Each room has two beach chairs for you to take to the beach, beach towels to use at the ocean and a continental breakfast - which is part of the resort fee, standard for most ocean front hotels along South Beach. My favorite part was sitting on the spacious front porch, with the sun rising and the breeze on my face - heaven! Check out this gem on South Beach and you won't be disappointed.

Decided to stay in a South Beach for a midweek holiday. Clean and nice rooms, beach chairs and towels in each room. Restaurant is separate operation, so breakfast service is modest but includes all the basics. Front desk very helpful and friendly. Only dinner is served after 6 pm but the bar offers service earlier. Enjoyed our stay, but might look at other options next time.

This Hotel perfect for South Beach, being right on Ocean Drive, and this place certainly comes to life at night, it’s always nice to walk out of your hotel and see people taking pictures of the place and the classic Oldsmobile parked outside.

As this is the Art Deco area the inside as well as the exterior needs preserving the rooms have been modernised but within these constrains. There are some nice touches of complimentary water and beach seats within the rooms.

The front of house staff and housekeeping are extremely helpful. Breakfast is on a continental basis with hot scrambled eggs and sausage patties these was also a good selection of pastries and Croissants. At night the breakfast room and veranda convert to a restaurant mostly seafood with a good selection of wines.

There is a drop off area outside the main entrance with car parking at $20 per night 200m away although you have to drive around the block as most roads are one way within this area.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The location is perfect and just steps to the beach, shopping, and dining. The staff was wonderful. Very attentive and professional. The complimentary breakfast was very nice and lots of indoor or outdoor seating to enjoy it. You can have omelette’s made to order for a cost I believe was 9 dollars. They look delicious but we skipped those. Beach chairs in the room for sitting on the sand and nice large beach towels given out whenever you need them. The room was very plain nothing fancy but very functional and with a mini fridge. We didn’t hear much traffic in the halls or the room next to us. For the price and location it’s a really great place to stay in south beach and we will definitely be back. Our kids felt very welcomed.
