After having to cancel another hotel at the last minute, I needed a place to stay for an overnight layover. I was excited to find one inside the airport, as I was moving and had lots of luggage with me. Check in was easy and the room was decent enough for one night. There was a coffee maker but no fridge or microwave. Before heading to my room, I asked the front desk attendant if I could bring my bags down in the morning and they they would take them to the gate, as advertised online. He said yes, that's fine. So a bellman helped me take my luggage to my room, and then promptly asked me for a tip, which I found to be very rude. The next morning, I got up and got ready to take my bags downstairs. I asked the front desk attendant if I could leave 2 bags at the counter while I grabbed the other from my room, as I was travelling by myself. He said "no, you can't leave your bags here". I said, "just for a minute, as I can't carry all these things by myself, and there are no luggage carts available". He said "no, a police will see it and report it". I said, "okay, fine, I'll go get all of my luggage and then what is the process for you guys to get it to the gate?" He said, "we don't take them to the gate" I said "The attendant last night told me you did. Isn't that the baggage service you offer online?" He said, "no, that's the bellmen that use the luggage carts. They can take your luggage up to your room or to the gate, we can't take it to the gate without you." He had a very condescending and non-empathetic tone. Here I was, by myself with a pet, with oversize luggage, needing to now scramble to get to the gate on time because now I'm pressed for time because I thought the hotel would take care of this in the morning. I didn't want to ask for a bellman though, because I didn't want to be accosted for a tip again. I don't mind tipping, but to ask for it is just brash. So I got a cart and packed up my things. The front desk attendant had such a rude attitude, condescending tone and lack of empathy. He didn't even make an attempt to apologize for his co-worker's misleading statement about taking luggage to the gate. Also, I had forgotten to pay the pet fee the night before, so I asked another attendant to charge my card for this fee, and she rolled her eyes, didn't respond, charged me the fee + taxes (even though it says flat rate) and moved on with her day. Pathetic attempt at hospitality. Misleading advertising. Only stay here if you are desperate not to have to leave the hotel or sleep on the floor.…
The hotel is connected to the airport and only a half-minute walk to the airline checkins. We did not receive our scheduled wake up call, therefore we missed our flight and woke up incredibly irritated. The men working the front desk compensated for their coworker’s error by refunding our stay. The hotel was non-smoking but it was obvious someone had been smoking in the hall on the 6th floor. The king suite we stayed in had a connecting door to another suite that was locked but we woke up to someone trying to open it from the other side. Also, I would not feel comfortable taking a bath in the tub but it was pretty clean otherwise.
I had a very bad experience with this hotel!!, I've stayed on Aug 15th, they gave me a room who was occupied by someone else (half naked by the way!) in the middle of a World Wide PANDEMIC!. They asked me to come back with Security, and then had me waiting for over 20 minutes coming back and forth with my luggage until they finally gave me another room! They called later to apologize and said they will let a note in the system for a free night next time I'm staying with them due to the bad experience. I called to claim the free night, and they said that this could never be offered to me. That is is not the policy of the hotel. If you have the option, STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
We had a great time at hotel Mia hotel. The staff was extremely friendly, and the hotel was very clean. The rooms were clean and comfortable and housekeeping made sure to keep them that way. Definitely recommend this place, I am coming back here next time I visit MIAMI.
It really is a terrific idea...6:00 flight-sleep at the airport. Barring superficial issues(dated)...the bed was wet...we were moved down the hall...sheets were stained and there were spots on the bathroom floor. (Dried urine) We’re dealing with a COVID emergency...it’s critical hotels must be maintained and clean.
