A must place to stay. The hotel is one of the cleanest places we have stayed in. The room was large and bright . The king bed was beyond comfortable with crisp, new, soft white sheets. Soft sheets are a must for me. The large rainforest shower was so relaxing after a hot day outside. The towels were soft, new, and actually wrapped around my body. The pool area is surrounded by lush tropical plants of every imaginable variety. There are lots of shady areas as well as sunny ares to sit, with comfy chairs and umbrellas. Across the street is a fantastic bakery. Two blocks away is a take me back to the 60's diner with fantastic food. Last but not least the Manger of the Vagabond was professional, helpful and friendly.

You must stay at the Vagabond while in Miami.

I stayed at the Vagabond for the first time this week, while visiting relatives and attending a private event at Barry University. The hotel was conveniently located to places in Miami Shores, and had plenty of free parking. We enjoyed the beautiful pool deck and the remodeled, clean rooms. I would change just a couple features of the hotel if I could. The practice of dropping off the key at the main desk and picking it up whenever we came back to the hotel was quite quaint; I had only experienced this in two old European hotels in the past. Also the large frosted windows in the room doors let in too much light. We couldn't darken our room more than a twilight glow due to the lights in the hallway. The smell of the disinfectant spray, although reassuring, was difficult to remove from the room. Nevertheless, I would stay again. We enjoyed an outdoor meal at the Mandolin, the restaurant connected to the hotel, and I would also recommend the bakery one block south on Biscayne Avenue, Flavorish. They serve a good, reasonable, breakfast with freshly squeezed OJ, and they are convenient since the hotel does not serve breakfast during the pandemic.

We are delighted that you selected the Vagabond for your recent visit to Miami. We are certainly very centrally located and as such makes it easier for our guests to explore all that Miami has to offer. We will be sure to remove the diffuser in the rooms for your next stay, which will hopefully be sooner rather than later! In terms of the lighting situation, we have black-out shades for the windows and the main doors have a film that blocks most of the hallway light. I am glad you had the opportunity to explore the restaurants in our neighborhood, we have so many good ones and a variety of cuisines. Stay safe and healthy!

My sister and I arrived in Miami planning to stay at The Vagabond for a few days. Unexpected events kept us in Miami for 3 weeks, and May (owner of The Vagabond) was fantastic at making her hotel our home away from home. The front-office staff was consistently helpful in solving any supplies issues we had, and the housekeeping staff kept our room neat and clean. The ambience of The Vagabond is true Florida - sparkling pool, poolside bar, mature, well-maintained tropical landscaping and excellent Mediterranean food at the affiliated restaurant (Mr. Mandolin). Located on Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami, the hotel's location is great for access to beaches, bayside parks and restaurants. (In addition to Mr. Mandolin, try Boulevard Bae's, Blue Collar and Via Verdi.) I would definitely check back in to The Vagabond any time I'm in Miami. Enjoy!

We have now stayed here twice—once in winter and once in summer. Both times, the front desk staff was not very friendly and some of them were not masked. They also closed the pool at 8pm on the second trip and that was one of the big draws of the hotel. They also are not very friendly about taking pictures—even of just your family. They make a point to tell you there are copyrights on their location. What is the point of spending the money to stay in a cute renovated hotel if you can’t take pictures of your family enjoying it? However, the main problem is the air conditioning. We live in Florida and we understand humidity and heat. The air conditioners in both rooms were so weak that we woke up all night—even when it was turned to very cold. In winter, it was not as noticeable, but this time, it was unbearable. I get that they needed individual air conditioners for a retro hotel, but these were not at all powerful. In fact, many cheap roadside hotels have better air conditioning. Sorry, but Miami in the summer needs really good air conditioning.

Hello Valerie, I will attempt to respond to all of your issues but let me first thank you for the feedback. We have a brand new team, post Covid-19 pandemic, working at the Front Desk and they are generally very very helpful and they are all required to wear their masks. In terms of taking pictures, it would appear that they were unable to distinguish the fact that you are not a professional photographer. Of course you should be able to take as many pictures as you wish while vacationing at the hotel. The response they gave you is in reaction to the fact that we get many professional photographers attempting to use the pool deck for a professional photo shoot and for that we have strict policies and procedures that should be followed. I guess they all need a bit more training on that front. In terms of the pool hours, we are required by city code to close the pool at 8 pm. It is NOT our decision bur rather a requirement by the city of Miami. Of course the pool bar is open Thursday-Saturday until midnight, Lastly, in terms of the AC issue, the room in which you stayed has a brand new AC and as such I am confused as to why it was not cooling since we have been sold out every weekend and have not had any complaints regarding the AC in that room. I am wondering if the settings on the remote were off, nonetheless I will inspect the room and the AC and get to the bottom of the cooling issue you raised.

We loved it! I’m not normally a motel person and was nervous- but this adorable retro property exceeded my expectations. It was clean, quiet, free parking and affordable, and provided great service by Juan Arias, who helped us with recommendations on what to do in the area. This is a great location with super cool interior design, right near Miami and the Design District… book it and you won’t regret it!

This was my first time ever in Miami where I stayed on the 'main land' as opposed to South Beach and it was a FANTASTIC experience. I in know way knock the lure of the ocean, it's fantastic and south beach is incredible, but I urge you to see more of Miami when you're there.

The Vagabond was a cherished piece of Miami history that we very nearly lost. Luckily a new ownership group swooped in and restored it to brilliance and in the process made it a fantastically situated spot in which to soak in the city on famed Biscayne Blvd. Wether you are outdoors sitting around the immaculately kept poolside area, in your sharply designed and curated room, or on the property at the attached restaurant (Mr Mandolin) you have found a great temporary home. There are INCREDIBLE dining options all around the hotel in every direction, walking distance away.

The Vagabond is a great place to start or end your Miami stay.

This Hotel is fun and has a very chill vibe. Rooms are generous in size, the bed and pillows are comfortable, the shower was expansive and small upgraded touches throughout show that a lot of thought went into updating and bringing this retro property back to life. The pool is great and the outdoor bar catches a breeze that makes you want to never leave. The restaurant next door was very good and the staff in every aspect were warm and friendly with great recommendations. Our only critique would be that during our stay there were several families with children. While I love kids, it seemed out of place to have them runamuck and have access to the full bar, when it clearly feels like a more adult and grownup place.

Great laid back vibe. Room very clean and well maintained. Bed was comfortable, Room was extremely quiet, especially since there was a rowdy crowd at the pool bar one of the nights and could not hear it despite our room overlooking it. Wifi was fast enough and stayed connected.

The complaints are minor. The ergonomics of the room are somewhat awkward- the sink is tucked in the corner and somewhat obstructed by the AC unit, bedside lamps can only be shut off from a wall switch across the room, in the age of everyone traveling with electronic devices there are very very few places to plug in your stuff.

We really loved staying here in a 2 twin bed room! Juan Arias was a great guest services agent and gave us really great pointers of the area. The rooms were so exciting to stay in. The beds were super comfy and roomy, the shower actually had great pressure and was a huge walk in so it was very accessible. The pool and it’s lounging area around it was also really comfy and fun. Overall really great experience. Highly recommend if you want to get out of the typical hotel aesthetic and be close to an activity and cultural filled area.

I needed a one night stop in Miami after coming from 3 nights staying in Key West right on Mallory Square. I had a budget for this night that was gg]reader than what I spent here. We had time and could have stayed in a different area but then I googled “Unique Hotels in Miami” and this one popped up.

In the traditional sense, this is a Motel not a Hotel…but that was the fun quirky part of this to me. We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, generic hotels in generic spots that fit specific generic purposes. This was in a location we needed but this was not generic at all.

How fun! We were in room 123 pool level. As somebody that cannot walk long distances this was great for me as it was very close to the pool, restaurant and parking area on the restaurant side.

The pool area looked very quirky and fun. We were not able to enjoy it but there was a bar right there and plenty of loungers about.

The rooms are well designed, a bit sparse but in a 50’s/Jetsons quirky colorful way that makes it fun. No boring tan carpet with tan bedding and tan bathrooms.

This is an old building. Be prepared for some things to not look perfect, 5 star etc because this is not about that although the place is CLEAN. This is about staying in a quirky throwback better than boring/average hotel.

The restaurant is awesome also.

Your best chance for answering these questions is calling directly to the Hotel. I don’t think they have shuttles to transport to the airport. But asking would be the recommended course of action. I’m sure they’ll accommodate you if they have the space for an early check-in. They’re very friendly & helpful. If not, they’ll keep your luggage until their official time. In the meantime you can walk around & will find great places for lunch, wine or just visit an attraction nearby. Uber & Lyft are easy to access right in front of the main office. Also, you can access the bar or restaurant, if they’re opened... ask Salomon for a great cocktail or nice beer at the poolside bar!
