Our room overlooked the lagoon. It was always a pleasure to get up and see the water outside our room and not some section of roof. The elevators are centrally located and all rooms are a short walk from there. The GYM is full of equipment and very clean. The lobby is wide open and has a nice sitting area. Bar and dining area are close to front desk. The motel is well located and this makes it easy to get anywhere in Miami quick.
I was in Miami for the Marathon and after the Super Bowl and the Marathon all the hotels were sold out or with high rates. Looking for an alternative, I found Cambria Hotel very close to the airport and the same distance bewtween Downtown and Dolphin Mall. The hotel is very good alternative, good distance to any point in the city connected by highway to the beach (30 minutes) and other touristics sites in the city. Very clean, free coffe, wifi and parking. A negative comment?, there is nothing around, just to sleep and take a break, but 3 minutes of distance in car, there are a strip center. A last positive comment? affordable.
Honestly the hotel room was everything I expected. It was nice, clean and honestly very spacious. The hotel itself isn’t in most touristy location but I enjoy that cause it made for a very peaceful stay.
My husband and I stayed here for one night before a cruise. I booked the room directly through the hotel website and requested early check in because we had an early flight into Miami. Airport Shuttle - Don't follow the written directions which say go upstairs to call then downstairs to meet the shuttle. (Maybe they'll get this updated.) These were the directions we got on both the website and via email. Instead, we called the number when we arrived at baggage claim and our bags were coming out. We were asked what door we were at, so have that number. They're posted on the doors. They said the shuttle would arrive within 30 minutes and we were directed to wait outside. Once outside, you have to cross the drive lanes to get all the way to the outside lane on the other side. There you will see pull in areas marked for shuttles. When we were there, around 11:30 am, this area was full of people. Everyone is standing around waiting for their shuttle to arrive. Many of the shuttles quickly drove by without giving people the opportunity to flag them down. Our shuttle came slowly by and stopped as soon as we waved. Our bags were loaded in the back by the driver and we were driven straight to the hotel. Great service. Check in - Staff was very friendly and welcoming and our room was ready. We arrived just after noon. This process was fast and easy. Room - I paid more for a tower room expecting a good lagoon view. Don't waste your money on this. Our room was on the second floor and we kind of had a corner view of the lagoon, but it was mostly blocked by trees. The hotel is only four stories so if you want a lagoon view, pay for that specifically (which is less than a tower room). We had a seating area and separate bedroom with a spacious bathroom. The room was large and clean. It had a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker but no safe. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was good. No issues with the room except the TV remotes (one in the bedroom and one in the living room) which didn't want to always work. Restaurant - There is a snack refrigerator, bar and restaurant on site. No lunch menu except pizza which we enjoyed. They offer a shuttle to local attractions, including places with restaurants, be we were tired and didn't want to travel far. We had dinner at the restaurant on site and enjoyed it. (We had planed to to go Jungle Island but it started raining.) Breakfast the next day was a buffet which I think we paid for separately. There were lots of options. Transportation to the Port - When we checked in, we were asked how we planned to get to the port the next day. We told them we were going to use Uber or Lyft and they said they had a local service with a fixed cost. I think it was $15 per person and we selected a 12:30 pick up and received a noon check out time to accommodate it. The shuttle arrived on time, our luggage was loaded by the driver, and we were driven straight to the Royal Caribbean port where the driver unloaded our bags and they were immediately taken by port employees to get to the ship. Other passengers on the shuttle were going to be taken to the Carnival port after we got dropped off. This is a good, reliable service and the best option especially if you have a lot of bags or a large group which may not fit in an Uber or Lyft. The other group of five woman called for an Uber XL and the car that arrived didn't fit them all, so they changed to the shuttle. I think you are supposed to reserve the shuttle when you check in. Check out - This was smooth and easy with friendly, efficient staff. Facilities - There is a small outdoor pool which overlooks the lagoon and outside tables and chairs. There's a very short walkway which leads to the neighboring apartments. We saw lots of iguanas and birds (ducks, etc.) during our short walk. This hotel is not close to anything else so if you want to eat elsewhere or do anything else you need your own car, to use their shuttle, or to use local transportation. It is not close to the beach. Overall - This is a nice hotel with good rates for Miami. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was great, including the bar where we enjoyed some tasty cocktails. It was good for a one night relaxing stay before the cruise. If we were spending more days in Miami, we'd have to arrange transportation or use the shuttle because there's not a lot to do on site. The shuttle does not take you to the beach because it only goes three miles. I'd recommend it for a before cruise stay, especially if you sign up for the separate port shuttle.…
