I booked directly for 5 nights The staff are charming BUT the hotel is simply one of the absolute worst in the world. Out of date, in poor condition. Suite with no soap and a toilet that leaked over the floor. A bucket in he middle of the lobby to collect leaks from the ceiling….. I packed and left. Outrageous. And outrageously expensive

I’ve been to this hotel 25-30 times in last 5 years. Obviously we had always enjoyed it here. Maybe this is a casualty of the pandemic? I’m not sure. The hotel is tired. It’s in desperate need of room renovations. Everything is older and outdated. We generally get a junior suite. Always great. This time we are in a junior suite that’s literally been sliced in half. No sofa, only a chair. No double sink. And a strange corner that is dead space. The balcony however is great. Don’t get me started on the pool area. I just witnessed a guest wait 1/2 hour for a iced coffee. It was painful. This is a holiday weekend. Nobody is walking the pool asking if you need anything or bringing fresh iced water. Another guest had to hunt down a server to order. Yesterday my lunch was served with stale bread. And can you afford to buy new pool glasses? Old plastic ones are faded or cracked cloudy and not appetizing to drink out of. This is simply poor management and even poorer training. It’s just sad and disappointing. Oh. On a positive. Buffet breakfast here is excellent

Most incredible experience with caring, well trained staff that sets the bar high in the Mandarin Oriental brand and among luxury hotels. Truly 5 star++. Loved: - Caring, considerate staff from warm, welcoming Theo at the front desk telling us about the dolphins that he can see from the front desk and helping me enroll in the MO frequent guest program to the pool staff who brought champagne buckets of ice and cold water to your table and noticed and adjusted our umbrella when the sun started to set and was in our eyes. Even while we left calling an Uber, the valet gave us tips on making sure we had the right start location showing to avoid the driver coming to the wrong location. I was thoroughly impressed by the caring and consideration the entire staff showed us during our stay. They showed us what a wonderful world it could be if we could all treat each other with caring and kindness. - The spacious room, Las Vegas luxury hotel size, with the window opening looking from the tub surrounded in marble to the bedroom and stunning view of Miami from your balcony. - Very happy with how the hotel honored the American Express Platinum Fine Hotel program by allowing us to get room service with the breakfast credit. The lady who brought room service offered to call for help to move the table on the cart over the balcony raised threshold. We declined her eager, kind offer, and all of us just carried our breakfast out to the balcony table. Her positive attitude was very commendable. - Infinite rounded pool has the most padded, comfortable lounge I have ever laid on! Plenty of umbrellas. I ordered a Miami Vice (strawberry daiquiri and pina colada) which came in a proper size frozen drink glass instead of the tiny plastic cups at most Miami hotels. Separate sand area with loungers and shower. - The "wow" factor as you enter the lobby with the stunning floor to ceiling windows of the water and flowers. The path around Brickell Key right outside the hotel for about a mile walk along the water. Suggestions for improvement: - Umbrellas for the sandy area section. If the umbrellas in the pool section were full, people could go to the sandy section but there were no umbrellas. - No coffee maker in the room, although there is coffee and tea near the bar until 10:00 am. We have stayed at a few other hotels that had a Nespresso maker in the room.

My bathroom literally caught on fire due to a faulty blow dryer. Thank goodness I acted quickly. So I’m blow drying my hair, the blow dryer stops working and the next thing I know there are flames coming out of it. I immediately pull out the plug, call the front desk, tell them to get up here quickly (they didn’t which was unacceptable), then I go back into the bathroom and see one of the towels is now on fire. I manage to put out the fire and I call again downstairs and tell them if security doesn’t get up here within 5 mins then I’m calling 9-1-1 because I wasn’t sure if it would start up again - I’m no expert so who knows if a spark would occur and then something else re-ignites? So they came up quickly after that second call, moved me to another room and offered me “free breakfast” when I’m already getting a free breakfast as part of my hotel package. I guess Mandarin management thinks saving their hotel worth millions of dollars is equal to offering their guest a free breakfast that I was getting anyway as part of my hotel package. Anyway, glad I got the fire out, glad it didn’t spread and glad nobody got hurt. You’re Welcome Mandarin Oriental Hotel, but may I please suggest you thoroughly inspect all your guest room blow dryers?

Dear MaryfromManhattan, Thank you for staying with us this past weekend and I sincerely apologize for the incident that occurred with the hairdryer in your room. This should never happen, and I can imagine how frightening this was to occur and subsequently the length of time that transpired for our colleagues to immediately respond is inexcusable. I was saddened to read your account of what happened, the delay for assistance and how this was handled overall. I am reviewing every step with the management team in Housekeeping, Engineering and Front Desk regarding the incident and can assure you there will be proper follow up accordingly. Although our Hotel Duty Manager was trying to make some amends for what happened, I believe we missed the mark here. We very much appreciate you alerting us right away of the situation and we all are indeed fortunate that this did not escalate further. Again my sincere apologies for this incident and I hope should you return to Miami in the future that you reach out to me directly to assist with a reservation. I wish you a lovely holiday week ahead. Best regards, Elysia Weiss Hotel Manager

This is a superb hotel, and it's the personnel that work there that make this a special place! They all make you feel welcome, are extremely helpful, and all seem to like their jobs. The hotel offers complimentary Tesla rides to any destination within two miles. This is one of the best hotels I have ever visited!

Its a nice facility, however I prefer the Mandarin HKG. Amenities were more plush, and room decor was more authentic, and the shower was to small, and we prefer dual sinks. Room seemed dated as carpets and furniture seemed used.

Amazing A+ experience. We arrived from the very hectic, stressful Miami highway traffic, and I was instantly transported into a relaxing luxury world. The first thing I noticed was the amazing smell and high windows in the lobby with the most impressive view. We were greeted and checked in immediately - and I thought it was a nice touch that the lady who checked us in actually left her desk and personally walked us to the elevators. I was given the most delicious sesame and ginger chocolate because I was "Friends of MO" (join it!). When we arrived to our room we were yet again surprised with rose petals, chilled prosecco and fresh fruit. We decided to stay in, relax after the hectic drive and enjoy the room service - all was fantastic. Ahhhh it was amazing! Thanks Mandarin Oriental!

Beautiful hotel, fantastic location and very quiet/peaceful environment. We are locals who did a weekend staycation for the first time at the Mandarin Oriental and we will definitely be back. We have never been to a hotel that was so quiet and serene with no one running up and down hallways yelling, no banging above us or next door, no noises from jets heading to Miami Airport, just great views and beautiful decor. Plus, the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Very good location. Good staff OK rooms. (very happy with the upgrade) A bit worn down hotel with overpainted rust etc. The "beach area" was very disappointing - could be a fantastic spot, but no service, messy, no music. Could be one of the best spots in Miami. Breakfast OK- good, but far away from the standard of similar hotels in Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai etc. And very far away from the prices charged.
