This hotel is definitely not a 4 Star resort, it was very dated, stuck in the 80's, the room looks like it has not been cleaned or mopped in awhile. Nightstand tables & telephone were cover with dust. The minute you walk in the room, it smelled old/musty. There was only 1 employee working on a Saturday, which he apologized for any delay to us saying he was working as valet, front desk and housekeeping. Poor guy, he was great though! As a local I knew this place use to be really nice, they definitely need an upgrade or at least lower their stars for the time being. I’ve never left a review but this was really bad.

I don't like to write bad reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a hotel- and my husband and I have travelled the world together. We booked the Mayfair because of the beautiful pictures on the website and I regret so much not checking the reviews first. On arrival we were hit first with a very bad smell in the reception, this travelled all the way up the elevator. When we reached our floor we were greeted by fresh vomit in the cement plant pots- with a few roaches enjoying it. We entered the room and at first (it was night) it seemed ok. Until we went into the bathroom and it was clear it had not been cleaned after the previous guests. The bath was filthy with hair and grime, there was still soap stains on the shower shelf, the floor was dirty and the mirrors were greasy. We then started to notice that the whole unit was filthy. The mini fridge was mouldy and full of crumbs, the tables and surfaces had not been cleaned, the couch was full of crumbs- all in all it was just disgusting. We were so tired, we decided to just go to bed and deal with it in the morning. ( at least the sheets were clean) in the morning there was no one at reception, so we decided to walk to the nearest convenience store- buy some cleaning materials and clean the room ourselves. By 2pm our room was as clean as we could get it and we decided to go up to the pool for a drink and a swim. When we arrived at the pool area all we could hear was the screeching of speakers (either blown or wired wrong i guess) there was rubbish every where, bottles, chip packets, empty cups. The seating covers were so stained, ripped and old I was too scared to sit on them, no way I would get in the pool after seeing that. By the third night, we had turned the mattress over, we were exhausted, depressed and so incredibly disappointed in this holiday we had looked forward to for 6 months after I suffered a miscarriage, that we decided to check out early. Was the best decision we made and I am just SO sorry we didn't leave after the first night! I have written to the manager twice to request some sort of refund or even an acknowledgement, but of course have heard nothing. I managed hotels for many years and am shocked that this establishment is getting away with even selling these rooms- especially during this virus AND in a first world country?! This is a much bigger problem than management though- this hotel needs serious money put into it from the owners. It is such a beautiful building and has SO much potential- i think that makes it even more sad. Do yourself a favour and DO NOT stay here, we lost not only our hard earned money, but also a break that was supposed to be healing and fun- turned out to be a nightmare! Robert at reception is so sweet and dealt with the complaints all day long from SO many guests- he deserves a much better job than this hotel! I genuinely don't know how the management and owners sleep at night, but im sure it is in a much cleaner bedroom with a much more comfortable bed!

Staff were so friendly and always at the front desk. Our room was perfect, clean and smelled great. Loved our Zen patio, most hotels dont have patios!! Gym was perfect and the pool was mellow and breezy. Being able to walk to Coconut Grove anytime we wanted was a special treat too. The ambience overall is 5 stars, including the Spa. So relaxing and stress relieving. We couldn't ask for a better stay. Thanks Mayfair, we'll be back soon.

I stayed for 5 nights, I’ll be listing facts: 1. All staff members I encountered were friendly and willing to help. 2. No hotel parking spaces, only valet, for which they charge 35$/overnight and 15$/visitor. The coconut grove parking that’s open for the public is across the street, charge 28$/day, I used that option, although the elevators don’t work so I had to go up and down the car lane to get inside the underground garage. 3. The room first allotted to me had a leaking bathroom sealing and a huge discolored patch on the wall near the toilet, seems to be a result of meld that wasn’t treated properly. Of course I asked to change the room. 4. The second room had a ceiling fan right in front of the main hallway door. Wasn’t working/on and had compiled a tremendous amount of dust and residue on its wings, again disgusting stuff. 5. Dusty room lamps, I literally shoved them inside the closet so as not to see them 6. When I asked for extra sheets, I received old ragged thin ones that are more suited to clean the floors rather than sleep on. 7. They had small square shaped sleeping pillows! Sleeping pillows are supposed to be fluffed up and rectangular. I asked for more pillows, but they had run out of pillows. Just like on one night I asked for water bottles and they said they had run out of those too (the servant then managed to get me some later) 8. No joke 10-15 calls at a time for the front desk to answer, if you want to get anything done fast you’d have to go down yourself. Not enough staff. 9. Lastly the room hallways tended to always be noisy at night, more like a frat house. The hotel guests didn’t seem to be the courteous type. **I was in a rush the night I booked, not to mention being very tired. This hotel was the nearest to me and apparently rated 4 stars. Will never visit again. If you know anything about cleanliness, hospitality and luxury living don’t come here. They’re using their location to hype the hotel**

Futureobgyn- Thank you for staying with us & thank you for taking a few moments to relay your experience. We appreciate that you mentioned the employees were friendly & eager to assist you with your requests. Our airy outdoor courtyard hotel corridors do at times make the sound of other guest seem amplified. We will be taking corrective actions to remedy these opportunities & I will DM you to follow up directly and have you back. Warm Regards, Sean McKeen

When in Miami my preferred place to stay is at The Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove. It is being renovated at this time but it is still a very lovely and unique place in a fabulous location. The staff there are always very helpful and accommodating. Be patient with the fact that there are certain things that are closed or simply unavailable at the hotel due to the COVID 19 situation.
